after two months of occupying the harbor, police made their move this morning, getting rid of the occupy protests. this has become going on for two hours. kuren redmond is live on the scene with the latest. have you talked to the protesters yet? not so far. we are not sure where police moved them. we haven't seen them walk up towards us. pratt is closed off. we are here at south and pratt street. that is as close as we can get to where the occupy baltimore protesters, where their makeshift camp us. we haven't seen them trickle up this way. we were hoping to grab someone to see what police -- how police conducted the raid. you can see there is a lot of police activity going on down. there it's dark but as you can see, police are in full riot taber, as they moved in to move out the occupy baltimore protesters and moved in like i said, before 3:00

this morning and now we know that pratt is closed and there was a helicopter flying above earlier, that's stopped to ensure everything has been peaceful. the purpose of the whole thing was to call attention to income, inequality among the wealthy and poor in the country. the city has been patient with the baltimore protesters here in downtown at the inner harbor letting them camp out for the past two months. the city did deny their permit extension and we know there have been incidents that have taken place here over the last two months since they have been here. there was a stabbing here last weekend. early on the city did cut off their electricity. this morning their time is up and police have moved in to remove the occupy protesters. the mayo issued a statement

this morning saying quote , the city of baltimore is committed to protecting individuals right to protest. our public parks and green spaces should not be treated as permanent camp grounds and camping is prohibited. right now we are not sure where many of the protesters went. we know that many of them were believed to be homeless people but not sure what arrangements the city has made for them and they have not come up this way. we are thinking police are making them walk a different way to get ow of mckeldin square. a recap, police moved in before 3:00 a.m. this morning, a early morning raid. we are following this all morning and give you the latest updates as they come in. kuren redmond, abc2 news. former penn state assistant

football coach sandusky will appear in court, faces 40 charges of rape and molestation in a child sex abuse scandal that involved 8 victims. they will take the stand and tell their version of what happened. prosecutors must convince a judge there is enough evidence to take this to trial. >> it's a very embarrassing situation for most of them to be sure and they will be cross examined by someone determined to show they are lying. >> sandusky continues, maintaining innocence of all charges. take a look at this from news around the nation, two military helicopters crashed monday near a joint base. this is in washington state. news release from the base says four army aviators were cairld. investigation is underway. hunters maybe to blame in the shooting of two middle school students. the shooting happened monday while the students were trying
