more of a pedestrian didn't. a disturbing sight for all the people in this neighborhood. >> a lot of times i go to fast, it's horrible, especially near christmas with a child being killed. i would be devastated. >> reporter: the area runs between townsend and the essex, area, people say a lot of people speedn. this case, it doesn't -- they aren't saying if speed had anything to do with it. a lot of people we talked to said that's a factor on this two lane section of the avenue and now they say they are worried it'll get worse here in the near future. we will talk about that tonight on the news at 11. for now live in baltimore county. >> thank you. this is like watching a movie or a tv show. those of you in the highlands area looked out the window to see a stream of police cars

chasing a white car through the neighborhood. it ended with gun shots. >> reporter: a description of the car involved went out last night because baltimore county police say it may have been used in a robbery. an officer saw the car at around 11 and the driver took off. that officer gives chase, the suspect gets on interstate 97 and then the state police pursuit. the car went into baltimore and the county cops pursued then it goes in to the city and they pursued. by the time it ended more than 20 cars with sirens are rolling through the neighborhood. >> we still coming down the avenue and one after another. my gosh right? >> reporter: you see them everywhere. >> yes. just -- away --. >> we heard the noise and went back in. >> reporter: three? >> about three.

about three. >> reporter: police say the driver of the car rammed two cruisers before it ended. they say the man got out of the car and put a gun to his head and then pointed it at officers who shot him in the leg. he was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. the two officers involved weren't hurt but will be put on leave. the suspect's name hasn't been released but charges are pending. abc 2news. >> thank you. it's an emergency when you punch 911 but police in one county say this new system is just not clicking like it should and when they got lost trying to get to you we need to know what's going on. here is don harrison on that story tonight >> reporter: this is the new 911 system. >> calvert. >> reporter: it replaced the 26 year old dispatch communication

system, some firefighters and police say the new system has put their lives in danger. >> officers going hands on with this system it was not meant for them. . >> reporter: a corporal with the order of police. he said the new system is giving them wrong information at times and not enough at other times. >> there are so many issues i think it's going to be impossible to get all the issues straightened out before someone is hurt or injured. >> we feel we will be able to work our way through that. as the issues arrive any potential safety issues being addressed. >> reporter: the system also operates to fire and ambulance center for the county. the chief said the new system has advantages over the old system. >> the satellite that is here with this new system is an advantage we have from the old system. in this case, it can help the dispatchers here can help identity position, relay that information to the responding

units as well as help clarify a position. >> if officer safety were compromised the department said it would pull the plug. i'm not certain the department has access to that plug or knows where it is. >> reporter: the new one operates four agencies together. police, fire, sheriff's department and the detention center. it costs $300,000 a year to maintain. don harrison. >> this new system cost $6.6 million. agent are still here working with fire and police to help with this transition. state fire marshall saying the house fire that killed three on sunday was caused by space heaters. according to investigators gas had been shut off for about two weeks because of a wall mounted heater that was leaking. the 45-year-old, 66-year-old and the 36-year-old daughter

all died from smoke inhalation and burns. the state fire marshall said no smoke detectors were found inside the home. the parents of a 10-year- old who say he was bullied and taunted by classmates at two schools, were in court this morning pursuing a suit they filed against the school board and principals of the two schools. their son who has special need as tended both schools after his family moved here from nevada. now they say they went to the principal several times but the bullying just continued. the family felt their only option was to take this issue to the courts. >> the -- they brought the suit because they want other children not to have to go through what their children went through. they felt the public school system didn't care. >> the jury was selected, opening arguments started today. we contacted the city school system and they said the

district doesn't comment on pending or active litigation. a second teen charged in a fight broken up with pepper spray. more than a dozen teens went to the hospital after a school resource officer used pepper spray in the homes halls to stop the fight. the teens are being charged as juveniles. >> all right. we have been tracking the showers as they push through in waves on the radar. where is the wet weather now? there is a little batch through the city. let's show you that. can pinpoint it with you with the radar. showers coming in, south side of town down toward glenn burney. and also finding a couple of showers clearing out of the eastern shore. we will continue to track it. we think there could be a little more rain pushing in

usb ports and the speed that the wifi and cell service works. that's good. they received top marks for wifi and nearly perfect score forself service. this is -- here we are, 5th agreed class at cromwell. they linked up with the partner class of student at a school in hawaii today. the students connected using skype. the kids took turns sharing poetry they wrote over the past month and even prepared videos about each school. cromwell valley students have established 23 exchanges with students in 11 states through the partner class project. that's great. when it comes to health you may not think what you drink has a lot to do with how you feel but coming up next, what happened when a local woman challenged herself to stop

off coffee. there is the trick. a study shows women women who cut back on carbs two days a week lost more weight than women who dieted full time. women who did it two days a week and ate normal the rest of the time lost nine pounds in four months while those who did it full time for four months only lost five pounds. they started the study to try to come one a diet women could stick up with since it's a risk factor for breast cancer . the machine that help people with sleep apnea could also help lower the rick of heart disease. a study found participant who used them for three months had improvement in their blood pressure and sugar levels. your place for all of your health news that you need. log on, check out the page and

humidity, by december standards, almost tropical. cloudy skies, belaire this is the weatherbug camera. you know again, wet roads, always making traffic more of a headache. we saw more sunny peaks at times, few sunny peaks and ellicott city was wet through most of the afternoon in to the evening making for a tough drive in spots. show you the winds, from the south, that's a warming, southerly breeze, blowing ten to 18 right now. gusting to 25, so it's a breezy night. gust in oakland to 32, out in the mountains there as colder air starts to nudge in. mild air is our story. still 60 annapolis. another line of showers positioning themselves out around west virginia up through western pennsylvania. that line if it holds together will bring another round of light showers through the late evening. across the east coast we find

basically a front pushing in. that cold irshot will arrive by midday tomorrow. temperatures dropping after a while. pretty quickly down to the 30s. you can see the 30s on the map. in the meantime we are in the 60s. we will stay mild through the rest of the evening. 43 or so by daybreak but most of the night in the 50s. tomorrow the two degree guarantee, 48, that's it. we will struggle to get to 50. after midday temperatures will start to drop. colder temperatures through the afternoon into tomorrow night. 32, down to the freezing mark tomorrow night. that's more like december with a frost over night. the seven day forecast looking to saturday, sunday, finding mid40s, but there will be sun around. colder trend for the weekend. not bad for mid-december and -- good shopping weather for all you last minute shoppers. have you that, the weather on your side to get that last gift. >> weather on your side.
