horrible accident taking their son. we spoke exclusively to ryan chase's family and corinne redman is here with what they had to say. >> reporter: well, ryan chase comes from large family with roots in east baltimore. many family members gathered at a home on elwood devastated by the news. he just turned 16 earlier this month and family members say his brother is a baltimore city police officer and he walked on east putty hill avenue about every day to and from school and would have been well aware that stretch of road could be dangerous at times. family members shared memories of ryan saying he could be quiet at times but his focus was on school. they say he was a bright and competitive student as a sophomore at park hill high school and he wanted to become ascientist. >> really smart. real, real smart child. straight a honor roll student. >> he he was always talk -- he was always talking about a scientist e wanted -- he wanted to be more than anybody else was doing. >> reporter: now at this point, the family tells us they want

more information about what happened in the moments leading up to his death. corinne redman, abc2 news. the body of a missing man was found in a reservoir on thursday. charles was missing since december 2nd from middle river and a sanitation work mer d.c. police say there are no signs of trauma or foul play and an autopsy will be conducted. a man is expected to survive after being shot in the legs by police. he led more than a dozen officers on a high-speed chase. police tried to stop the car because it smatched the description of another -- matched the description of another car in a robbery. it started yesterday morning in anne arundel county. the driver took off down 97 and the car crosses into baltimore county and baltimore city. by the time it reached landsdowne witness saw more than 20 police cars. -- witnesses saw more than 20 police cars. >> we saw them coming one after another. oh, my gosh. >> you see cop cars everywhere.

>> oh, yeah. following each other like oh, my lord. >> we heard the boom boom boom and we went back in. >> like three shots. >> it was about three? about three. >> the suspect hit two cruisers before he stop and got out of the car and put the gun to his head. he didn't point it at officers and officers opened fire. today two penn state official will be in harrisburg facing charges of live to grand jury and failing to report sex abuse allegations. lawyers for the former vice president gary schultz and athletic director tim curley will go forward with the hearing and challenging of the evidence. earlier the man at the heart of the allegations former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky waived his preliminary hearing. he is charged with molesting at least 10 boys. today weaky leaks leader will go before a military judge in his first court appearance since his arrest in may 2010. he is accused of engineering the largest ever leak of

at 4:30. and welcome back. news time is 4:56. los angeles police have arrested the man they believe fired a number of shots outside the chinese consulate. witnesses reported hearing gunshots around one shattering a window. officials believe it's a protester seen arguing with security earlier in the day thankfully no one was injured. well 13 people in germany were sick after drinking alcohol laced with poison. police are searching for a man they believe passed out the drinks at christmas market. the suspect said he was new father and celebrating. police say the drinks contained knockout drops and induced vomiting that could be fatal. good news for your about a haman fishermen. -- bahaman fishermen. they are safe after five days at sea without water or food. they were reported missing on saturday and a small plane spotted two small broken boats and notified the coast guard
