as you can see fire officials have blocked the eastbound lane of route 50. this is at richey highway. a vehicle blocking a left lane. beprepared for those as you cross the bay bridge and head up to route 2. also traveling on i-95 flooding in see sill county, accident in harford county, the accident at rou. >> good morning. you know it's been exactly one year since barns went missing in baltimore and was subsequently found dead. this morning abc news is telling us how friends and family will mark that one year anniversary. >> there will be a rally tonight at 7:00 to remember felicia barns. they hope it will keep the teen's life in the spotlight. she went missing a year ago. her body was found four months

later in the river. police say she was murdered but never said how and no suspects were ever named in the case. barns was an honor roll student and star athlete. she lived in north carolina. today her high school there will be planting a tree in her honor. the unsolved case has sparked a lot of attention. even strangers have come out to rally for her over the last year. tonight's call to action to remember her starts at 7:00 at browns me moishl baptist church. that's on west bevel deer avenue. we're hearing felicia's dad will be . we're learning now that officers are saying jerry lewis killed a woman and her son in long island, then turned himself in in laurel, maryland. lewis faced a judge yesterday. detectives say lewis' mother took him to the police station on christmas eve and he turned himself in where he admitted the crime. >> they call and say hey, we've

got your guy. >> yeah, it says something about the case. they want this guy and they want to put a closure to this case. >> lewis is scheduled to have a hearing at the end of january at which point he will ultimately be transported back to long island where he'll face murder charges. people at the intersection are upset and confused sometimes about which way to go. city leaders are spending about $7 million to create a round about. drivers have to deal with two left turn lanes and two straight lanes. there's also backups around the railroad tracks. >> you don't know whether it's a turn right or what lane to get in when you're trying to go down light street or go on key highway. the lights are a little confusing. >> the city says they're planning stages and what people are going to tell them about what they think about the project. experts say the economy has been taking a real hit in

news time 4:38. welcome back. severe weather out of the midwest is causing some serious problems for drivers but it's not just the snow and rain that's been the driving factors. new video overnight from indiana

and pennsylvania. let's go to pennsylvania first where you can see a lot of rain pounding that area. gusting winds and pelting rain caused problems near philadelphia. at times those wind gusts were around 40 miles per hour. small creeks and streams swelled beyond their banks as the rain just kept pouring down. the storm system was all part of an unusually warm weather for this time of the year. and south bend, indiana, a wet snow made a messy time for commuters last night and several places of low visibilitys at time as the snow came down in sheets. most of that area received 2 to 4 inchs of snow. >> well, you know what? there's something that could be on our doorstep, a couple of computer models are trying to lock into a pretty impressive looking storm early next week. we'll get to that. want to talk about this this morning after seeing 40 to 50-mile-per-hour winds on the eastern shore. now we look at the middle

school, 41 and from roland park to bethesda we have winds in the 25 to 30-mile-per-hour range. temperatures this morning not that chilly. a lot of 40s showing up. the clouds creeping back in, snow showers back there into the mountains. we've accounted for the fact that this disturbance pull not guilty those snow showers will also creep in those winds. and partly cloudy sky and temperatures likely to flip into the upper 30s bidet break. we'll make our way back to about 43 downtown but if you live north or outside the beltway likely to stay near 40 with blustery winds. >> on roadways right now quite a few early morning ins accidents. an accident on i-95. southbound we have a rath lane blocked with that. our biggest issue is the vehicle fire for those of you traveling on route 2 heading through the arnold area getting on route 50 eastbound. that's where you'll find all lanes blocked except the left lane getting by.

examining awareness and views of the o-obama administration steps up immigration enforce especially when it relate to deportation. ruben ray turned himself in to police on monday after shooting christopher sullivan. an unclaimed $7 million powerball ticket from june 29th has expired. unclaimed funds are usually returned and then each participating state based on that state's sales for the particular drawing. and the federal government is now suing fed ex for $1.5 million in penalties. the shipping company is accused of violating federal regulations. fed ex has yet to comment on the charges. guns were a big hit for the holiday season. almost half a million instant criminal background checks for gun ownership were done. the one day record for

background checks was also set this year and that was done on black friday. democracy 2012. presidential hopefuls and now they're been attacking mitt romney's health plan over and over again. mr. gingrich appears to praise the controversial law. the former house speaker called the 2006 signing exciting and he says at the time he agreed entirely with governor romney that the goal should be 100% coverage for all americans. >> i've said consistently we ought to have some requirement, you either have health insurance or you post a bond or some way you indicate you're going to be accountable. >> nut gingrich has said he supported the man date for health insurance in the past but has since changed his mind. news around the nation at least 7 people were shot and two dead at a church's chicken restaurant in chicago. police say it all started with an argument outside that store

where police say one person pulled out a gun and chased the intended victim inside the restaurant where several shots were fired. two people died at the scene. five others have been taken to the hos. this morning a little girl is resting in virginia after being taken from her home in north carolina. an amber alert was issued for her early yesterday morning. hours later the girl was found playing outside a new port news grocery . >> she didn't have any pants on. she had a dirty diaper on so i went over to the family dollar and bought her a little outfit because she was cold. she seemed to be in good spirits. >> unbelievable. that young girl is now in police custody. her father and the family is in new port news. police are still trying to find him. in florida a man used his crutches to fight off some robbers near miami. he injured his leg two months ago but two women were trying to take advantage of him on monday.

one distracted him while the other reached for his wallet and he wasn't having any part of it. >> i pulled my crutch out from underneath my right arm real quick and i hit her. i was always brought up you don't hit a woman but in this case i didn't have a choice. >> now the women are charged with attempted robbery. dozens stolen christmas gifts have been recovered. all thanks to an ipad. the man broke into a home christmas morning and stole several items including the ipad. it's ipad sporting a tracking program appropriately called find my ipad which showed his ipad was just a few houses away. the cops showed up at the house and arrested him. the suspect had also broken into another home recently. someone stole an estimated $20,000 from a church. $20,000. now it's believed that theft happened sometime around christmas night. church officials say the money was in a secure place behind

another flight. well a half billion dollar settlement with electronic makers could mean a refund coming to your pocket. it involved led panels. sharp and samsung all part of a $500 million settlement. details about who's eligible have yet to be announced. all right. here's a cool story for you. lego will soon be rolling out a new line of toys targeting young girls. it's been a target long associated with boys. we didn't know this. i always thought legos were unisex. well here comes olivia, andrea, and emma, five girlfriend from the heart lake city lego construction sets for young girls. after interviews with thousands of moms and daughters lego will now deliver toys for the other half of the world's children,

girls. >> oh, good. it's about time. that's awesome. >> now i can play with girl things. >> i think it's great for girls that help to identify themselves >> lego says its friends collection is one of the most researched projects ever. this is pretty cool but it's sort of news because i admitted i still play with legos. i didn't know they were just for guys. >> you should be proud of that but being a guy you probably wouldn't think about that. right? >> you should have seen the story about the girl that went on a rant about marketing to girls and princesses and she wanted superhero . we're back to 40 here in baltimore but 30s north and west and strong winds have taken that all the way to the deep south. you'll notice 20s back towards the great lakes. you can see the general wind flow here and while the cold air trying to push its way through we've got that great lakes machine showing up some snow showers to our west.

a couple of disturbances fighting their way through. it's all wrapping around our storm. our storm pulling into eastern canada. and then turning over to snow and some really hefty lake effect snows kicking up in western new york. here's the deal. we've already pushed the clouds and we'll go partly to mostly cloudy today. we'll probably ease those up as we head into the afternoon but blustery winds and in and out of the clouds as a fast wind pattern continues to take little disturbances our way and likely to keep those showers to our north but they could clip us over the weekend. 43 today. that's near normal and we've got that winter feeling back. winds gusting to 40 miles per hour. no doubt a better windchill that we haven't had to deal with yet. clear, calm and colder overnight. a little peek at the extended outlook down there. we'll talk about next week and the potential for our first winter storm and the start of the new year. and on the roads this

morning getting reports of an accident. it is on i-83 southbound as you approach the baltimore beltway. we've reported an accident on i-95 up in harford county. that has been cleared, all lanes now open. now let's get a check of some of our other major roads. 29 this morning all is quiet north and southbound making your way through the columbia region. an update on the vehicle fire as we look live at u.s. 50 and route 2. it is a tractor trailer that was on fire. as you can see we're still blocking your eastbound lane of 50. only one left lane getting by this incident. back to you. well, she's only 8 years old and this morning she's the center of attention in israel. why they're targeting this little girl and what she has to say about that and how the israeli government is now trying to protect her. >> also a train that mirrors the bullet train in japan. a super speed test has got
