pinch and temperatures in the 45 to 40 range, mid-day to early afternoon we should try to break that up later on but winds gusing to 45-mile-per-hour making it for a blustery day. let's see what's happening on the roads right now. . >> on our main roads as you mentioned kind of quiet out there. a lot of people still on vacation for the holiday season. our main traffic problems right now, a couple of fire locations first in the city, roberts street is shut down between madison avenue and lawrence runs parallel with roberts. they've also shut that down so you may want to hop on pressman to get around that entire situation. major roads looking good. a lot of people not back to work. making the drive past maryland 175, let's get another look at route 50 and route 2. this is the scene we had of the

tractor trailer fire. good news very light flow of traffic where only one left lane is getting by. and a quick note from the mta this morning, all rail service on time and buses running as scheduled. this is a spot of confusion for many drivers and now the city says they're going to take care of it. city of baltimore is looking to spend about $7 million to make improvement at the intersection. right now there are two left turn lanes, two lanes that go straight and the roads bumpy

from the railroad tracks. the city is hoping to create a round about to cut down the

that speech and his closing argument, that's just part of what romney had to say tuesday, just one week before the presidential candidates face off in the iowa caucuss. the latest poll show ron pall and romney and nut gingrich all near a tie depending upon the poll but they're all within the statistical margin of error. southwest airlines flight was forced to abort takeoff after two of the tires blew out. the plane was headed to seattle and a witness says the rubber on the tire on the left side was down to the rim. there were roughly 130 passengers on board waiting outside that terminal until things were fixed. no word on what caused those tires to blow. at least 7 people were shot and two killed at a church's chicken restaurant in shig shik tuesday. it all started when an argument, one person pulled out a gun and reportedly chased the intended victim into the restaurant where several shots were fired.

two people were hurt when a small plane was forced to crash land in california. the plane crash landed near a runway at the airport. both victims are said to be in good condition. and another incident involving a plane crash that happened monday near the florida keys. witnesses say they saw the plane in trouble, heard the engine cutting out and saw it nose dive into the ocean. luckily three boaters were able to pull out the three people on board. they were not hurt. they towed the plane to shallow water. baltimore losing a bit of its history. the popular eatly going to close its doors and become a thing of the past. smile, the positive way you could be preventing a stroke. that story straight ahead. >> in today's tech bytes an active activation day. many found mobile devices under their trees and nearly 7 million of them activated their devices

right away. that's more than double the number last year. some of those new apple users are getting what looks like a message from apple but it's not. it's asking recipients to update their billing information including credit card information. it looks real but it is a phishing scam in fact. >> more people use netflix to watch movies online. netflix users spend more than twice as much time watching as hulu users. the world's largest ledtv. it's 55 inches. the company is also going to show off the world's largest 3 dledtv and that is at 2 inchs.

es. a snowstorm caused traffic problems in indiana. luckily no one was injured in that crash. this is near indianapolis. now yous working to clear those roads as quickly as possible. so far only rain in our area but could things be changing? justin, you said some models might be indicating a change next week? >> yeah. really interesting yesterday how a couple of models came into agreement trying to give us something impressive in the early week time frame. now, the timing in the overnight models have it bringing in a little bit earlier. look at the middle school, 32-mile-per-hour gusts, that's just since midnight. and temperatures hovering in the 25 to 30-mile-per-hour winds. look at these temperatures. 39 in churchville. and even annapolis. the clouds spreading back in, it

does look like we're getting some trickery here with our infrared satellite. some of that clearing on the eastern shore but on this side of the bay we've got those clouds from those showers of the snow variety back to our west. now for us building into partly to mostly cloudy sky. winds close to 40 miles per hour. on the roadways right now another problem to report. if you're traveling into the city on the bw parkway, northbound 295 at the harbor tunnel throughway only one lane getting by. got an overturned vehicle accident there. otherwise the bw parkway, a pretty good route to take between baltimore and d. krment as well as i-95. making your way through the ellicott city columbia area and here's a look at route 32 east and westbound traffic. smooth sailing on 32 between 95 and i-97. back to you. >> getting ready to miss one of the most historic hot dogs in

waves of sclouds with that storm to our north, maybe some rain showers on and off into the weekend. today we're close to 43. a brief slip and then trying to work our way back with strong gusty winds that could reach 30 to 40 miles per hour this afternoon. partly cloudy sky at some point back to clearing, 25 skwoefr night. quick peek here at the rest of the week and it's early next week as well. again, temperatures back into the 50s on friday and saturday. could have some rain showers mainly north of baltimore as we're heading into the holiday weekend including more clouds on new year's day and that potential for an east coast storm. some models are locked in on it so it's still a question mark but it looks like a rain to mix some accumulating snow event on

monday night into tuesday. let's see what's happening right now. 7 minutes out your door. >> and as you get ready to head out this morning heading north into the city you may want to hop on i-95 because we've got trouble on the bw parkway. an overturned vehicle. that is going to be at 895, the harbor tunnel throughway. just one lane getting by so you may want to hop on 95 northbound to make your way into the city this morning. in the meantime southbound traffic look pretty good on 95, 295 as well as 29. all moving well with very light flow of traffic. here's a look at 50 and i-97 having an earlier problem at 50 and richey highway. just an activity on the shoulder and if you're traveling on the harrisburg expressway 83 at route 45 your drive times this morning pretty much average for the most part. no significant backups on 83 or the beltway. back to you. it wasn't just the electronics and gadgets flying off shelves for the holidays. what one national organization is saying as the reason why. you're watching good
