paid for by newt gingrich's wealthiest supporters. romney says his company created 100,000 jobs a net gain, when asked how many jobs his company slashed, his campaign refused to answer. tj winnick, abc news, back to you. deadly house fire, closer to home, essex, claiming the lives of two women. linda so has new information on the fatal fire. she join us live now. >> reporter: we got off the phone with the fire investigator. the women are mother and daughter. their names haven't been released. we did a search and shows the home belongs to a woman named carol. it broke out on arn cliff road. the women were upstairs, one was rushed to frank lynn square, the other to bay view, both did not make it.

>> they pulled one lady out, she was kind of like, she looked in bad shape. they brought somebody else out, they were breaking all the windows and there was a lot of smoke. >> firefighters say they had a hard time getting in the house because of so much clutter. the cause of the fire is under investigation. what neighbors say happened to the women earlier in the day that had them in the hospital. howard county, a mother has been charged abusing her child before he was killed. the charges come nearly a year after 2-year-old elijah was killed in a separate incident. he died from asphyxiation in april. no one has been charged. utah doctor who performed a botched late term abortions will be heading to maryland to face murder charges. police began investigating riley and dr. steven in august 2010 after a botched surgery at

his clinic. nicole waived extradition on monday after a judge denied a request for bail. no word yet on when riley will be brought back to maryland. many of you may reck ing recognize this man. this -- he was arrested in florida on warrants related to paving schemes there. he paved a driveway for a 29- year-old woman without her permission and went to her bank to get $8500 for the payment. the state's attorney plans to have him extradited to maryland. florida may want to try him first. big game is less than a week away. players and fans are getting ramped up in baltimore. with the painted streets in purple all over the area, covering the darkness what does harbaugh have to say? kuren redmond has a preview of what we can expect.

alaska is being buried by the blizzard of 2012. they've had snow everyday since december 17th. that is 175 inches of snow in 24 days. 20 feet. more is expected as another system expected to come through today. there is no way of getting in and out by road, or by sea, we have a live look outside here. we are nowhere close to weather like that in alaska. we saw flakes as justin berk

answers. neighbors say she was caring and is in shock that someone could possibly hurt her. murder investigation 4.5 years old is making headlines after an arrest is made. william mc donald is arrested for shooting benjamin curtis in the head in august of 2006. police in new jersey said they found the gun used in the murder a month after the shooting but there was no link to a suspect until now. prosecutors will only say they got new information last year and that was corroborated with cell phone records from the night of the shooting. education alert for you, teachers are taking a food drive seriously. camping out until they reach their goal. how much food they are hoping to collect. let's check in with sherrie johnson, live in len dale with the teachers. >> reporter: we are here in lithicum. they are camped out in an effort to collect donations for

the needy. their goal, they are trying to go 7800 pounds. at the rate they are going, they can get there. right now i have bob mosier with me. good morning, bob. what is going on here? >> this is part of a great effort for a second year by the community collaboration team to help the needy. 7800 pounds of food last year, they are hoping to raise 10,000 for the arundel county food bank. >> they got their tents and sleeping bags, a group of them , there are teachers over there. they are sitting out waiting for your donations. why is this so important? >> schools are a big part of the community. we are fortunate to have great relationships with business partners, this effort part of the community collaboration

search team rescued three men from a cave in west virginia. the men didn't return sunday night. crews went looking for them. they seemed to be okay. experts were involved in the search. how far is far? tsa defending decision to con fi kate a cupcake from a woman flying to las vegas. it was packed in a jar filled with icing, considered a jell under traveling policy. the passenger was barred from taking the cupcake on the plane when the icing exceeded the amount of gel allowed in carry on luggage. that is the tsa. hello to meteorologist, justin berk. still trying to work on the pictures. there is snowfall reports across the region. point 4 inches at bwi. under an inch in annapolis.

the snowfall slicing the state in half. 34, that's important here in baltimore, even with the snowfall, temperatures above freezing. we should not have too many icy spots. roads have been treated. there maybe a spot or two to be concerned with and always bridges and overpasses. 36 ocean city. they had snow yesterday. richmond between rich richmond and dc, heavy snow. once the system exits off the coast, residual fog. it's interesting. that's where we have mid level clouds, low level clouds and fog. these are the places with the snow yesterday. northside of baltimore and beyond nothing but around the beltway, i-70 southbound, some left on the grass this morning. that will melt away in a hurry.

there is our next storm. we talked about tornados in texas near houston. snow wrapping around the backside. that's our low pressure in to the gulf of mexico moisture. that's going to flow stuff in our direction. not a lot of cold air, trapped in eastern canada. we will tap in to it as the rain spreads our way. midday tomorrow , the clouds roll in. we go down hill, rain could arrive by the evening commute or beyond. heavy rain tomorrow. rumbles of thunder thursday morning. our future model indicating how much precipitation we can get here and if we can get this, we are expecting close to an inch of rain, maybe higher amounts. this is ending by thursday morning. we turn sharply colder on the backside. today looking for temperatures in the 50s. i think we got something wrong with the clicker. it's correct down there. 52 we are expecting.

massive fire sweeping through western peru. the fire started in a kitchen of one of the homes yesterday in a camp and quickly spread. what made matters worse are gas canisters throughout the village began exploding and spread the fire further and faster. a short circuit could have
