for cancer. a new study shows the link between cirrhosissed meat and cancer. for every 50 graham serving a day your risk goes up 19%. a connection has already been shown between processed meats and colon cancer. >> the question has been swirling around for decades. >> this study was based on data from 7 different studies including more than 6600 cases of pancreatic cancer. while this new conclusion about breakfast meat is not surprising, there are other big risk factors, smoking, diabetes, obesity and lack of exercise. so before you cut out bacon and sausage all together, keep in mind that the overall risk is low. >> right now your lifetime risk is 1.4%. if you have a serving of processed meat per day your risk would go up to 1.7%. still very small.

>> doctors already say you should eat less processed meat for overall health. this study is further evidence to make a switch to better male choices. >> look for products that don't have nigh trites. they're the ones causing the cancer. >> turkey bacon and/or begannic bacon and sausage are made without nitrates and may be healthier. >> the montana teacher that has been missing since going for a run on saturday is dead. according to the school district where she taught. the fbi has a man in custody and is questioning another in connection with her disappearance. her school says they heard about her death this morning. she was reported missing after she did not return from a run last saturday. it was a cold and windy day here but people across the midwest dealing with much worse. frigid air and blowing snow. in chicago they had a wind chill near 0 and up to 6-inches of snow in some places. hundreds of flights had to be canceled.

we're talking about very cold game here. just above freezing from kick off. maybe up to the mid 30s through the course of the game. variably cloudy. we could see a stray snow flurry or two. hopefully it makes the guys from texas feel that much more uncomfortable. take a look at the current conditions. 36 now, look at the wind. west at 22 and gusting higher than that. as we look at some of the weather through today you see the clouds whipping across the skies, yeah, it was a chilly, chilly scenario. no question about that. sunshine did not warm things up much. not with those winds howling out of the north. it was the same deal today. shaking our camera and maryland's most powerful radar shows not a thing. we continue to stay dry right through the end of the weekend. next weather maker due in next week but we will stay cold and temperatures are not going to

move much on the needle as we go saturday into sunday. we're mid to upper 30s now but there's even colder air out in western maryland that's 12 above in oakland. winds from the west at 20. that's cold skiing and as we take a look at the current wind gusts, 20, 25, what does that make the air temperature feel like? well, 20s in many spots, even teens in terms of the wind chill factor. across the mid-atlantic, it's a quite scenario. we're in a dry spot. western pa getting snow showers. west virginia getting some snow. we're really in a dry spot now so we stay clear tonight but cold and blustery. temperatures continue to fall, the winds eventually letting up overnight tonight and to the north and west still a lot of snow up here across the great lakes region but the cold blast sunk in all the way through the carolinas and georgia where everyone is definitely feeling the chill tonight. all right. let's take a look as we go into

the weekend, how do things potentially change? not much. we will look for, you know, some passing cloud cover at times tomorrow, into saturday evening, no new storm systems but just enough of a north westerlily flow to keep the clouds around and keep fresh cold air flowing into the stay so we don't warm up progressively each day even into sunday. sunday looks sun anyiest by the afternoon but again a very cold start. it would be tough to climb out of the mid, maybe upper 30s if we're lucky. overnight down to 26 but feels like teen with the wind out there and tomorrow we'll go 36, partly cloudy, still on the blustery and chilly side, down into the low 20s but not as windy at least. let's check out your 7 day forecast as we look ahead, we find temperatures hovering in the 30s through the outlook. we do begin to moderate toward mlk day on monday. temperatures back above 40 and

>> every winter we hear about lives lost because of carbon monoxide poisoning but health experts warn you to have an eye on your furnace and make sure you don't have a leak like that. build up. the american lung association says about 450 die each year and 50,000 are sickened by carbon monoxide. >> a connecticut high school is planning to take a bold step offering students birth control and condoms at school. this will be the first time they offer any form of birth control to students. the school says parents will be sent a letter offering an opportunity to let their child opt out of that program. >> a new study offers advice for changing behavior when eating out. the u.s. department of ago raw video culture say people add an average of 134 calories today, average, when they eat away
