tidings bridge southbound right lane closed with overnight construction. charley, good morning. >> good morning. and new this morning, two, two alarm house fires. first just before midnight owings mills on bridgeton court. dispatchers say no one was-side the house at the time and investigators -- was inside the house at the time and the investigators say the fire destroyed the home. the second fire was an explosion. the fire happened a little before one on little meadow road they were trying to make sure it didn't spread to other homes. no one was injured. continuing coverage on police search for three suspects who broke into a family's home and terrorized a man white family was upstairs and -- while the family was upstairs and heard the whole thing. linda so is here with details on the man's condition. >> reporter: he will need surgery from the burns he got while being tortured. police are look for three suspects. he want to warn you the images you are about to see are hard

to watch. he had to get 7 staples in his head from being whipped with a rifle. his eastern was bender by the iron and both on his palms are so bad he can't feel his hands. the victim says he was home with his fiancee and three kids ages 18, 3 and 19 months when three masked men forced into the glen burnie home on cedar furnace circle. the fiancee and three kids were at gunpoint and the man was tortured for more than an hour. very many says the suspects kept demanding money and whipped and cut and burned him. >> he put the knife on the stove and tried to cut it off. he was trying to slap the finger off and he burned his finger stripe to slap the finger off. >> reporter: the suspects left with the victim's car found a short time later. they took cash, cell phones and lap tops and gaming system. the family installed an alarm and is looking to move. they say they don't know why

they were targeted. linda so, abc2 news. and this morning the trial for lee stevens will continue he is accused of killing corporal a correctional officer at the maryland house of correction. he will show how the jail cell at jessup was easily rigged and a jail cell door will be brought into the courtroom. this begins this morning at nine. the state is seeking the death penalty against lee stevens. police in and a also identified the body of a woman washed on the beach monday in annapolis. tyler cordry's body was found. her body was missing following a sailboat accident in mid december. death pnlt opponents are craft agnew bill to ban the death penalty in maryland but it's unclear if they have the votes. opponents pushed to abolish the measure in maryland during the legislative session. they brought high-profile speakers to annapolis on monday to make the case including kim

davis whose brother troy was executed in georgia last year despite some witnesses recanting their original testimony. also at that rally a man wrongly convicted of raping and murdering a woman in 1948. he was the first person in the country to have his conviction overturned using dna evidence. >> maryland got it wrong and i don't want them to get it wrong. only way to make sure you don't get it wrong is don't do it. >> a strong deterrent to crime and we will see what happens this session. >> two years ago the general assembly passed a by placing stronger limits on cases that could lead to the death penalty. supporters say that's far enough right now. another rally didn't end so peacefully. this is from the occupy baltimore protests going for the eviction of mckeeledan square. with details on that here's sherrie johnson.

>> reporter: well, i just got off the phone with state police and we have new reaction. the occupy movement is back in baltimore speak out against social injustice. protesters gathered in east baltimore to make their voices heard and gathered where a new juvenile jail is being built. the group was there to try to convince the city to stop building the jail and want the money put towards fixing up schools. at some point they climbed the fence into the construction site and started to build a structure. maryland state troopers arrested six of the people fortress passing. -- for trespassing. >> the state is proposing to build a jail for use at 104 million dollars when they presumably don't have any money whatsoever and they could spend that money on schools in serious need of repair rather than jailing the youth. if they spent it on schools, surely the significant enough of youth would not need to be in -- would not go through incarceration. >> reporter: once the

now "good morning maryland" at 4:30. welcome back. this is known as the snowiest city in alaska, the city of valdez. more than 322 inches of snow on the ground. don't worry we converted the

on right now, we are dry around baltimore bel air but the rain is pushing in. the heavier rain down to the south washington if your commute takes you that way into waldorf and fred ribs burst and we are -- fredericksburg we are dealing with more rain sliding to the eastern shore around easton. more of the same in cambridge. we got a little break earlier but the rain is moving back in and that will be the scenario as we go through the remainder of the morning. and also this afternoon. we will have the on and off rain throughout the day. temperatures this morning not too bad. around 42 degrees. have the coat and make sure to have your umbrella. let's go over to angela with your traffic. how are the roads this morning. >> reporter: actually, we are getting reports of icy conditions near westminster and dealing with a serious accident. an arundel county police are directing traffic on u.s. 50 near davidsonville at 424. tractor trailer involved with an incident. we have the westbound lanes

we will talk about that. i will do it later but let's talk about the weather because it's important this morning. aid little wet out there -- it's a little wet out there. we are not dealing with too much ice. we got reports in carroll and york county of sleet. now we are dealing with rany conditions this morning. and -- rany condition this morning many we will -- rainy conditions this morning and we will see off and on rain throughout the day. mild air going through the afternoon. around 54 for a high today. it's not going to be a real cold rain. through the 8:00 time frame tapering off showers going through the evening and that's good news out there. and then we will get much more sunshine in here as we go into tomorrow. but temperatures are really going to drop off. so for today, 54 degrees. periods of rain and mild and breezy and by tonight temperatures coming in around 35 degrees. the showers will be tapering off but the wind will be on the gusty side -- winds will be on the gusty side. 39 degrees and ample sunshine

it's tuesday, january 17th. good morning. i am charley crowson. let's head over to meteorologist lynette charles with a check of the forecast and you're going to do that cheer a little later this morning. i am calling you out. >> i know i keep my promises. yes i will do it. you know, what it's going to be a soggy tuesday, but the good news is it's not a soggy monday right? so we will be seeing off and on showers going throughout the day. temperatures are going to be on the mild side. so it won't be a cold rain. i am forecasting 54 degrees and it gets cold going into tomorrow but the sunshine moves back in. i have a little bit of good with the bad going throughout the day. so maryland's most powerful radar not so great for the commute out this morning. if you are going to be checking southward into dc and virginia, you will get in on the heavier rein across the area. and even maybe if you are heading across the bay, you will be dealing with heavier rain as well. so taking you to easton also into traffic and see some of the yellows moving into cambridge. now over to angela with y
