million miles an hour solar storm heading to earth. good morning maryland. let's head over to lynette charles. good morning. this morning we're not dealing with any fog. we're nice and dry. as you look at maryland's most powerful radar, we'll see more wet weather moving here as we go through tomorrow and late this evening and overnight into tomorrow morning but the bulk of the rain will stick around as we go into friday so it looks like a two day event coming in. you'll get some sunshine out there. but the clouds will be on the increase. and the winds pretty much calm right now and they'll pick up a little more as we go through the day. clarksville, more the same there and the temperature coming in at 34 degrees and we'll start you off with temperatures in the 30s this morning and we'll gradually get into the 40s as we go into lunchtime around 42 degrees and i'm forecasting 46 for the high today. and that is five degrees above what we should be now for this

time of the year. and if we get more sunshine in we could be a little warmer than that. and now over to angela. it's not ands' i didn't drive for people in pikesville. crash officials and emergency personnel still there. and the congestion behind this, it is now a 14 minute delay from 795 to route 44 and frederick road. once you get past this point, not too bad on the beltway's west side. and for those of you traveling on the harrisburg expressway, it's still not too bad making it to the top side of 695 and we're getting a report of some congestion spots of southbound 83 from middle town road to belfast. but not too bad here. the driven time to the top side

there a few minutes. students, faculty and penn state alums are lining up to pay their final respects to former penn state coach joe paterno. sherrie johnson is here with a preview of what we just learned in the past hour. >> reporter: the service follows another public viewing that will begin at 8:00 this morning followed by a private funeral. we learned new information about the procession. a new facebook page has more than 5,000 people who will follow the procession starting at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. his burial service is private. but anyone is welcomed to line the procession. people are encourage the to wear white and stay linked arm to arm on the side of the street and they hope it will create a human chain and the unity to all of those involved. >> people think of him more than just a coach. they think of him as a leader and think of him as someone

in our area. they are expected to be 1 new locations this year and one of them is in camden yards. super bowl is bringing economic development in indianapolis. the nfl makes a big donation to the host city for the big game. the officials are putting the monies toward giving a near east side section of the city a complete makeover. the $154 million project includes the construction of new apartments and condos and a new outdoor marketplace. big crowds are expected for the super bowl and now manager cans text wait times. it will be done with a team of 15 volunteers. the captian will be wearing a shirt with a question mark on it for anyone who has any questions. for more on this "good morning maryland" on this january 25th. your abc 2 news to go is

manchester. and mid-30s in millersville. chestertown coming in around 35 and more of the same in rock hall this morning. the satellite not picking up on a lot right announcement we're starting to see a few high level to mid-level clouds filtering in. but check out what is really going to many of in here tomorrow. we have a storm system making its way from the south and west. and we'll see wet weather in the forecast. that could linger as we go into friday morning. and the hour-by-hour forecast today, 42 by lunchtime and 4:00 p.m., a high around 46 degrees and more sign and the temperature might soar a little more. and now over to angela. good morning. we continue to monitor accident on the beltway west side. it's a sea of break lights on the beltway trying to maneuver through indicate caddenseville. and the current drive time is about 15 minutes from the

northwest expressway to getting past this incident. and this is impacting southbound traffic on 795. it's moving at a draw from owings mills boulevard trying to access the jam packed outer loop lanes. we're dealing with a report of an accident i-95 to fort mchenry tunnel. the police are headed there. and if you're traveling on 29 this morning, folks in howard county, not too bad, you're dealing with typical rush hour delays in the southbound direction on 29, making the drive from i07 past maryland 108 to the burtonsville region. a new report released overnight regarding maryland public schoolteachers and exactly how girlfriend a job they're doing. sherrie johnson has been looking through the documentation overnight.

and she's telling us right now what she's got. >> reporter: i just got off the phone with a couple of county educators and they were not able to give me a comment because they said they did not know enough about the report. i found highlights from recent progress in maryland schools. we're talking about evidence of student learning and teacher evaluations and more program requirements. overall, this new report gave maryland public schools a d plus. this comes from the national council on teacher quality. it's a research and policy group to make sure that every child has an effective teacher. maryland improves slightfully delivering well prepared teachers and they remained the same in scanning the teacher pool. there was a light improvement in identifying affective teachers. but the state slipd when it came to retaining -- slipped when it came to retaining

more state funding. the meeting will be between the governor and treasurer and it's known as the beg-a-thon because they stream before the board a long list of requests. and the governor hope that's the people will start calling it the hope-a-thon instead. new information showed that first lady michelle obama and agriculture secretary will push for more school lunches to offer veggies and whole grains. they will make the announcement in a few hours that lunches will have less sodium. popular pizzas will still be on the school lunch lines but made with healthier ingredients that is good news. great news indeed. and cardinal edwin o'brien will talk to the media. it will be his first public appearance after being named to the college of cardinals. he's going to talk about tomorrow's trip to haiti where there will be a dedication of a new school funded by catholics

forecast. no solar flares in your forecast. no solar flares. but we have high pressure in control of our weather. this cold front passed through the area and bringing in a specific air mass that is why the temperatures are not as cold as they usually are because we're not getting the canadian air. about the big story is that we will stay dry and we have wet weather that will move in here. as we go through the overnight and maybe mixing with a little bit of sleet and rain switching to all rain by the time we hit thursday afternoon. that will linger as we go into friday morning. it's going to be a slippery commute to work. i'll be here to get you through nice and safely. as we look at temperature coming in today around 46 degrees and increasing cloud cover and cooler than it was yesterday. yesterday's high was 59 degrees. tonight the temperature around 34 degrees and by tomorrow, 46 once again with periods of rain across the area. here to check of the 7-day forecast for you is we'll stay above average as we go into

time. check out the temperature on friday coming in around 53 degrees. now a check of your traffic with angela. to the roads right now you can see we're creeping along on the west side outer loop. this has been the biggest problem all morning long and the accident is frederick road and we have emergency personnel and crews in the left lane at frederick road. because of this lane, the backup extends past 795 now almost 5 minutes in that delay on the west side outer loop trying to maneuver through the pikes. in addition to this on 795 southbound very heavy with the reported accident at owings mill boulevard. so tough morning out there. coming up on good good, you'll hear from the wife of the captain of that italian cruise line they're ran aground in litly. she's talking about her -- italy and she's talking about her husband. and vice president joe biden will talk about the
