a powerful, slow-moving storm is bearing down on the rockies and central plains. blizzard warnings are in effect. >> many schools are closed today. nearly 200 flights canceled thus far at denver international airport. amy aronson is track it all. >> on friday, winter kicks into full gear. winds could gust as much as 40 miles per hour in this purple zone. some places will get up to two feet of snowfall. >> it's not expected to end in some places until tomorrow. if denver gets two feet of snow, it would be the fourth largest snowfall ever. we'll have a live report coming up from denver on "good morning america."

to politics now. mitt romney is way ahead in the polls. he also have an endorsement from donald trump. as we hear from david muir, that endorsement cuts both ways. >> reporter: it was like a scene out of a reality show. standing side by side with mitt romney and his wife delivering the endorsement. >> governor romney, go out and get them. you can do it. >> reporter: then, governor romney acknowledged what many at home might be thinking. is this really happening? >> there's some things you can't imagine happening in your life. this is one of them. >> reporter: the two shook hands in a room where the podium had just one name, trump. the billionaire who brings the cameras everywhere he goes. and he hasn't always had nice things to say about the governor. once saying, he's going lose, he doesn't resonate.

she's field official paperwork to get the green party's nomination. she seas democrats and republicans are not working in the best interest of the american people. and the president unveils his plan to help returning veterans to find jobs. it would put them to work on the nation's trains, roads, and lea levees. and turning overseas to israel, which the u.s. is trying to convince not to attack iran's nuclear site. israel believes iran is making significant steps to producing a nuclear bomb. the obama administration is saying that air strikes would only strengthen theegime in iran. >> reporter: the united states is genuinely concerned about that. many in the administration, many in the military are planning for this.

they do not want israel to attack iran. but they're trying to prepare for that possibility, trying to see what the reaction would be around the world. >> the hope is to hold off any israeli attacks until the new t e est sanctions take effect. in egypt, protesters battled police. they're angry over the soccer riots that killed over 70 people. two people were killed last night in clashes in a different city. and a followup to the shutdown of the nuclear power plant in southern california. unusual wear has been found now on dozens of tubes that carry radio active water at the san onofre plant. the tubes are just over a year old. the disclosure comes two days after the officials had to shut down a reactor. in hawaii, coast guard crews

welcome back, everybody. today's government jobs report could be crucial. it's expected to show a little improvement in january. forecasts are for 150,000 to 170,000 new jobs last month. the report will be seen as an indicator of how the economic recovery is doing so far. it's likely to be an issue in the presidential campaign. mortgage rates have hit a new low. the average for a 30-year fixed rate loan is just 3.87%. on a 15-year mortgage, 3.14%. overseas investors are cautious awaiting this morning's u.s. jobs report.
