implementing certain programs like this to educate children on finances. and new this morning, governor o'malley is depending president obama over the economy. he appeared sunday on cnn and says if you look at president's record, jobs are created. >> i think really, there's one central issue, and that is the economy. and he think the best two indicate -- i think the best two indicators if the economy is becoming better on getting worse is job creation numbers, 23 months in a row now of positive job creation. we haven't done that since 2005 as a country. >> o'malley blamed republicans saying if the gop were not captive of the right wingtea party folks the economy would be better. maryland brewing companies are trying to change the state law to allow more restaurants and laws to sell beer in resealable containers. only brew pubs that make their own beer on the premises and

now "good morning maryland" at 4:30. parts of the country expect a lot of snow this time of year but this is bad even for nebraska. >> check this out. this video near omaha several cars trucks got stuck in the snow. some lost control and ran off the road. the storm forced schools to close and hundreds of flights out of the denver international

airport were delayed or canceled because of blizzard conditions. blizzard warnings were issued for western nebraska and eastern colorado as well as western kansas. we saw a little bit of snow over the weekend and it was so pretty. >> it was great. came in the afternoon and was gone. if you think about the week, we had 60s on monday and tuesday, and snow on saturday. >> i know. exactly, and the thing is with the mild temperatures i know a lot of people like them but if you like the snow, when it comes, it is not going to stick because the ground is too warm and that's what we had over the weekend. satellite and radar and -- picking up on nothing. nebraska getting a break a few snow showers around the corner but nothing like over the weekend. we come closer to home and the satellite and radar not picking up on anything. we are not having clouds. we are void of that. so that's going to translate into lots of sunshine once again as we go into the afternoon. but before we get that sunshine, check out the temperatures this morning. oh, boy, the kids need to be bundled up because we are

dealing with temperatures in the 20s this morning. good morning towson around 21. bel air 27. manchester at 30. and as we look at the eastern shore, we see the mid to upper 20s in centerville, chestertown and northeast around 26. are you going to stick around? we will talk about how warm it will get and the rain snow mix on wednesday. let's check of your traffic with angela. good morning. how are the roads looking? there's fog out there. is it affecting it. >> reporter: not so far. we are kicking off the workweek are great driving conditions. no early incidents to report as of yet. as we have what check of the major weeks looked at 95 and 295 the bw parkway no reported troubles there. and for those of you driving through howard county on u.s. 29, very easy driving conditions as you make the drive from i-70 heading down through howard county to prince georges's county and montgomery county and that vicinity. u.s. 50 at sandy point. those of you coming from the eastern shore all lanes opened on the chesapeake bay bridge.

fries and a burger and gives us license to eat worse but it's linked to metabolic syndrome which gives you er risk of developing heart attack or stroke. like high blood pressure elevated cholesterol. diabetes those things. >> okay. and we are talking diet soda everyone says moderation is key. what is moderation one a day? >> that's the thing about the studies. moderation you think if i have one that's fine. that's not fine. moderation probably means just maybe a few times a week because in this study, they found even one diet soda a day can increase your risk of stroke and heart attack. >> okay. a lot of effects. heart disease, stroke being the key factors, but coming up in the next half-hour, we are going to take a look at an interesting study that talks about caffeine and the risk it can have on women younger women and their estrogen. >> that's right. >> all right. we will stay tuned for that. that's coming at 5. back to you. >> all right. news time 4:42. she vanished nearly three years ago and this morning a

now. chicago, coming in at 30 degrees. and miami, 73. i will show you that area in a second because they are dealing with showers and that could affect our area as we go into your wednesday. but right now, temperatures a little closer to home. 29 in baltimore. so we are very cold this morning. you need to bundle up as you head out and about. we look at eastern shore and the temperatures coming in around 28 degrees and at the nation's capital we are coming in right around the freezing point. now, this morning, we are dealing with some visibility problems. yes, we have a little patchy fog around the eastern shore and easton about five-mile visibility. 9 into baltimore and we need to get to the 10 we are seeing into dc. 5 in frederick and 6 mile visibility into hagerstown. 7 in york and more in winchester. satellite and radar not picking up on a lot across the area. clear skies and as we take it to the south this is what i wanted to show you, you can see showers a little bit of convection around this area. i am showing you this to let you know there's moisture in place and this moisture could

move into our area as we go into your wednesday. and that could be getting us the rain-snow mix i am talking about. i will let you know what's happening with that. today, high pressure is in control once again. we are dealing with the patchy fog this morning as we go throughout the day and we will be seeing lots of sunshine and it's going to be a nice day to enjoy. temperatures not so bad out there as well. your future trend picking up on what's going on. follow that timeline for me. i will put it in motion and not a lot changing. lots of sunshine in the forecast. there's the system you see trying to keep it into the atlantic and going to keep you update on it because some of the models are burying and see where it -- bearing and see where this goes. i might be stretching it but you never know. i will check the models but as of now, there is a chance as the low pressure comes in, we could see rain and snow as we go into your wednesday. that's going to be a big thing that we are talking about as we go through time here. now, temperatures coming in at

50 degrees. we will see lots of sunshine for today. it will be mild once again we should be at 43 degrees now for a high for this time of the year. i am talking about 50s. 34 as we go through tonight. we will see the clouds increasing on a southerly breeze. and then by tomorrow, that temperature comes in right around 5 # degrees and will be partly cloudy and a bit milder outside. and -- 53 degrees and will be partly cloudy and a bit milder outside. before next weekend we see the 50s and we have 4 # on wednesday and there's the wintery mix. a question mark behind that. and we see lots of sunshine heading into the end of the week and in a cold air mass rolls in as we go into saturday and sunday. that's when we need to see stickage at the ground and we will keep-eye on that. tell me about traffic right now are you seeing fog and is it affecting the road heways. >> reporter: we are seeing quite a bit of fog. south of us and, of course, east of us, traveling on the bay bridge now north of us, not too bad. we had a check of the hatem bridge on u.s. 40 between havre de grace and perryville.

95 on the tidings bridge we will look at in a moment. let's get a look at some of the foggy conditions that may be be a hazard for you impacting the monday morning drive. a live look at 95. this is north of the beltway in arbutus. as you can see it's foggy here and extra caution out there especially on those bridges and overpasses. here's 95 at the tidings bridge not too bad for you here. still dealing with overnight work zones as you make the drive through the spans of the tidings bridge. but as we mentioned on 50, especially traveling south and east of the area, we are getting reports of foggy conditions on the bay bridge and also extra caution on the key bridge traveling on the east side of 695. megan and charley over to you as part of black history month, august wilson is coming to morgan state university and will star sesame street dad. the play is february 9th through 12th at gillman concert hall. eye examination father -- examines father son

at 4:30. news around the world a 6.8 earthquake struck off the coast of the philippines. this is video people out after the quake struck. >> it killed at least 13 people as it destroyed buildings and triggered landslides and buried dozens of houses trapping residents. at least 29 people are missingand as many as 30 homes were buried. more unrest in syria and syrian troops shelling neighborhoods in the homes overnight striking a makeshift medical clinic in an assault that killed 12 people. bloodshed was one day after the president's government vowed to particular the crackdown on nearly 11-month-old uprising and becoming one of the deadliest. there's growing tension between the united states as well as egypt right now. 19 americans will face criminal trials in egypt and ordered not to leave the country. the state department says they are concern about the situation
