landscaping piece of equipment at 1:30 in the morning seemed suspicious. >> reporter: state police said 38-year-old mark joseph kyle of linthicum took off and sped down to nick codeem must road before turning into a neighborhood where the trailer overturned, sending the truck down a steep embankment. kyle fled on foot but didn't get star. stance bury said he's thankful the trooper saved his equipment this time but he doubts it will be the last time. >> i think people are out to get money anyway they can to support their habits. everybody i know has something stolen from them. it's everywhere. >> reporter: according to the suspect's criminal history. mark joseph kyle has been charged with acting as a contractor without a license and failing to perform work in anne arundel county, baltimore city and prince george's county. jeff hager, abc2 news. baltimore police are looking for the person who shot a man

found lying in the street this afternoon in west baltimore. police say an officer on patrol saw the mon on the ground -- man on the ground in the 1100 block of stricker. he was taken to the hospital and rushed into surgery. dlects -- detectives are asking anywho have seen the accident to give them a call. jury selection began for the trial of george huguely, the former la crosse player accused of beating his girlfriend two years ago. >> reporter: yeardley love's mom and her sister are in a charlottesville courtroom while others are trying to see how the trial plays out. the jury selection is on for the trial of george huguely. a medical examiner ruled that blunt force trauma killed yeardley love. police say that huguely admitted

that he and love were fighting. however, his lawyers contend her death was quote a tragic accident. attorneys for both sides are asking potential jurors are they aware of adderral. it is opened that a jury can be seated. four people have been selected for this gorps -- jury. the trial is expected to last four weeks. a judge has ruled that no cameras would be allowed in court. jamie costello, abc2 news. >> abc2 news will close it from the opening statements to the

closing arguments. a cecil county pastor is charged with tax fraud and theft and many members of the church say it does not stop there. the state's attorney charged pastor woodrow fannin of tabernacle church on pulaski highway. they said he filed bogus tax returns and stole as much as $100,000 from the federal government. the details of the arraignment will not come out until later this month. coming up tonight at 6:00, website woab news by -- abc2 news brian kuebler will have more. >> you see the cameras blowing around. saw a little bit of sunshine. let's check in with meteorologist wyatt everhart who joins us from the storm center. >> more of that mighty fine

than the two sons entered his home, they say he did the unthinkable. he murdered them. an email cept to his attorney minutes earlier josh said just three words -- "i'm sorry. good-bye." >> the only way he could win this was by to kill them. >> reporter: the family saga began in 2009 with the disappearance of his wife, susan. the sole person of interest josh claims he had taken his sons camping. they moved in with their father steven. but when he was charged with voyeurism, custody was transferred to susan's parents. a judge ordered him to undergeha psych evaluation and polygraph. he was supposed to have a supervised visit. >> she pounded on the door,

same scenario and finding, again, quiet weather a light chop on the seven tonight. in bel air, nice and clear, just a lot of traffic as there always seems to be on main street. maryland's most powerful radar crystal clear that will continue into tomorrow, tomorrow night. if we're going to get precipitation, it would appear it comes wednesday afternoon, but those chances looking kind of slim. 50s out there now. 40s on the eastern shore. that southwest wind can create a slightly cooler scenario on the western half of delmarva where you get that cool breeze. for most of us it's a warmer breeze and pushes us up into the mid-50s. just over the virginia line, could see 60. some patchy clouds. quiet across the mid-atlantic states. offshore we are watching an intercoastal situation right off the carolina coast, but the high

pressure dome that's in place right now will push any coastal weather out. so we think right now this coastal weather will continue to push further out. we'll stay dry. you see very dry air in place at the surface as well and that certainly is making its presence felt in term ofs of the very dry air. maybe a little extra chap stick in mind, but the bottom line is this has been clear, mild and pleasant and referring back to that potential coastal system as we look at this thing, you can see this does blow up but gets pushed further out thanks to the high pressure sitting off the delmarva coast. normally that would be more of a concern for us but it will not be as it continues to get pushed out. increased clouds on wednesday and perhaps enough moisture to generate some showers, maybe some winter type showers, rain mixed with snow. this does not look that impressive on our model runs. by the way, very interesting

february. >> we'll keep this pattern going, positive energy. children living in urban cities face lots of temptations. it's committed to helping children fulfill their dreams and doles. the nonprofit organization offer has mentoring program for young girls. sherrie johnson shows us how the program works. >> reporter: here at stewart hill academy in west baltimore, these young girls are listening to a powerpoint program a mentorship program to help girls. >> i think it's fun. it helps a lot. if you don't have someone to talk to, don't feel comfortable like your mother or something, your big sister, you can talk to her. i like it. >> reporter: this mentorship program serves about 50 girls. college students are mentors

trying to set tell on the -- them on the right path. they meet once a week for about an hour. they talk about everything from relationships to friends to self-esteem, trying to help them make better decisions. >> some of them are coming from broken homes. just different backgrounds they're coming from, so it's somewhere they clan go to, you know, not be on the street or, you know -- so it's a positive thing. >> reporter: empowering miensd started this mentorship program in 2003. since then it's made a huge impact on students. >> we had a young lady who was actually thinking, contemplating committing suicide. she was able to come and we were able to giveler the help she need. those are the things that let me know this program is need. >> reporter: mentors are taking it one step at a time committed

school students and middle school students are exposed to second hand smoke while riding cars. it's done by a survey. students talked about how often they ride in cars while smoke. the most common answer was one or two days. cars are more dangerous than smoke-filled bars. the health risks include ear infections, bronchitis and asthma attacks. parents should not allow smoking in their homes and cars and opening a window will not protect them. february is national children's dental health month. parents should get their little ones to a dentist soon right after that first teeth start showing. that includes checkups. replace sweets with fruits and

a linthicum spokesman facing several charges after police say he tried to outrun a state trooper hauling a bad bed trail are. mark kyle stole a stump grinder in finksburg. a trooper spotted it and decided to pull him over. he took off, leading the trooper on a high speed chase before the super sized load overturned. kyle is charged with burglary, theft and malicious theft of property. jury selection started in the former
