there. satellite and radar not picking up on a whole lot as of now. we do have some clouds out there, but we're not dealing with any type of precipitation. no type of rain, no type of snow. that is in the forecast. i'll get to that a little bit later. but we will have high pressure building in across the area. as we zoom off towards the south there, we do have some rain into the gulf of mexico, a little bit of a system back there into texas. this is not the one that's going to get its act together and move into our area as we go through time, but we definitely will have that. speaking of going into time, check out your temperatures, your hour-by-hour forecast for today, around lunchtime right around 49 degrees and 53 degrees with mostly sunny skies by 4:00 p.m. let's get a check of your traffic now with angela. good morning. lots of fog out there, a dense fog advisory until 6:00 p.m. >> that is right, lynette. we'll have a live shot of some of those foggy conditions out there, but other than that it's been a very busy morning. in the last few minutes we've got a couple new accidents to report, one on the west side of the beltway, inner loop past baltimore national pike. for those passing sedena

westbound route 100 at maryland 10, accident activity there with delays. but the big traffic story has been northbound 95 in hartford county. we're still closed between 543 and maryland 22. tractor-trailer accident and fire cleanup for that we're diverting traffic at 543. a live look at i-95. this is just south of the city, making your way to the southwest side of 695 and a live look at 50, making your way through annapolis this morning, a little bit dicey, very foggy conditions. so plan for a little extra travel time if you can this morning. megan and charley, back over to you. more details coming in the final days of pop diva whitney houston's life now coming to light as planning continues this morning for her funeral scheduled for saturday. >> right now you're looking at live pictures of her childhood church, the place where her singing career began. abc 2 news' sherree johnson is here with more. reporter: megan and charley, whitney houston's behavior the days before she died has become a focus of the investigation into her death. the singer was partying at the bar of her beverly hills hotel the night before her death. according to a source close to

this investigation, detectives have requested surveillance recordings. houston was also seen drinking considerable amounts of alcohol in the hotel last wednesday and thursday morning. one source says other guests expressed concern about her erraddic behavior. she was also seen drinking at the pool on the morning of the day she died. houston's cause of death is not expected to be revealed until toxicology tests are complete which could take a few more weeks. meanwhile, new jersey police are establishing a secure perimeter around her hometown church where her funeral will be held. marvin wienin will be delivering the eulogy. >> i know mama houston would do it the way she wanted it done which is we're going to church and we're not going to be worried about if the world can get in. >> kevin costner will speak at the service. stevie wonder, bb wineins, and aretha franklin are a few that have been tapped to sing at the funeral service. there will not be a traditional

funeral procession. it will be streamed on the internet. as a reminder, "20/20" air a special tonight "one moment in time: the life of whitney houston quiet. it's going to take an in-depth look at the pop star's achievements in music and acting and her battle with addiction. that's tonight at 11:00. you can see it here on abc 2. today local radio stations, magic 95.9 and 92q jams will be hosting a whitney houston karaoke event it will be on security boulevard. it's a chance for listeners of all ages to celebrate the life and music of whitney houston. the event, by the way, is free. a june 27th trial date has been set for a doctor charged in the death of a fetus. dr. nicole oreilly is charged under a state law allowing prosecutors it go after murder charges in the death of a viable fetus. her former partner dr. steven brigham has been charged in the death of five fetuses. police are boosting patrols around the campus of

frostburg state university. that's because there have been two student deaths in the past two years. tyrone holly of glenn burnie was shot in 2010. then in november courtney mccoy in baltimore was stabbed to death. so, again, more presence on campus for the police. making news around the nation this morning, the fbi calling it a case of a deadly workplace violence. a shooting at a federal building in long beach, california last night. authorities say an immigration agent repeatedly shot and injured a fellow agent. the shooter then killed himself and a third agent. take a look at this, an unusual street sign in suburban detroit. that's in michigan, megan. le drawing national attention, michigan being megan's home state. it lists six separate times drivers should slow down on school days. some drivers say the sign is meant to keep the school children safe while others say it's not well timed, it's also distracting. >> you have to take your eyes off the road quite a bit just

more couples, listen to this, they're using social media to adopt a child. melissa and seth adopted their son noah through facebook after no luck conceiving and private adoption left them at a standstill. seth posted their adoption flyer on facebook. a friend reposted it and then hooked them up with a friend that wanted to put her baby up for adoption. lawyers drew up the papers and in a matter of weeks their adoption was under way. so how would you like to get paid to tweet, post or pin? a new report ranks the charm city seventh in the country when it comes to snagging social media jobs. the cities topping that list include new york, san jose, san francisco and, of course, boston. keep in mind you do have to do a little more than twitter if you want to be really good to make some pretty good money. salaries for the most experienced social media pros in the top markets can be more than $100,000 annually. oprah may be returning to the big screen. she reportedly has been approached to appear in the director lee daniels' new movie

this grayish color. anne arundel county, you are in on that action. check out the temperature right now into annapolis, 38 degrees, the dewpoint at 38 degrees. when the temperature and the dewpoint are the same, the air becomes saturated so that is at have that fog out there. that's not the only place that has the fog. we do have some fog along the eastern shore this morning, so caroline county and talbot county, you do have a few delays for schools. as you head out and about this morning, do make sure you have on the low beams. the hour-by-hour will burn that fog off in the later morning hours. we will start to see some sunshine in here and it will become breezy. temperature right around 53 degrees. let's get a check of your traffic with angela. good morning. reporter: good morning, lynette. we are dealing with foggy conditions out there on the roadways. we got a couple of things to mention, first an accident on the west side of the beltway. this is at the bellthorn national pike on the inner loop. also for those traveling in pasadena, westbound 100 at maryland 10, lots of delays there with that accident. but the big traffic issue this

morning has been northbound 95 in hartford county. we're still closed between 543 and maryland 22, diverting traffic off of those northbound lanes. again, route 7 philadelphia road a good alternate as well as 40, pulaski highway. now here's a live look at baltimore national pike and 695. that crash has complicated the inner loop drive, again, that's baltimore national pike up to i- 70. folks traveling northbound are experiencing a lane closure in the right lane. here's 695 at wilkins avenue. still seeing a bit of that fog out there. again, plan for some reduced visibility out there on your friday morning drive. charley and megan, back to you. within the hour bge crews will head back outside going door to door to turn the gas back on for those living in southwest baltimore. so far they've only restored gas to about 1/3 of the customers who are out, about 300 of the 900 since that pipe broke on tuesday. the gas main is fixed but turning the gas back on can sometimes take a while. the same-sex marriage debate is is heating up in

annapolis this morning, so much so that one delegate has accepted police protection. last night we found out that one man has been threatened after he changed his vote. abc 2 news' sherree johnson is here wt latest. what happened? reporter: things are certainly getting out of hand, megan. we've been trying to reach police this morning to try to find out more information. we have learned that delegate wade catch has received a credible threat and has accepted police protection. the maryland republican agreed to support same-sex marriage. he says his vote could be contingent on a deal with advocates to amend the bill. katz said yesterday he would introduce a change to the bill to extend the effective date from october to january 2013. if his amendment fails, katz says he will probably not vote for the measure. a final vote is expected today. katz says his amendment would provide a better opportunity to bring the bill to referendum in november. maryland delegates say they are prepared to consider hand fulls of amendments to the bill design today legalize same-sex marriage. >> if i win or they win, we are

still divided. we have got to come together and compromise. >> maybe they're trying to do some more arm twisting and vote counting. i mean, the whole process i think is lifting -- well, it should leave a bad taste in voters' mouths. reporter: several delegates committed their support for the bill this week, but advocates have said they are still looking for a couple of votes to reach the needed 71 to pass the measure. sheree johnson, abc 2 news. former baltimore ravens wide receiver germaine lewis has been arrested once again, this the second time in six months he's been in trouble with the law. this picture was from his first arrest. lewis was pulled over yesterday morning on hanover pike because police saw his 4-year-old son in the front seat with no seat belt which, of course, as you know, is against the law. authorities say he's also being cited for driving on suspended and revoked driver's license. we're told lewis is being held on a $50,000 bond. court was canceled yesterday in the uva murder trial after one of the attorneys got sick in the case. no one is quite sure whether or

not george huguely will take the witness stand in his own defense. his voice has only been heard so far when prosecutors played his interview with police hours after his girlfriend yeardley love was found dead. with one attorney being sick, trial watchers are now wondering how this is going to affect the future of the case. >> i just hope it is laid out the way it needs to be laid out. justice needs to be served. >> defense attorneys do plan to bring huguely's father to self. george huguely, iv had been with his son at a golf outing most of the day may 2nd, 2010. prosecutors say it was later that day huguely kicked in the door of love's bedroom, attacking her and left her for dead. the trial is set to resume this morning. new for you this morning, this is a parent's worst possible nightmare, your child lost at day care. abc 2 new linda stow is here to tell us what happened when a group of -- what happened with a group of toddlers in d.c. linda, how could this happen? reporter: charley, this is

when what we know so far, the children were at a field trip at the verizon center to see disney on ice. they got separated from the group when a day care worker took six kids to the bathroom. as they come out, we're told the kids got lost in a crowd of people leaving the show. five kids were taken to the guest services office, but one girl about 2 or 3 years old ended up alone on s veet in front of the metro stop in front of the verizon center. two women who were walking back to work from lunch saw the little girl and got a police officer. >> i have a child in day care, and i'm wondering now is it safe to send them out on a field trip. >> now, the toddlers were with kids bridge day care center in camp springs, maryland. the director there says this should not have happened. they had enough staff on that field trip and all the children got back to the center safely. linda stow, abc 2 news. we have a consumer alert for you this morning, two recalls to tell you about today. first the children's slide known as the slol a.m. glider usually found on playgrounds now being recalled.

officials say 16 children have been injured after falling off of slides. the picture on your screen of what it look like. the slide lacks a transition platform. they were sold nationwide to schools and other facilities between january 2006 and december 2011. and about 31,000 tumblekin toys are also being recalled this morning. distributors say the toys can break into small pieces with sharp points, posing a choking hazard and possibly could bring lacerations to your children. this recall involves all tumblekin's toys, the vehicles and the play sets. the toys are wooden and paintd bright colors. they were sold in stores nationwide and on various websites from march 2011 through december 2011. governments doing something might think might overdo it, recommending new guidelines that would affect electronic devices being installed in your car when they're being manufactured. that recommendation includes any kind of device that acquires visual or manual operation by drivers. it could mean drivers will not be allowed to text or dial numbers while the car is

moving. other guidelines include reducing the complexity of electronic devices. these guidelines would affect visual, manual text messages, internet and social media browsing, phone dialing and navigational displays. it could also provide too much information while trying to operate a car. five things you need to know on this friday morning as we're heading out the door. the jersey flags will fly at half staff tomorrow honoring the legacy of whitney houston. you're looking live now at a picture outside of the church where houston's funeral will be held tomorrow. this is a live picture. so as they move around, understand we're getting what they're getting as well. lawmakers sign off on a final deal on a bill extending payroll tax cuts and unemployment benefits just as congress takes its break next week. the president says he'll sign the bill immediately once it is on his desk. president obama will be outlining new steps to boost exports while touring a boeing plant in washington state today. congress wants to continue finances a national export credit agency which he says is

crucial, his goal of doubling exports by 2014. the panel determine curry failed to disclose more than $245,000 which he was paid by a grocery store chain. where you can find those girl scout cookies this year, now there is an app for that. the free girl scout cookie app locater is available today. it displays a gps locater to the nearest cookie booth location, available for the iphone and android. so they're getting everyone. lynette. >> that's an asset i need. i would definitely invest in that app for sure. satellite and radar, we are looking at some clouds out there in the atmosphere, but also at the ground. we do have fog and that's basically what fog is is just a big cloud at the ground. that will start to burn off as we go through sunrise, and then we'll start to have high pressure building in across the area. you can see it here on the weather pattern. it makes its way in. we'll have those winds to the

northwest that's going to help to stir up the atmosphere and break up some of that fog as well. but the fact is that we have a big storm that's brewing. future trend is going to pick up on that in just a second, but for today we definitely will be dealing with plenty of sunshine in the forecast. get out and enjoy it because you'll have today, you'll have tomorrow and then things will start to go downhill tomorrow as we see this storm down south here. it will start to brew and get its act together around louisiana and also mississippi. you can see it sliding off towards the east here around the carolinas and then it will make that turn up the coast and we do have that potential for a nor'easter moving in here as we go late saturday night into sunday. so rain, snow definitely possible. right now still worried about the track of the storm and also the cold air that will mix in on the back side of it. so no accumulation totals as of yet, but i do believe we will have some. 53 degrees for today. it will turn a little bit on the breezy side. we'll get the sun, we'll get the clouds as well. 30 degrees, clear and cold by tonight. and then tomorrow 52 degrees, the clouds will be on the

increase. temperatures still above average. we should be at 45 now degrees for this time of the year. but here we go on sunday, that nor'easter is possible, much colder and then by president's day, plenty of sunshine in the forecast and warmer next week. let's get a check of your traffic now with angela. good morning. >> good morning to you, lynette. good morning, everyone. heading out in the next few minutes you will have fog to contend with, especially through annapolis. we'll get to a live shot in just a moment. but, again, just another update, northbound 95 remains closed at maryland 543 with that overnight tractor-trailer accident. state police say they hope to have it out of there soon, but in the meantime you can take pulaski highway. here's a look at some of the foggy conditions you'll have to contend with out there this morning as we deal with accident activity on the west side of the beltway. but if you're traveling in annapolis, this is u.s. 50 where things are pretty slow for drivers making their way across the chesapeake bay bridge. also want to mention that accident on the beltway. this is on the inner loop west side, so as you pass baltimore national pike, you will run into delays heading up to i-70.
