-- 65-year-old man inside a home. who robbed a woman inside a parking lot and why police need your help and some simple things you can do. his daughter said he called me kid all the time. she told him i'm not a kid anymore. tonight she wishes they could go back in town. in towson an elderly man faces off with a burglar, a burglar hop doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger. it was an early morning shooting on sunday here on allegany avenue. >> reporter: neighbors had good reason to be on guard. >> two burglaries -- burglars, very apparent. breaks in and ransacks them, two blocks from our house and we're all very concerned. are we going to be next. >> reporter: but the burglary

was different. the suspect entered through a second floor window. he was armed with a revolver and he was willing to use it. >> the homeowner tells us that he claim home late and found a burglar inside the house. that burglar forced him at gun point and shot him as he deincidented the stairs. -- descended the stairs. >> reporter: even though the bullet entered the back of the man's neck and exited through his face, he was still able to dial 911. a few hours later officers spotted bradford steven holup, dressed in camouflage as he jumped in a car a few blocks away and they arrested him. police can't slay if holup is responsible for any of the other burglaries. neighbors are beefing up security, unwilling to take any chances. >> it was disturbing to say the

least. i have a 21-year-old and 23-year-old who are out that time of the night and come home. we also live right around the corner. >> reporter: in towson, jeff hager, abc2 news. >> police found one of the victim's credit cards in holup's pockets. he is being held on attempted murder and burglary. anne arundel police said one man tried to run over security and police at the anne arundel -- -- arundel mills mall. he police officers tried to stop him. collins didn't hit anyone or anything. he was eventually stopped and arrested in severn. police are still searching for a suspect who rob lad woman in the parking lot of a glen

burnie walmart. abc2 news kelly swoope tells us she was about to get into her char when she felt something in her back. it was friday night. the woman was at a walmart in glen burnie when she was approached by a man who robbed her. she was in her collar when the man -- car when the man placed something in her back and took the purse. he disappeared into a wooded area. >> it was a little bit different as far as the identification. he only had one black glove on. >> police surrounded the area and used k9 units to search for the suspect. so far he has not been found. police are asking anyone with information to call metro crime stoppers at 1-866-7-lockup. abc2 is always working for you trying to keep your family safe.

beaten and assaulted. police say the two are not related. the controversy is brewing over raising the bottle tax in the city and will come to a head with the mayor presenting her plan mayor stephanie rawlings-blake wants to raise the tax from two cents to five cents to help build better schools. the new tax is estimated to generate $10 million a year and is one part of the equation. the city hopes to get $300 million in bonds to pay for the plan. >> you're looking live at our bay bridge from the eastern shore. we have two rough days to get this great one. it's all worth this. meteorologist wyatt everhart has a pretty good start to the last week of february. only in reference to this winter would we say sunny and upper 40s was a rough weekend to get through. that's how we finished up. this is not bad. sunshine. we warmed up significantly today

nation we know him as the big man on campus. he taught gym and, man, did he make an impact. abc2's roosevelt leftwich has more. >> reporter: major robert marchanti was known as a man who loved children. he would donate his time to help kids in need. he taught at several schools including dundalk, marsen state and carney elementary. teachers say he was only here for five months before he got called up. he made a huge impact. he taught gym but would also go from classroom to classroom when he had downtime to help. >> you could give him the littlest one in the building or the oldest one. no matter who he had, he did homework with these kids. some kids he didn't goat the support they needed and never

came in. he would do that. he helped out kindergarten all the way to fifth grade and did a phenomenal job. >> reporter: teachers say he was so well liked by the students at carney that on the last day before he was scheduled to ship out, they stood up and saluted him, something that almost brought the big name to tears. >> they ought to rename carney elementary in his honor. today most of baltimore's delegation met with the mayor. congressman sar bines met to identify funding. to take on domestic violence. >> to make sure that baltimore gets the resources that this needs. we'll make sure there's money in

conscious today. they're looking at greener products. >> reporter: that's one reason why water testing might apple to some. it claims to show up problems in the h2o in your house. it's being offered with little hassle thanks to water testing kits that show up at crore door but the better business bureau said be careful. >> this is a scam. >> reporter: these tests are off the an means to an end. you give these door-to-door company as sample and they take an opportunity to sell you something. >> most often, all they're trying to do is sell you a water purification system. >> reporter: the better business bureau says that's not always how you're proached. for some companies the pitch may not mention sales at all. why some are not testing on behalf of the municipality, not everyone is clear. there's no way to verify if the

winchester, baltimore. 52, cooler at the beach but still not bad. for the last days of february when two winters ago we had a lot of snow. winds are light and from the west, southwest, eastern shore more of a west wind. that is the early indication of our front coming through that will shift the winds and begin to bring in colder northwesterly breeze ease overnight into the day tomorrow. you see the high temperatures 66. this was a nice mild day running some 15 degrees above average. tomorrow a reality check as we see low 50s from reisterstown to arbutus struggling in the 50s, points north of baltimore, maybe never out of the upper 40s, low 50s toward the southern end toward edge water. our satellite radar pictures are clear tonight. they will clear to start the day tomorrow. this front comes through dry but it will drop the temperatures
