continues to come down in western maryland. we are tracking a huge cluster through garret and into hagerstown. we have another significant round of rain that will keep it on the wet side before finally we do start to clear up overnight and into the day tomorrow. take a look at the pattern. you can see nice clearing in to ohio. it is on the way. we will dry out and clear out tomorrow but in the meantime dealing showers and storms and concerns in western maryland if you are traveling to hugey stown -- flash flood problems and severe warnings up for parts of eastern tennessee and the south. this evening 40s, scattered showers, still a few storms to the west and tomorrow the big change in to the 60's we go. we will talk about how it unfolds in to the weekend straight ahead. >> a suspect has been arrested after shooting a deputy. it happened in cambridge when

the deputies tried to serve a warrant. the suspect shot the deputy and jumped on to the window. an 82-year-old man is recovering in a hospital after being shot by a home invasion. the man was in his bedroom when he heard a noise in the kitchen. he grabbed his gun and went to investigate. the victim confronted the intruder and the two wrestled and during the struggle the suspect got the man's gun, shot him and then left. anyone with information. asked to call police. . a man has been charged with

murder after police say he beat his 5-year-old daughter to death. what caused the beating will surprise you. roosevelt. >> reporter: the call came in late monday night. a 5-year-old unresponsive in the bathtub. when authorities arrived they it -- got her to the hospital they found something terrible had happened. police have charged this man, it 2-year-old matthew carr with first murder, childa bourque assault and endangerment. police say it happened in this house on calloway avenue and northwest baltimore. police say they got a call from the home saying she was in the tub and wasn't breathing. firefighters took her to the hospital but doctors say she was severely beaten. police focused on the father. >> i can't get in -- into why but i can tell you -- he felt the need to discipline her because as he stated she had a

bowel movement in her clothes. obviously he went overboard and has to face the system now. >> carr was arraigned this morning and is being held without bond. the detective said the mother was not in the home at the time of the death. abc 2news. >> thank you, police in hartford on the look out for a man who exposed himself to a pair of young girl ons a playground. it happened along todd road in belaire. two 13-year-old's saw the man exposing himself in small trees bordering a playground. they ran home and told her parents and they called police. the man was gone by the time police arrived. the police officer had this advice to parents parents and children confronted by that situation. >> don't approach and don't chase the individual. take a cell, call the police and let them know where are you seeing this. if you can keep a distance and keep an eye on them, try to do

that, if the individual flees give the deputies an idea of the direction so we can locate them. >> just two days before the playground incident children spotted a man exposing himself in bushes along a nearby road. this point police can't rule out it was the same suspect. concontroversy around a councilwoman. a week ago police tried pulling her over on the capitol beltway. instead they chased her for miles with a cruiser reaching 105 miles an hour. she was surrounded by police when she finally pulled over. she repeatedly cited her status but was only given a 90-dollar ticket and a warning for going 105 in a 55-mile an hour zone. >> you want somebody to vote for you have to show, have you

to represent yourself. for them to let her go it was me i would be in jail. >> me too. police say an officer is able to give a warning when handling speeding people. she said he was late for an aa pointment and regrets the incident. tomorrow the governor will sign the same sex marriage bill into law. he will sign the bill, that just passed both houses. the law will then go into effect next january. however, there are efforts to make the bill a vote on the november ballot. opponent also have to gather up 56,000 signatures by the end of june to make it happen. a state senate committee held hearings today to talk about budget balancing issues. the budget and tax committee is reviewing a bill that helps balance the budget by transferring money, increasing taxes and fees and eliminating tax credits and exemptions,

don't expect any severe weather this evening for our state but we have seen lightning strikes up here in the far western part of the state. we continue to track those lightning strike was the radar, i think could we hear the thunder later here in its possible. we are getting some early rain out of this last section the storm if you will. this last boundary and we are getting a good rain here in belaire and perry man. yeah it's not just western maryland. there are other scattered downpours, just realize the rest of the evening, through, ten or 11. we could see some precipitation. take a look out at pwi. it's -- out downtown reaping. rñ,r 50 degrees. not frigid as we have been these last hour, a mild february 2012. our weather cameras across the state showing the camera lenses covered water, belaire, annapolis similar story here.

look at this, clouds over the camera on the severn and -- in frederick they had the rain on and off and then the rain coming down in earnest as we get into the last 30 minutes here. that's the leading edge of that more significant rain headed toward central maryland. right now 50 baltimore. 41 in hagerstonn and winds light and from the south. there is some slightly warmer air, right along the southern edge. possible, there could be a thunderstorm or two later this evening, especially south annapolis, again not looking for anything severe. temperatures in the mid50s. in the mid to upper 60s tomorrow. sun that will replace all the active weather tonight. still more rain to come next several hours and then clearing, you see it back across indiana, western kentucky. the troy air will press in and still run mild this boundary that will push the rain out doesn't bring in a lot of cold air, we think we will rebound

nicely temperature wise throughout the day, we get the rain out as we push toward the overnight and 45 degrees, scattered source ending but then the end of the day tomorrow here is that turn around, 65, sun, more mild and then it tomorrow night, down to 36, as we see the wind shift againt. gets cooler and temperatures will bounce around here as we check out the first seven days of march. how is that? temperatures in to the upper 50s on friday, then back this to the low 60s saturday with a chance for showers and then dry sunday but cooler back in the 50s, 40s on monday. >> definitely could have been worse around here. severe weather rolling through the country, hartland. one of the hardest hitters harrisburg illinois where six people were killed when a ef4 tornado went through the town. that is the second strongest measurement for a tornado. neighborhoods were flattened, homes destroyed, even shopping
