jail. rare med -- paramedics rushed three people to the hospital after a chemical spill that forced a catholic school toll evacuate. it happened at st. margaret in bel air. >> reporter: shortly after the ask bell sound, sirens of a different kind filled the air at st. margaret school. the small red bag of hazardous materials may contain the source of the fumes that forced students to evacuate. >> everyone did get out of the building. the children were in no way, shape or form in danger. they were evacuated to our elementary building. the teachers left the building as well. >> reporter: a cross contamination of cleaning chemicals filled the building before the students emptied out.

>> the fire department transported four adults. we had three adults who refused medical treatment. >> members of the harford county hazmat team entered with monitors but found little evidence after workers had ventilated the classrooms. if nothing else the bel air fire department's spokesperson said it serves as a reminder when mixing household chemicals. >> people don't realize. it the innocuous chemicals can cause a problem. read the labels and check to see what you can use them for. >> reporter: in bel air, jeff hager. >> now school administrators say the facility workers were checking the building for traces of the odor before they determined there will be classes tomorrow. six people and their pets are homeless after a two-alarm

fire that happened early this morning in the 1000 block of cutler harbor. the red cross is helping but the good news is no one was hurt. the cause of the fire still under investigation. an annapolis man was under arrest for driving around showing fake genitalia to women. the man was -- was seen driving around the campus. they thought he was exposing himself. after vasting, they determined that jacob bovia was that man. police say he had faked genitalia in his car. detectives interviewed him. they figured out he was showing it to the women. he was charged with indecent exposure including disorderly conduct. police are looking for a man

who was caught spying on a woman in a panera bathroom. officers talked to the woman. she said she was in the bath rm at work -- bathroom at work when a man put his hand under the stall holding a camera. police are asking for the public's help. anyone who think they may have seen the man is asked to call metro crime stoppers at 1-866-7-lockup. rumors that a possible fight prompted anne arundel police to put extra patrols in place at chesapeake height today. officers were arrive -- were there for the arrival and dismissal. montgomery county humane society has more than two dozen chinchillas up for adoption. they are both male and female the staff said they are young and in good health. anyone interested in adopting a

a fight broke out at the courtroom after family members of the victims allegedly went after the suspect. officers broke up the fight. the good news is no one was seriously hurt. the hearing for the murder suspect went on later as ?roond fasten your -- fasten your safety belts. it was a wild ride in columbus. drivers were taken by surprise when they came across black ice. look closely. you can see one man dodge out of the way of a truck headed at him. people were left shaken up, but fortunately, no one was hurt. scary moments for a snowmobiler in utah after an avalanche buried him under 10 feet of snow. tyson black was skiing. when he neared the top of the avalanche it began following him. he almost always wears a helmet

voters are deciding who they want to face off with president obama. tory dunnan has more. >> reporter: things are goingwell. as you can see, it's super tuesday. let's start with mitt romney because expectations are the highest for him. he hopes to be the inevitable nominee. he wants big victories to help him seal the deal. then there's rick santorum. he's trying to stay in the top tier of candidates. you have to remember, when you talk about rick santorum, he's lost the past five contests to mitt romney. then newt gingrich hasn't had a big victory since that big south carolina win. he is expected to do well in his home state of georgia but the

question remains, can he win in any other state. finally, there's ron paul with a passion nal following but it hasn't been enough for him. he needs something positive to happen. one thing is certain. the candidates are realizing mitt romney is the front-runner and they're not holding back anymore. take a listen. >> a flip-flopper who has been on all sides, supported tarp bailouts and provided the blueprint for obamacare. >> he would be the weakest candidate on the most important issue of the day. >> he can't close the deal. he can't close the deal in part because people inherently don't trust what he's saying. >> reporter: you start talking about the expectations, mitt romney saying he doesn't know what will happen. rick santorum's campaign said they feel like they would have a win even if they got close to

mitt romney here in ohio. so we'll see what happens. >> there's a reason they call it super tuesday. what's at stake and which states should we be focusing on. >> reporter: there's 419 delegates up for grabs. that's 3% of the number -- 37% of the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination. there are 10 states voting -- including oklahoma, vermont and virginia, but the big three are ohio, tennessee and georgia. they are supposed to be competitive and will offer up the biggest prizes. >> all right. we'll have the latest results at 11. turn it over to jamie costello. coming up all new at 6:00, we have disturbing new developments in the murder of this 13-year-old baltimore girl. two children are arrested.

jones down 300, nays down -- nasdaq down 40. we got a warning about con artists trying to steal your money. this tax season the irs said scammers are willing to go to church to carry out some of those scams. they're targeting elderly asking them to claim fraudulent tax returns. tragedies can bring out the best in us and the worst in some. scammers are targeting victims of the northwest tornadoes. karin caifa explains. >> reporter: the pictures and the stories from the aftermath of the midwest tornadoes have a lot of people wondering how can i help. >> the people lost their homes.

we have a business but they lost everything -- their home and the whole nine yards. that's bad. that's very, very bad. >> reporter: even with tragedies like this one, there are usually scammers who want to take something, even from those who lost everything. the better business bureau warns those in the affected areas to be aware of storm chasers, shady out of town contractors who may offer quick fixes to a home or business and skip town before they deliver. they advise checking that a contractor is licensed and registered by a local agency. pay by credit card credit card if possible. that may give more protection. for those who want to donate money to victims, research a charity through a third party site. reputable charities rarely solicit. so be aware of emails with
