if you like the warming up part of it, that's going to happen. also, we have a chance for some rain that we'll get closer to as we head to the end of the week. then we spring forward this weekend, don't forget that or you will be disoriented come sunday. maryland's most powerful doppler radar dry now. we have all five sweeps on scanning the skies, not a lot to scan for today because of ample sunshine in the forecast. this morning temperatures not so bad. 40 degrees in centreville. we'll talk about the warm-up but now let's check the traffic with angela. is it quiet out there? >> pretty quiet around the city but we have a trouble spot on the eastern shore. a closure due to an overnight accident that is still in effect. maryland 213 is shut down between 50 and star road with the overnight collision. we'll keep you posted as to when it will open but in the meantime try a good alternate. 95, business as usual, tunnels

looking good even with the two-way overnight maintenance in effect. i-95 for those of you traveling through rosedale and whitemarsh, no troubles to report in either direction. maryland state police say a eldersburg driver ran a red light in sykesville, killed in a crash. it happened just before midnight at 26 and 32. >> police say she died at the scene. she was t-boned by two other drivers that had a green light. the crash injured both drivers, one is in the hospital but should be ok. to a developing story -- sit place cited family members of a severna park teen with providing her alcohol before she and her two friends died in a crash. >> it happened in january along route 50. linda so has the latest. >> reporter: we've learned the mother and brother of the 18-year-old who died in that crash have been served with civil citations. according to the state's attorney's office in anne arundel county, debbie and joshua franco are accused of

serving alcohol to minors in their home on january 27th. later that night brianna franco and two friends got in a car and drove the wrong way on 97 and 50. their chrysler sebring crashed into a bmw killing the driver and three teens. the civil citations carry up to a $120 fine, no jail time. something that doesn't go far enough. >> if indeed there was alcohol that was furnished at a party in which teens died i think a civil citation is ridiculous. >> one in the franco home would talk. the state's attorney's office says there's no law in place that has tougher penalties like jail time for adults that serve alcohol to minors. calvert county officials investigating after a strange respiratory illness killed three members of the same family. it started with a woman experiencing a cough and fever. she died after seven days. her three adult children who came to care for her while she was sick got sick themselves

shortly after. two of them have since died. health officials say it could be flu-like complications from a bacterial infection. phone calls went out to parents of school-age children yesterday. >> it's like the plague it scares me. if i go home tonight and my kids get a sniffle or cough i'm going to be worried. >> the health department says this is one of the only cases they know of in the case. a former baltimore county police officer suspended after the shooting death of a 13-year-old girl. the department says the suspension was due to what they say the officer did after monet turnage was found dead. the family says the officer was dating the older sister of one of the suspects and they believe the officer gave the boys advice as she was shot. her body later discovered in a trash bag in an alley in northeast baltimore. police are investigating the fame's claims. -- the family's claims.

two doctors were charged with murder stemming from abortions conducted in maryland. on tuesday the cecil county state's attorney says the investigation shows the fetuses actually died in new jersey and while charges have been dismissed they say they will continue the investigation. no word on whether st. margaret's school will be opened today. fumes were found yesterday. a hazmat team determined workers may have mixed otherwise harmless chemicals while cleaning. no students got sick but paramedics did take three adults to upper chesapeake medical center for treatment. they say they inhaled the fumes. fire officials say it's important to read the labels on household cleaners before mixing them. new this morning the white house made an announcement, they are moving the site of the upcoming g-8 summit from chicago to camp david in

maryland. the white house gave no immediate reason for the change and it will be 18th and 19th. the president still plans to host the nato summit in chicago a day after the g-8 summit in maryland. mitt romney now captured alaska. >> that is after he declared the winner of ohio. that happened 12:30 this morning. >> romney cast six of the 10 states super tuesday. eric -- rick santorum won three other states. >> exit polls show more than half of republican voters say romney is the candidate with the best chance to beat president obama. in annapolis today people will gather on lawmakers' mall in front of the state house to rally for tobacco tax increases. that rally will begin at noon. the bill will be heard in the general assembly today. the tax would raise money for public health programs. >> the ways and means committee will hear a noncitizens voting

bill today. it would prohibit noncitizens from voting anywhere in the state of maryland. right now seven towns do permit cizen voting. the death penalty bill will be discussed at 1:00 today. that would repeal the death penalty. >> a block grant will be discussed in front of the taxation committee today. officials in baltimore city are cracking down on business that sell children's jewelry. >> what they found that one business had that is facing violations. what you need to know. >> and a twister, mass clean-up now underway across the midwest as the winter and snow moved out. one of your favorite shots. >> it is, the statistically significant in new york -- the statue of liberty in new york city. ñ[=

4:39. airport employees spent the evening doing a little winter-friendly job, de-icing planes. obviously not here, shanghai. heavy fog and snow forced planes to land and delayed many planes. the employees de-icing planes by removing snow much of the night to ensure safety operations were all in tact. new video of tornadoes across the northwest up close and personal. this from late friday night in indiana. officials say 42 in all hit 10 states killing a total of 40 people. now the forecast and lynette. what is going on? >> not a lot but we're going to see images like that for a while. the good news is, as we look across the middle of the nation, indiana looks nice, we had a few clouds trying to stream in here as well as kentucky. this is courtesy of a warm front. so we have a new system that is going to try to get in here not

today but maybe as we head into your friday. a cold front passing through but no type of cold weather for today. this morning, not so bad, temperatures are above average, not as cold as yesterday. remember, we were in the 20s. we zoom in across the satellite and radar to our area and looking good. we have clear skies, that will translate into lots of sunshine, as we go more into the afternoon. also once that sun starts to rise. right now though, talking about the temperatures, telling you they were not as bad as yesterday. well, they are not. check out annapolis with the temperature coming in around 39 degrees. more of the same in sparrows point. as we head to the eastern shore we're seeing a 40 in chestertown now, centreville in the upper 30s. darlington around 37 degrees. so take the heavy coat with you this morning. as you go into the afternoon you won't need it. i'm going to talk about how warm we're actually going to get. stick around for that. now the traffic with angela. good morning. >> good morning. as we get ready to head out for that morning commute not a bad start, especially for those of

you trying to use i-95. had a look at traffic flow there. very nice start, actually relatively quiet, especially through howard county. if you're taking the drive southbound towards the capitol beltway. once you leave the tunnel, this is what you'll find. 95 just north of the beltway, traveling through arbutus. again, we mentioned very light volume, no distractions on the way. in the meantime, here's a look at u.s. 50 and kent narrows, looking pretty good here. if you're traveling near 50 on 213, got that closure with accident clean-up at 50 between star and 213. back to you. baltimore city department of public works will pull out a device from a water pipe this morning that may prevent a major watermain break. this is called the pipe diver. it will travel through larger pipes under the city and surrounding counties. it started last night in southwest baltimore, uses an electromagnetic field to detect weaknesses in the pipes without shutting off the water service. it also helps workers find

tj lane was told about the charges he faces yesterday. he was also told he could be tried as an adult. three students were killed in the shooting. >> a computer analyst at rutgers university was the first to testify in the trial of a former student. dharun ravi was accused of using a web cam to spy on his roommate's encounter with another man and then broadcast it. ravi faces criminal counts. a new version of the i-pad to be unveiled in san francisco today. it's said to be lighter in weight, sharper screen and faster broadband capability. there's been a lot of attention put on bullying prevention, lady gaga has helped join the fight against it. >> at randall high school in gambrills, the school is bringing in daniel joseph baker, from "america's got talent" to speak about bullying. he's an advocate to prevent bullying. the group is having four

assemblies during the first four periods of school and it's today. the driver's licenses could soon have a military designation on the cards. it indicates whether a person is a veteran or active duty military. it's a way to honor them and it could alert authorities of a possible ptsd condition. >> it could help in many ways. to get certain types of benefits. >> on occasions when you need to establish you're a veteran to get a certain discount. >> 14 states already offer the military designation, they have large military populations. baltimore city health officials are warning about lead found in children's jewelry. authorities issued violations to a mart on highland avenue

after high lead levels were found in their stores. the products were sold for $1, however, health leaders say the cost to treat lead in children is much more. access lead levels in children can severely impair development, and in some cases even lead to death. a new study says the amount of work women do to keep the family intact can result in stress, fatigue, weight gain, especially belly fat. doctors say it's a disorder that could be deadly. doctors can do a simple test to check levels. they recommend enough sleep, exercise and things like yoga or reading can help ease the stress. happy wife, happy life? turns out there's evidence to back it up. a new study finds guys are happiest when their spouse or

baltimore and boston yesterday, 5-4 in florida. the story of the day was bundy, fourth overall pick in 2011, scoreless fifth inning giving up just one walk. april 6th, os play host to the minnesota twins. a man says police ended up at his front door. after a hacker stole personal information from his x box live. that hacker sent messages to 911 claiming a 4-year-old girl had been killed in his home. >> actually the state police, my mom first answered the door and she had a gun pointed at him, in her face from a cop, i ran up the stairs and yelled mom. the state trooper had the gun pointed in my face next. after that about a minute after, there was at least 15 state cops at my house.

>> this is the third time police have gotten false reports for the same home. connecticut, people are trying to figure out who sent an envelope with wide powder to a school. it was initially thought to be isolated but later this was found in other states. so far the initial testing says the substance is harmless. a teenaged girl accused of carjacking and kidnapping a woman ended up smarting them out. the duo robbed the college student at gunpoint and drove her around for a couple of hours of the forced her to withdraw money from the atm and buy liquor. once in the party store that girl faked seizure. that scared the teens off. the woman was later able to identify the suspects. one utah elementary school is home to 15 sets of twins. there's at least one set of twins for each grade level. some have the same teacher and

frederick and 39 degrees in hagerstown. i'm suggesting as you head out still take that coat. as we go into the afternoon you might need a light jacket. due to the fact that we do have the wind. now, into baltimore, not seeing much, more on the eastern shore, they will start to pick up as we go throughout the day. that southwesterly flow is going to make it feel a little chillier today even though it's a warming flow which will boost the temperatures. so with that have a light coat as you go into the afternoon. meanwhile, the satellite and radar not picking up on a lot. we're under clear skies and we will get lots of sunshine in here once again for today. it's going to be a nice day if you like the warmer weather and if you like plenty of sunshine, don't forget the sun shades. this is the weather pattern as of now, we have that system up there towards the west and we have that warm air from that warm front spreading in across the area. there's the high pressure. remember yesterday, we said this would slide east. it's doing so. with that you get that return flow around that. that is a warm flow. that is why the winds will be

out of the southwest as we head through the remainder of today. future trend not picking up on a lot. i put this in motion. we will stay mainly clear as we go throughout the day but we will start to have another system approaching from the west. that will be a cold front that is going to be moving into the area as we go into your friday. it gets closer as we go into thursday but i think most of the rain will come for your commute on friday morning. so it is going to be a little dicey but i will be here, i will walk you through it. we'll get through it hand in hand and then things start to improve as we go into the weekend. temperatures will drop a bit but still above average. today's temperatures, 63 degrees, a nice one. then by tonight temperature coming in around 42 degrees. a few clouds, not as cold. here's the forecast for tomorrow as that cold front works through. the temperature will only be around 58 degrees but like i said, it will be above average. here's a check of the 7-day forecast, because as we go into saturday and sunday, 51, 57, don't forget to spring forward. that means you lose an hour of

sleep. let's get a check of the traffic with angela. how are the roads? >> we're still following the accident and still closure on the eastern shore. 213 remains shut down between 50 and star road. of course we are monitoring that situation not a lot of traffic flow so far, so that is the good news with that. in the meantime, things around 695 moving pretty well as you start the drive this wednesday morning. here's a live look at the southwest side, wilkens avenue through catonsville, starting to build already. of course people making their way to i-95 on the southwest side. north side of 695 at greenspring avenue, clear and free as well as the top side at harford road. no reported troubles. again, the outer loop there is where you see the building volume. back to you. more violence in syria as another 39 people reportedly been killed. >> who is to blame for the bombing of a bridge in homs and why this bridge was so
