through the rosedale whitemarsh region, southbound lanes picking up toward the top side. new information in the case involving a calvert county family where several members died after coming down with a strange illness. linda so is here with the latest development in this story. >> reporter: we learned two of the family members had the flu. it may have been complicated by a bacterial infection. we're waiting to get results on the other family member who died. it started with an elderly woman who got sick about two weeks ago. her three adult children came to care for her at her calvert county home. they developed similar flu-like symptoms. the mother, son and daughter died. the other daughter was hospitalized and is being treated. the calvert county health department is reminding people that the flu season is not over so it's important to take the proper precautions. phone calls went out yesterday to parents of school-aged children. >> does anybody know what is going on? it's like the plague. it scares me. if i go home tonight and my kids get a sniffle or cough i'm going to be panicked.

>> reporter: as of 11:30 last night we've learned there have been no other new cases reported. the health department says this one family is the only case they know of anywhere in the state. linda so, abc2 news. a hearing will be held today permitting noncitizens to vote and hold office. pat mcdonogh is trying to pass legislation to prevent noncitizens from holding office anywhere in the state. the colts will cut the mvp today, the move will keep the team from having to pay peyton manning $20 million and signing on for four more years. he still wants to play football. miami, new york, jets, even the redskins expressed interest in the super bowl winner. in 14 years he took the colts to the playoffs 11 times, won two afc titles and one super bowl. however, missed the entire season in 2011 due to multiple

salem. this dash cam video of sergeant andrew carr captured two and-a-half minutes of serious attempts at a car speeding down the road, crashed and falling power lines sparking the blaze. he and a colleague sprang in to action saving that man trapped inside. >> he was basically passed out, knocked out unconscious when i got to him. >> you see the movies, cars crash and burst into flames, statistically speaking, it's not the norm. it's very rare. >> the rescue wasn't easy, the officers had to climb through the passenger side to get the man out and saved his life. the officers say they are not heroes, they were just doing their job. on this day in 1965 in march, the civil rights march by demonstrators, broken up in selma, alabama by state troopers and the sheriff's posse. known as bloody sunday. unarmed civil rights marchers were attacked. marchers are re-creating that walk this week in alabama.

rally in support of a bill in baltimore city. that bill will be heard in front of the senate budget and taxation committee. the campaign to transform baltimore and education coalition will testify in support of the measure. if passed city schools could be borrowing large amounts of money for the renovation and conprograms. arundel high school in gam bril today -- gambrills today will be holding anselmably -- an assembly about bullying. josh baker is a huge advocate on preventing it and he will be talking there. there's going to be four assemblies during the first four periods of school. more on this event coming up in the 6:00 hour. baltimore city health officials are warning about lead found in children's jewelry. clever mart on highland avenue has been cited as tests showed high levels of lead in the jewelry shown in their store.

testing has been ordered on jewelry products bought from three stores. this mickey mouse ring had high levels of lead. this band also, take it from your child if you have this. this shows high levels of lead that can severely impair development, even cause death in kids. women in at least seven states including here in maryland may be unwittingly slapped in prisons by using mercury tainted cosmetics. mercury poisoning can cause illness, even death in some cases. while the amounts of mercury in cosmetics is typically pretty low, mercury actually acutelates in the body -- accumulates in the body. go to the fda web site for information. a warning has been issued

weather. we will be seeing plenty of sunshine as we go throughout the day. where we have clear skies across the area, as of now. that will hold true even as we go into the afternoon. temperatures are a little on the cool side this morning. i'm going to say chilly, we're still above average. we should be 30 degrees for this time of year and baltimore coming in around 34 degrees. easton 37. york, pennsylvania, around 37 degrees as well. and dc right around 41. so, with temperatures starting above average, we're going to get sunshine in here, the winds out of the south and west. we'll have that warming up. we can see the winds already into dc, 16 mile-an-hour out of the south, 8 in easton. and our winds will be picking up even more as we go throughout the day. we'll definitely boost the winds up to 5 to 15 miles an hour with gusts up to about 20 miles an hour. here's that weather pattern for you, high pressure is sliding to the east. allowing for that southwesterly
