and painful at the pumps. $4.23 for gas. this is the highiest its been. thousand these prices are playing in the political season. evan spencer explains how. >> reporter: gas prices are inching closer to the $4 mark. drivers in california, hawaii and new york are feeling the pain at the pump. prices average more than $4 a gallon. it doesn't appear any relief is in sight. >> there isn't a quick fix when it comes to gas prices. >> reporter: he took a jab at newt gingrich on the issue. >> any career politician that promises a three point plan for $2 gas is not looking for a solution. they are looking for a vote. >> this president doesn't understand the economy. he is an economic right wing. he's made decisions that hurt

central and eastern maryland. western maryland with clouds. temperatures comfortable by late march standards. it is hard to believe we are in the winter season until tuesday. dry and mild in the 60s. we'll talk about how things change in the week. we have new information about a former tsa agent from baltimore county charged with having child pornography. michael scott hall was arrested back in october. those charges have been dropped. we are here now to explain why. >> reporter: wilson's case may have been dropped last week. his not out of trouble. he has been indicted by the fed's. he was arrested last fall. he has been indicted on two federal charges of possession of child pornography. 41-year-old from perry hall was arrested and charged locally

after police found him with dozens of child porn images. court records shown that case is dropped even though he showed kids as young as toddlers having sex with adults. in late february wilson was indicted in u.s. district court showing a 9-year-old engaged in sex acts pap -- and a picture of a teenage girl. we contacted the tsa to find out if he had been suspended or let go. we didn't hear back. >> thank you very much. it was definitely a scary scene in downtown baltimore. last night hundreds of teens and young adults from the inner harbor all the way to fillet street. not sure what lead up to the chaos. it started at 9:30 and lasted

90 minutes. police were called in from districts all over the city to restore the calm. we are not sure how many people were arrested. one person was tazed. one person was killed and two others injuried in three separate shootings. they were trying to escape from robberies. a third shooting at 11:00 on friday night turned deadly. a 25-year-old man was shot several times in baltimore. after police arrived the victim was taken to the hospital. he died shortly after. a bus crash on its way to special needs event . the bus collided near college parkway. 7 people were injured including drivers from both vehicles. they all had minor injuries. the cause of the crash is under investigation. dramatic video out of the ritz resort where several people were injured during a

cardboard boxcar race. participants made vehicles out of cardboard boxes. 15 people were in the vehicle that collided with pipes that support a snow -making machine. police need your help tonight trying to find a person who hit a construction worker on 95 southbound early saturday morning. worker was laying concrete when he was hit by a car. police are looking for a silver or gold colored sedan. possibly a pontiac grandprix with front end damage. anyone with information is asked to call police. 410-537-1209. that worker is in stable condition. the u.s. army agent

a father created an app to block calls and text messages. the inventor came up with the idea thinking of his own children driving some day. >> i don't want them doing this. >> reporter: he knows they are growing up fast. before he knows it all three will be asking for the car keys . >> driving in today's world, they are eight. they are eight years away from driving. there are so many distractions and deaths on the roads caused by people texting. >> reporter: two years ago troy

began working on a phone app to block calls and texts while driving. he hired a california company to develop the life before text app. it just hit the market. >> it was a shock that it finally came together. >> reporter: more and more safe driving apps are becoming available to drivers. >> if you are driving down the road and i want to text somebody that comes up. >> reporter: we took troy's app for a test drive. going ten mile-per-hour parents have a few options. app is supposed to block calls, texts and e-mails. >> it says missed call from my cell phone. it didn't ring or bother you. >> no. i got my eyes on the road. making sure i don't hit anybody or get in a wreck. you have your twitter here but no cell phone use. >> reporter: emergency calls will be made. if a teenager driver disables

the app parents can get an e- mail. troy spent $20,000 creating the app. consumers can buy it for a one-time free of $3.98. troy said it is not about the money but his kid's safety and other drivers. >> even if i don't make any money, it is worth the investment i made to put on my children's phones. it started with 49 and ended with one. city and county had seventh annual baltimore spelling bee. tonight we know who will rep isn't our area in two months in washington. congratulations to the 8- year-old. he is heading to d.c. he spelled the word fuselage in the 17th round to win first place. congratulations.

not a bad sunday. had fog. as that burned off we had a better day in progress. 61 bwi marshall. i look for a decent day tomorrow. certainly the clouds more likely to hold tough through the day. more likely we'll see a shower or two. no new cold air arriving for the next several days. belair see the morning fog. as the day went pasted midday the sunshine came out. that allowed temperatures out of the 50s and climb into the mid 60s across maryland. maryland's radar showing showers in northern virginia. leading edge of unsettled weather that arrives in maryland tomorrow. could bring us showers. 61 bwi marshall. 70 york. upper 70s from easton to the western delmarva area. closer to the ocean you can see

the east breeze. 46 ocean city. winds are from the east. they are light. as these winds pick up through the day tomorrow they could hold temperatures down in the 60s much of the day. that with additional cloud cover it could be tough to get beyond 70 tomorrow. this is way above average. humidity on the high side. this helps fuel fog developing overnight lasting into tomorrow morning. we saw that last night into this morning. there is a good chance we'll see it tonight. main area of unsettled weather is out there over the mountains. that will drift through central maryland through the afternoon and evening tomorrow. could allow showers to crop up through the afternoon. we'll watch for that. overall the pattern will be another warm set up. unsettled briefly tomorrow. warm southerly flow will continue this week with high pressure offshore. we'll get a true southeast wind. that could bring temperatures down in a hurry because the

ocean water temperature and bay water temperature around 50. if we get a southeast wind we'll warm up to 70 or beyond. that's our story all week. trend showing hit-and-miss showers. a lot will stay west through tomorrow afternoon. then some showers into tomorrow night. it looks like additional cloud cover around tuesday. tuesday looks relatively dry. over night 52. clouds on the increase. as we work into your monday back to work and school 70. most of the day in the 60s. there will be a chance for hit and miss showers. tomorrow night we'll dry out. keeping it mostly cloudy down to 52. seven-day forecast looking ahead. spring begins tuesday. even though it felt that way quite a while. looking like spring as we go into the mid to upper 70s toward the end of the week. stay with us. we'll be right back.
