introduced at the basilica downtown with a message of united spirit as the catholic church proclaimed the gospel for our times. >> i ask that the spirit, the holy spirit will inspire, unifoip and strengthen us all as we move forward. >> reporter: it's a faith that may be tested. maryland just passed same-sex marriage which is likely headed for a referendum in the fall. archbishop lori is the chairman of a new ad hoc committee and a strong supporter that marriage is between one man and one woman a belief he plans to spread as a possible vote looms. >> i will be teaching as a bishop but working with all of the other leaders as the referendum unfolds. >> reporter: the clawrp has also been a leading critic of the

mt. st. marys. brian kuebler, abc2 news. >> we want it get you caught up on that news in baltimore county. joce sterman is there, reports of a multiple stabbing. >> reporter: kelly, this all started about 3:45. we're on spectator lane in garrison. this unfolded about 3:45. police were called out for reports of a stack. when we got her at 4:00, there was an active scene. police had several people outside and a young man inside. we spoke to the officer on the scene who told us at left one person was stabbed and shots were fired. we went around and started talking about witness. what they told us is this

started as a fight outside of the house. at least one person was stabbed and shots were fired what you can't see from the scene on spectatetor lane there's additional scene around the corner. police on that street which looks like fifth harden. a lot of information being seen. a lot of people saw what happened. police are trying to sort through the information as they piece together what happened. at left one person has been stabbed. shots have been fired. we're waiting for a public information officer to come out. they did have one person in the back of the squad car. that scene has dispersed. we'll have more details as we get more information at the scene. live in garrison, joce sterman. well, we look over federal

want to take you back out live to baltimore county, an update on the stabbing in that area. a couple folks take ton area hospitals. it happened on spectator lane in garrison about 3:45 this afternoon. police found two people suffering from stab wounds. witnesses also heard shots fired. we have that crew on the scene. we'll hear much more from joce at 6:00. we have the latest on the deadly school shooting in france. police are looking for the person who killed four people yesterday. investigators believe he is also behind two recent attacks on french paratroopers that left three people dead. police believe the suspect may have recorded his attack.

new details about the army staff sergeant accused of killing 16 afghan civilians. abc2 news as learned that sergeant bales ripped them off in ohio. he worked as a broker. an independent contractor found bails had engaged in -- bales had engaged in fraud in trading. a arby traitor ordered him and his associate to pay more than $1.4 million. criminal charges in the shooting are expected later this woman. a woman who was almost killed in a shopping cart attack is telling her story. she said some teens dropped the cart on her four stories up. you see two teenagers pulling up a shopping cart over the railing of a parking garage.
