let's get to check on the weather, happy monday, hope you had a great weekend. >> happy monday to you too we will have changing weather for today. the rain over the weekend. at least it was the weekend. we were dry for today. we have cool and breezy conditions moving in to the picture. we look at maryland's most powerful radar, things dried out nicely. what we are going to contend with, we are going to pick up in the winds as we go through time. the winds north and west at 5- 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 16 miles an hour, in to baltimore, that's what we will be dealing with through the remainder of today. we will talk about the freeze watch we have in effect as well. let's get a check of traffic. we are starting off without fog. traffic conditions off to a nice start.

as we get a live look downtown. 895, north of charles street. we are pretty good here, wide open, towards the tunnel. first look at the beltway this morning, same scenario off to an excellent start as we get a look on the topside of 69 a, making past delaney valley road. department of public works is warning those of you living along the argon drive to harford road, a blast beginning today. controlled explosives used to breakthrough bedrock. it's part of the replacement phase. it will occur on and off all week, residents will hear a siren prior to the blast. if you live in the area, you may here echos from the explosives. it's scheduled for completion in january of 2013. today the case grabbing nationwide attention is coming

to baltimore. residents will be meeting to rally in support of trayvon martin. charley crowson is live with a preview of what is expected. >> reporter: it's been one month to the day since trayvon martin was killed in florida. outside of orlando by neighborhood watch leader george zimmerman. it's gained national attention. baltimore is getting involved with a march and rally scheduled for today. during the weekend demonstrators from half a dozen groups spent the weekend getting signs and placards prepared and ready for the message of solidarity in the death of the slain teen. many calling for the arrest of zimmerman, saying he is the admitted shooter, charged with murder. reverend witherspoon is calling for local and state law enforcement to begin examining the authorities granted to neighborhood watch groups like

the one zimmerman headed up. >> operating like qa sigh police agencies, we need to make sure they know not to put their hands on anyone and make sure the cities have enforcement on these types of groups. >> reporter: it the going to conclude near the baltimore city police headquarters. a vigil scheduled for 7:00 in front of city hall. abc2 news will have you covered on air and on line at abc2news.com. investigation in to a shooting that happened in west baltimore. a woman went outside to see what was going on and found her 18 year-old son murdered on west lafayette street. her son was shot multiple times. we will keep you posted on the investigation.

three people were inside a home around noon, when one of them saw fire shooting through the sun room. it happened at a home on green ashton court. three people got out in time. a veteran firefighter was burned on his ear and neck taken to the baby burn center, more than 1/2 million dollars damage was. a fire overtook a building, it took all available firefighters a while to put this out. the back of the building collapsed. today, police chief james tier will answer questions about an alleged actions of arundel county executive, john leopold. he is accused of using members of his police detail. when leopold made the actions lookouts while he had sex in

county parking lots. the indictment said officers told him about leopold's he did action. tier has not been charged. former vice president and eastern shore neighbor dick cheney is recovering from a heart transplant surgery. he is recovering this morning. he received a new heart saturday at a hospital in falls church he was on the transplant list for 20 months. questions are raised about whether he is too old for a new heart. some hospitals will not perform a transplant on a patient over the age of 65. challengers against the affordable health care act will begin the hearing before the supreme court. sherrie johnson is following the story with what is expected today. the u.s. supreme court takes up a historic test of when the health care law is valid under the constitution. this comes two years after president barack obama signed in to law a health care overhaul. states across the country filed

lawsuit challenging the law led by florida 26 states. it requires every american to buy health insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty. opponents say the constitution commerce clause does not give congress the power to force people to buy a commercial product like health insurance. the government defense is sweeping reforms arguing medical care is not a choice that every american will need health care at some point in their lives. >> these issues are central to whether the government can regulate anything it wants to. >> no one is saying there is a right to free load off of one's neighbor when you decide not to choose health insurance. >> states are high with the supreme court. analysts feel the justices will be able to put the political overtones aside to tackle the case. support of the affordable health care act will hold a

press conference in front of the u.s. supreme court including members of congress, doctors, nurses, patients and other whose have benefited from the reform law. the rally will begin at 8:30 this morning. after winning louisiana's primary over the weekend, rick santorum got spicy during his victory speech. what he had to say about mitt romney and catching slack this morning. severe weather forced mandatory evacuations this weekend. a look straight ahead.

presidential candidate john edwards scheduled to be in court for pretrial motions, charged with six criminal counts accused of using campaign contributions to hide his affair with hunter. a march will start at 5:00 for trayvon martin. the individual it is set for 7:00 p.m. in front of city hall. jury selection could start today in the pretrial of twin brothers traverse and germane johnson. they set a pit bull on fire three years ago. the dog was euthanized. lawyers for the twins want certain information excluded. a judge will make a ruling on that later on today. rick santorum didn't hold back on his criticism of mitt romney. he tore in to the front runner while at a campaign stop in wisconsin. listen to what we had to say.

abuse. he has pled not guilty. around the nation, testimony begins in the sex abuse scandal of the catholic archdiocese in philadelphia. sherrie johnson brings us the details. >> testimony begins at 9:00 in the sexual abuse scandal involv agro man catholic church archdiocese. he maybe the first to stand trial for covering up accusations. it goes up to the highest authority in the philadelphia archdiocese. william lynn was in charge of investigating priests accused of child abuse. we will have more on this case including the impact on the church coming up at 5:00 and 6:00 this morning. albuquerque police union is under fire for policy to give up to $400 to police officers who've shot someone. union officials argue that the policy is to help officers who

they are north at 5-10 miles per hour. they will be picking up 15-20 miles per hour as we go in to the afternoon. the satellite and radar pushing that system out of the area, that was plaguing us in the middle of the nation all last week, that's out of heres we will have a cold front that dies down but dry with that. the next one will be bringing us rain across the area as we go in to your wednesday. for today, we will get sunshine in here, lingering as we go in to tuesday and the temperature coming in at 60 degrees with lots of sunshine, it will be cooler and breezy compared to the 70s and 80s we got last week. this is what i want to draw your attention to. a freeze watch in effect later this evening. we have a freeze warning in effect 3:00 in the morning to 9:00 tomorrow. that's where the areas here shaded in the lighter blue, darker blue is the freeze watch. tender vegetation is going to be in some spots, maybe killed.
