was a convicted child molester. >> reporter: they know him as the mile mannered preacher. had they searched his name, they might have known of his criminal past. >> they're neighbors, yet denny workman knows very little about the church next door except for the obvious. >> reporter: apparently members of the congregation they didn't know of the secret of frank small. it appeared no one bothered to check but small appears on the maryland sex ral registry. he gave a young girl a ride home from church and proceeded to grope her and offered to perform oral sex on her. small was prohibited from having unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 18.

to call 410-683-6349. more trouble looms for a trrm baltimore city cop accused of killing his neighbors. charles richter is charged in the murder of mark xander but he has another serious legal battle to deal with. joce sterman has more. >> reporter: richter's trial is supposed to start in five days but he's got more trouble on the horizon. he now faces child pornography charges. charles richter is known to most as pete and is accused of shooting his neighbor mark xander to death last year. the trial on the assault charges start on monday. the charges were filed by the state based on evidence they found in richter's house during

the murder investigation. richter is well known in queen anne's' county. he ran twice for sheriff and lost. joce sterman, abc 2 news. >> the father of the boy who didn'tal -- accidentally shot himself has been charged. state police say shawn ice woke up to find her son had a chest wound. according to police the boy had been playing with his dad's handgun. we have a guilty plea for a georgia woman accused of injecting illegal silicone into the butts of her baltimore customers. kimberly smedley was injecting

super glue. she admitted going over the injections between 2003 and 2011. the silicone was not fda approved. a local exotic dancer paid smedley for injections on four occasions. silicone has been found in that woman's lungs. more than a dozen dogs found wandering around baltimore county need a loving home. they found 18 dogs. 10 were found in a box and the others wandering around halethorpe. they range from a german shepherd to a yorkie poo. the animal shelter say it's rare to see this many animals want consider iting around. >> it's extremely rare.

all right. things getting a little more quiet. there are some showers and storms but on the eastern shore we cleared out. south of the i-66 corridor coming into washington, areas of southern maryland still getting a decent down pour moving into tobacco company, just an isolated shower or two left for central maryland. winds are southwest at eight and bear metric pressure holding steady for the moment. winds will be picking up. i wanted to show you this. there's that line of storms in mt. airy and clearing quickly. there's a thin line. the conditions at the surface didn't support true weather.

yes, lightning is always a danger and you see things clear out. again, we're already back in business with relatively clear weather in baltimore and most of the surrounding areas. wepts from the south continuing to funnel in some very warm mild air, gusting now to near 30 in western maryland. we'll get cooler hair into the day tomorrow -- air into the day tomorrow. the high temperatures likely to not get past the low 60s tomorrow but on the whole we look for some improved weather into the day tomorrow and even into friday. far row line. you can see it here, narrow frontal boundary just enough to produce scattered thunderstorms here and more severe type weather in west virginia, northern virginia but this was pretty far away from us. the overall friend north of that front obviously, some clear weather moving. the warm air will get pushed out

of here but will be relatively mild tomorrow. as we look at the moisture map crop want these dew point numbers to be north of 55, even to 60 to get a true severe weather event. dew point stuck at 50, so really didn't have the conditions for severe weather. the conditions will continue to clear out tonight into the day on thursday, just a mix of sun and clouds, gorgeous weather. we begin to cloud up. there will be the threat for a few showers as we go into the first half of the weekend. partly cloudy, mild, breezy. tomorrow 62. mostly sunny, windy and mild and i did want to show you the picture tomorrow night as pictures begin to drop again. it's not bad but it will be chilly tomorrow night. the outlook as we look ahead, bottom line is pretty mild decent weather.

there. hey, some elementary school students are trying their hands at writing. they have published their very own books. sherrie johnson is learning how the authors are making a big difference. >> reporter: here in east baltimore students are working on a writing assignment. these assignments led to students publishing their own books. it's part of the young author's project. >> i think every mode of many people are important. reluctant to write. it's a wonderful way to share what you're thinking and feeling. >> reporter: hope academy is a men industry. this is the first year the students have published a book and they're excited about it. >> having something i wrote
