what you stopping for. >> you can see the smoke and flames and you can hear the panic in the voices. two people have died, one woman is missing since that fire started. now it started as a controlled burn before it spread and got out of control. >> to a developing story. 17-year-old isaiah simmons died in 2007. he was attending the bollingbrook school in carroll county. no criminal charges were filed in the death and involves five counselors at the school restraining him. news is not sitting well with his family and sherrie johnson has all new reaction from his mom. >> reporter: care rail county prosecutors dropped -- carroll county prosecutors dropped reckless endangerment charges in the death of 17-year-old isaiah simmons. he died in 2007. he was sent to the now closed bollingbrook school in carroll county because he was found responsible for a robbery. the counselors were charged in connection with restraining simmons for more than three hours until he stopped breathing. investigators say they waited

more than 40 minutes to call 911. the state's attorney says there are several problems with the case. the lead investigator in the sheriff office faces allegations of misconduct in a separate case and prosecutor says that would make the testimony unreliable. but simmons family is not buying this. the family attorney says there's no value on an african american male's life in 93% white carroll county. >> we never felt as if the state attorney's office really cared too much about this matter. you got 7 individuals who are walking the street basically got away with murder. >> it's not fair. it's not fair. i have no. [audio not understandable] carroll county as of yet. >> -- >> reporter: the family's lawsuit against the state and bollingbrook school was settled two years ago a new school opened on the site of the former bollingbrook school. megan back to you. a family is mourning the

death of their 17-year-old daughter. she was running -- running track when she collapsed. her face says she told a friend she felt pain in her chest before falling to the ground and she had no history of heart problems. she is was in good health and in the rotc program at her school. >> we were dancing last night and for a -- we were walletsing last night and he -- waltzing last night. >> she was senior in high school and they are work to term how she died and what caused that death. news around the nation andrea yates the woman convicted of murdering her five children wants to leave the state mental hospital once a week. her attorney is expected to file a let wert court asking she be allowed to attend weekly church seess can be -- sessions. it's a first step having a life

outside the hospital she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. earl scruggs was 88 years old and is dead. his family says he died of natural causes. scruggs played with the likes of bob dylan and elton john and many others during the years and won a number of grammys. he was a regular at the grand old opry and he was known for the theme song from the beverly hill billies. the tv show you remember it he did the sound track for the 1967 movie bonnie and clyde. 5:34. tim tebow's name is at the center of a lawsuit filed by nike. they are suing reebok for selling new york jets apparel with the name of the new quarterback. nike says it is the only company authorized and licensed to use his name on clothing. there's confusion over rights as the league is in the midst of dropping reebok in favor of nike. reebok didn't respond to a request for comment on this

story. an ingredient that makes strawberry frappuccinos pink has grossed out people this morning. that beautiful pink hugh that the drink that color is courtesy of crushed insects. a barista gave that news to a website that is unhappy with the coffee chain. they started using bugs to move away from dyes. and other artificial ingredients. the extract is fda approved and they say it would never do anything to harm customers. here's what customers had to say about the news. >> it's still technically all natural and still probably organic. >> did it gross you out they use bug extract. >> they use bugs in all sorts of things. i am not terribly surprised or concerned. >> all right. so starbucks officials say the product like juices is made by other companies and they have the same insect being a extract in it but some customers think

now "good morning maryland." 5:4 3. today several governors from different states will tour one of the plants that makes what's been dubbed pink slime. they want to show their support for product and jobs that product creates. abc2 news linda so is here to tell us what this is about. linda. >> reporter: three governors including texas governor rick perry will tour a plant in nebraska later today saying they want to show the support for the company that makes so- called spirchg slime. they believe pot duct has -- pink slime. they believe the product has been unfairly targeted. the chief ingredient is leftover bits of bees and treated with ammonia gas to kill bacteria.

in recent weeks public sentiment turned against it because the government doesn't require meat packers to list it on labels. several grocery chains havestopped selling pink slime and the main producer of the product had to temporarily shut down three of the four plants because of the recent backlash. >> i believe that the national media have permeated this discussion with a poisonous tone that is detrimental to the beef industry and will hurt jobs and hurt the catel producers in the state of iowa. >> now -- >> reporter: a spokesman for the national meat association says if consumers insist on eliminating pink slime from ground beef, prices will go up. linda so, abc2 news. in the democracy 2012 news a cnn poll shows president obama holding a double digit lead over mitt romney and rick santorum. if the general election were held today, instead of november, 54% of voters would

back the president only 43% said they would back the current front-runner mitt romney. the president head 55-42 laze over santorum. today governor omally will vote in the primary election taking advantage of the early voting and cast a ballot as a public safety facility in baltimore. primary day in maryland is next tuesday. april 3rd but early voting began on may 24th and goes through today. this is to give everyone a chance to cast that ballot. presidential candidate ron paul spoke to a crowd at the university of maryland college park. 1500 supporters were there chanting president paul before he started his speech. when it comes to be religious, mississippi is the number one state. a poll finds the magnolia state is the most religious in the united states. nearly 6 in 10 feel from mississippi consider themselves to be very religious. utah was the large number of mormon residents came in

culpepper and 54 in frederick. here's weather pattern. this is what's happening with everything. we have high pressure that's going to build in once the frontal passage goes through and then we have low pressure moving out of here. the difference between that high and low that's why we are getting the windy conditions this morning and even as we go into the afternoon. now future trend picking up on plenty of sunshine mixing with clouds for today. but then we will start to see some more showers work their way in here as this next system approaches from the west. and we will overnight into friday, saturday that's when we will see the rain moving into the picture so if you are going to be out and about early on saturday you want the rain gear but it gets out of here so things look better and drier going into saturday afternoon. and the second part of the weekend looking good. for today, 62 degrees the sun- cloud mix mild and windy and by tonight, yes, the temperatures drop back off. 30s we are looking at and we have frost in some places and it will be chilly and breezy

once again. but 37 is basically where we should be now for this time of the year. by tomorrow, that temperature coming in at 60 degrees and we will get increasing clouds and the showers will come overnight. and this is what it looks like for the seven-day forecast as we will be in the 60s all across the board may squeeze out 70 going into monday. but we will have a chance for more showers to work in tuesday and wednesday. let's check of the traffic with angela. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you. and good morning everyone. traveling through the city right now, on interstate 95 you will see a lot of flashing lights at bast boston street. aid medical call but we had a lot emergency vehicles partially blocking the off-ramp at boston street and we are seeing a line of cars behind it. expect a brief delay in that region. in the meantime, beltway remains delay and incident free. for those of you who travel between i-70 and i-83 on the inner loop here's a live look at green spring avenue all lanes clear and moving pretty well for you. on the west side, traffic flow checking out top speeds as you make your way past baltimore national pike.
