let's get a check on the road with meteorologist wyatt everhart. wyatt, when will this wind let up? >> not as powerful as yesterday but s a breezy, breezy day. mid-60s. here's the good part. we got warmer than expected from baltimore south and east through the lower eastern shore. further west, frederick west stuck in the 50s. winds gusting from the west 25. that, plus bone dry humidity levels around 23%, less then 23% in baltimore. that's why we have that enhanced fire risk continuing. red flag warning through 8:00. this may well be extended into the day tomorrow. we'll talk about hour chances for rain and a wild swing in the temperatures. it's all coming up. the national weather service has issued a red flag warning for all of maryland except for garrett county through k-78

tonight. dry, windy conditions are ideal for fires to start. jeff hager spoke with forest rangers today who are still monitoring one such fire in joplin. >> reporter: rangers and firefighters stopped the fire which scorched 18-acres in joppa but their work is far from over. >> you'll see smoke, things like that. right now it's all interior. our rangers will be back daily checking to make sure there's nothing on the fire line that could stoke up and start the fire again oar are within the last 48 hours this fishings coupled with separate fires in recount recount -- anne arundel and cecil counties, rangers point to a similar fire that broke out in new jersey monday as further evidence people need to heed the national weather service's red flag warning and

refrain from outdoor burning of any kind at least for now. fueled by 40-mile-an-hour winds, this fire spread to 1,000 acres. >> right now we're encouraging people not to do age outdoor burning at all. it's too dry and too windy. just be careful with other sources whether you're doing that outdoor cookout. make sure it's in a safe area that it's not over fuels that are easily going to ignite. >> reporter: here in maryland alone the same dry conditions set the stage for 500 wildfires each year, spanning 4,000 acres. just last month rangers say one last fire claimed the life of a plan in dorchester county who was burning materials outdoors when the fire got out of control. jeff hager, abc2 news. the state fire's supervisor said sporadic rain showers will not be enough to eliminate the risk of wildfires. that, he says, will take a day

or two of steady rain. well, red flag warning are issued to make sure local fire departments are aware of potential fire conditions. such fires, once they start in open areas could move really fast. the american red cross has these stip -- tips. make sure you have these things, water, nonperishable foods a flashlight larks battery powered hand cranked radio. have a first i'd kit and any -- aid kid and any medications. the maryland legislators have come to the end of their session without passing the budget. they did, however pass what they're calling a dooms day budget. there are several cuts and no added taxes. one of the sticking points with have added table games to casino

any incidents, delays or crashes. the man who hit and killed two teenagers will stand trial. it was last year that rubin dunn hit 16-year-old courtney angeles and 17-year-old emerald smith and fled the scene. dunn will face charges of driving under the influence as well as reckless and negligent driving. the families say it's still hard to comprehend. >> i don't know what my reaction will be. it will be so hard seeing the guy who took my sister and emerald away. it will be mind blowing. >> the trial starts tomorrow at 11 a.m. downtown. a man who once lived in maryland is now on the fbi's most wanted list. take a good look. eric toth was a third grade teacher in washington, d.c. the fbi said he will replace osama bin laden has number one on the list.

in fact, a freeze watch. carroll county west into frederick, the possibility of some frosty conditions by daybreak. bring in the plants, for the rest of us we're all looking at this enhanced fire risk. wind, low humidity adding up to a red flag warning. more than three inches beyond our typical rain total for the year so really over half of what we normally have. that, plus the wind which is from 25, gusting to 30. so that kind of wind, this kind of low humidity it all adds up to some very, very enhanced fire conditions, so be very careful with any of those outdoor sources of ignition. all right. to the north there is rain over pennsylvania but not expecting that to creep further south. we should remain dry in maryland, virginia and delaware. to the west very little new weather on the map. a brief disturbance riding up

the front combined with that flow out of the north. this will mean more cloud cover and potentially a few hit or mills showers. any rain would be welcome, especially through the middle part of the week. any rain that does come down and we saw this on the radar, any rain that falls will encounter dry air at the surface. sometimes they evaporate before we hit the ground, what we call verga. that could be the scenario tomorrow. the trend shows nothing more than a hit or miss shower tomorrow. as we go from tomorrow into thursday we clear the skies, warm things up to 60. everall the pattern looks dry through the end of next weekend and warming up. overnight 38, polesly cloudy. your two degree guarantee 55, clouds mixed with sun, maybe a stray shower or two. that would be welcome. tomorrow night 36, possibly more
