me out, that's when i fell on the ground. i was lucky that he pulled me out. >> reporter: there's only one thing to say to a guy who did that. >> i said thanks a lot. thanks for being there. >> reporter: it took firefighters 40 minutes to get the fire under control and they stayed on the scene another two hours. >> close to 70 firefighters from anne arundel and baltimore county helped put the fire out. now the red cross is helping 11 people. three men were arrested in the shooting of four people and one of them was killed, a 12-year-old. we have 18-year-old derrick brown, 29-year-old danyae robinson and 21-year-old antwan mosley, all charged with the murder of sean johnson. johnson was one of four people

shot watching the nba playoffs in may. the 12-year-old died two days later. it was one of three shootings. police say several witnesses helped identify the suspects. brown and robinson are charged with assault and mosley in the shooting. 11:30 last night a car zooms by and this does not and well for a young mother and her infant. the questions are just beginning. >> reporter: police say the car raced past them and wouldn't pull lost sight of them until he came it a deadly intersection. the car blew the rest light and crashed into another car killing the 21-year-old woman. the infant survived president the driver tried to flee only to be caught and arrested. he, too, was brought to the hospital.

his charges may include drugs found on his person but won't know the total list. after they review cameras and perform an accident reconstruction. with the young mother dead, a drug charge may be the least of this driver's worries. >> he has not been charged at this point. we're conferring with prosecutors. he will face very serious traffic violations. he will answer for the death in this case and the drugs that were found on his person. >> reporter: police say this was not a police chase. the department has a policy against such actions and say they caught up with the suspect after he had already hit the other car. police expect to fully charge the man either later tonight or tomorrow. a man police say was driving the car that rear ended another vehicle that then struck an anne arundel police officer has been arrested. leo carroll faces several traffic related charges.

carroll left the scene after the crash but was found and arrested. a 23-year veteran had surgery at shock trauma. he is in serious but stable condition. the corporal was hit after asking the driver he pulled over to move over. nowhere near the heat from yesterday but what a great day to go down to the harbor. things are about to cool off. wyatt is here to tell us about our night. wyatt? bright and sunny after cloud cover this afternoon. we're clearing out into the evening. a couple of showers which would be welcome way west of us. so the bottom line is this. we'll continue to look for some improving weather into the next few hours. temperatures comfortable, mid-70s cooling off later

75 here. 55 out in oakland. so quite the contrast across the statement of cooler air continuing to funnel in on the northwesterly breezes. our high temperatures today reaching close to 80 at least downtown but not quite getting there, this representing about a 15 to 20-degree cooloff in spots. that's a nice, nice improvement. look at the humidity. it has completely dropped and very dry pleasant conditions. some rain on the radar but completely diminishing as it moves in the direction of maryland. our main rain maker bottled up south of us. we think part of this system may clip us tomorrow, bring us hit or miss showers tomorrow afternoon. two areas of low pressure. cooler air will funnel. we'll see more clouds tomorrow. after a cool start we may not get out of the 60s.

cooler. mid to upper 60s about normal this time of the year. you could see the contrast. this is the cooler air that will funnel in tonight. 60s and 50s. the trend in terms of rainfall timing will go. it will stop at noon. you can see a chance for banding of rain. the main storm system will be toward the atlanta area. we could see a few showers bring us some rain. as we take a look at the picture into thursday, looks like it will dry out and clear out. it's this system that could spiral a few needed rain showers. overnight 50. and tomorrow just 63. generally cloudy with a chance for showers tomorrow night. nothing more than a stray shower. that better chance of rain we project into the weekend, low 70s to 60s. could see soaking rain for the weekend, so stay tuned on that one. >> this is quite an honor.

we have some disturbing news for those who need anesthesia. some drug shortages are affecting care. now the american society of anesthesiologists found that doctors have been forced to use alternative drugs and more than half have had a change in procedure. in some shortages have resulted in death of a patient. if you are having surgery ask the doctor if this will lay fact your procedure. a depressed mother could end up giving her baby developmental issues. researchers say if the mother is
