4:01 pm
fell in? >> the herculean efforts to save his life and his leg. how much is that doggie in the window? wait, he's not for sale. another video to make you say. >> firefighters. >> a full on mcryan. >> mcdonald's. >> see the panic when a young band of jackels took over the joint. and the cutest video of the day. you ought to watch and then judge for yourself. i'm going to begin today's show with a difficult rescue. emergency rescuers were dispatched to grant county mulch in laurel, maryland. when they arrived on the scene they found a worker trapped inside this mulching machine. what they think happened, according to reports, is that a worker fell into this machine and was lodged in between the shredding blade and the wall.
4:02 pm
>> so this thing was on when he fell in? >> he got lodged in the blade. >> my gosh, what's his condition? >> when emergency crews arrived, they quickly realized they were going to need more help, so they called in a go team, which is basically people who normally work in a hospital setting but are called to a scene during a traumatic incident. they actually brought people in from university of maryland shop tram, a hospital. a member of the go team was lowered into this team and sedated this man and intubated him so they could rescue him. at one point they thought they were going to have to amputate his legs in order to get him from the scene. once they sedated this man, they were able to get him out from these blades without having to amputate his legs. they had to dismantle part of the machine in order to get him out. once they got him dislodged they ended up hooking the stokes basket to the fire track ladder and lifting him out.
4:03 pm
he was then airlifting to a hospital. his legs are severely injured but he is alive. >> oh, my gosh. how long was this whole ordeal. you would think he's bleeding to death. >> it took rescuers 90 minutes to free this man from this machine. at one point they had over 50 people on scene. >> i can't imagine. it's a horror scene. several tornadoes hit the u.s. in the last few weeks. i have video from national geographic that is just amazing. this tornado hit near langley, kansas. as you can see, it's huge. >> massive. >> look how quick the tracker car is moving and it's paralleling this tornado. >> that's scary. >> the video was being shot by a national geographic explorer and
4:04 pm
extreme storm researcher. so he was driving toward this tornado that at one point crossed the freeway right in front of him. >> oh, man. that's insane. you're taking this video, what is running through your head? this thing could easily take a holy mackerel. >> extremely close. as you can see he is driving toward the tornado. he is an extreme tornado researcher. maybe he's desensitized to the fear most of us would feel. >> it's hard to fathom the concept of watching this come across the street and to still move forward. >> they are till driving toward it. the thing is massive. i can't imagine what it must be like to be there and look at this massive creation of nature.
4:05 pm
when a dog is trapped on a window ledge, it's passaic fire department to the rescue. apparently people weren't home. the window was open enough so the dog could dislodge the scene. the screen is blocking the dog from getting back into the house. >> he looks so scared. look at the little eyes bugging out of his head. >> of course he's terrified but the fire department is there to help out. the fire department arrives and the firefighter -- he doesn't have the whole ladder truck to assist but does get an extendible ladder. of course the firefighter grabs him. >> like the firefighter sees something they don't like. >> told them to check and see if there's a dead body in there. maybe the dog was abandoned. the dog is safe. >> yea firefighters. >> the dog was handed over to
4:06 pm
animal control. they were waiting for hours for somebody to pick the dog up. the dog by the end of the day had not been picked up by the owner. >> somebody must have come home and said in the store below and say, by the way, you might want to check with animal control, they have your dog. >> everybody becomes a softie. i want everybody to know the dog is okay and in the care of animal control until they can get in touch with the owner. this mini riot, would you believe, is inside of mcdonald's. >> looks like the trading board of the new york stock exchange. this is about 100 kids inside a uk mcdonald's in wiggins. they are going insane, screaming obscenities, throwing trash, hopping behind the counter. completely out of control.
4:07 pm
guys, girls screaming obscenities at those mcdonald's workers behind the counter. they freaked out the staff of this mcdonald's so much they had to push the panic button. they rang the alarm that would normally call the police. the police had to come and break it up. >> what prompted them to do this? >> no idea what got these kids started. but basically they just freaked out inside this mcdonald's. police are asking parents if you see your kids in this video, turn them in. nobody was hurt in this incident but you can see the entire restaurant taken over by kids. >> how many actually bought something. >> probably none. >> it's report add few of the kids even stole some of the food.
4:08 pm
a guy sitting there in an orange jumpsuit and a net over his head. you know the police are showing up to check this out. see what happens in the video called one good cop. >> most of us were told when we were kids, don't play with fire. >> advice ignored by the guy behind this video. see why and see what

4:11 pm
members of parliament are calling this the worst environmental disaster since the oil fires of the '90s. hundreds of firefighters came in to try to contain this blaze. firemen from the national guard, army and the oil sector all joined forces. they were using a method of building up dirt tracks around the places that wereor contain earea. luckily on wednesday the weather was playing in their favor and moved a lot of the smoke and debris toward the sea. >> were any of their efforts as far as building dirt roads, dividing the substance, was that working? >> they have been able to contain the fire. whenever i see tires piled up i think something needs to be done to recycle because it's a fire hazard. >> according to reports, they are wondering if this fire was set on purpose, if it was arson. citizens were really frustrated
4:12 pm
because there were so many fires. they are saying some members of parliament are going to demand an inquiry. so far reports say they have treated one man for minor injuries. cute baby squirrel. >> in the wild walking the squirrel. attack. ow, don't bite me. give him his apple. apple, apple. what do you think you're doing? don't do it. i want you guys to look at this guy and tell me if you would notice him if you were driving down the street in effingham, illinois. >> been here about an hour. been no police contact yet. >> in an orange jumpsuit.
4:13 pm
>> exactly. that is elliot nash, part of the shalom mississippi industry protesting the war in iraq, going city to city to protest. they have had interactions with police not so nice. in 2007 they were arrested for doing this. in effingham, illinois, they want to praise police for the contact they had with them. >> what's going on? we're protesting the war? >> not really, protesting christian support of the war. >> just heard about somebody in an orange jumpsuit, didn't know if somebody escaped from the police department. >> lord bless you. >> didn't ask for id. >> what i like about the cop. yeah, we got a report about somebody in a prison suit.
4:14 pm
so you know, i just came over to check everything out. he was really nonconfrontational. >> this was a social experiment to see how they would be treated by police? >> they were just out doing their thing, and they liked the way this cop didn't even ask them for their ids. >> people are so quick to post their videos, confrontations with police, claiming police brutality. it's kind of cool to see a video, this is something the cop did they thought was pretty cool. >> next time on "right this minute." this guy had something big to say. >> i know what's happened. >> what is it? tell us. that's next time on "right this minute." he's over 80. you know, he does this. >> old man strength to like the tenth degree. >> the story of joe and his tenth degree old man strength on "right this minute." and now for the guys, some

4:19 pm
if you speed that clip up, you would see i got a little hair burn, never got injured. >> aren't you afraid they were going to cause a big fire? >> on that day it was actually a little bit rainy. the grass was a little bit wet and i had a fire extinguisher 20 feet away. >> so you're a professional? >> not really. >> what have your parents said? have they seen this video and said, jeffrey, quit playing with fire. >> when i was small, they didn't like me playing with fire. i showed them the videos and they liked the videos as well. we see videos on this show that say you're never too old to fall in love, you're never too old to try something new. apparently you're never too old to do power lifting. check out this man, competing in the canadian power nationals 2012 at 82 years old.
