we're getting you up to the minute on abc2 news at 5:30. spring gave way to winter, the storm that brought several inches of rain, brought them several inches of snow. in some cases winds were up to 50 miles an hour. crews returned to the scene of last night's fire in canton at a where house. they began neutralizing dangerous chemicals at the site of the eastern plating company. the fire forced dozens from their homes. fire crews found no significant levels and said the smell would go away after some people opened some of their homes. baltimore police making another arrest in that beating that was caught on tape. 20-year-old shayona davis faces robbery, theft and assault

charges. the video was taken on march 18th. plirls looking for -- police are looking for two other people suspected in the attack, 18-year-old deangelo carter and 21-year-old shatia baldwin. well, the rain started over the weekend and it just keeps on coming. take a live look at the harbor cam. it doesn't look like a misshot but the city is gray and second. let's check in with wyatt everhart to see how much longer it will stick around. temperatures really reflecting that cool windy conditions. here's the center of the large storm centered just off cape cod. again, we're getting well into the southern portion of the storm. the wind, the showers. we're dealing with all of. that as we zoom in we can see on maryland's most powerful radar, most of the showers scattered about and light. winds gusting to 25, even 22 miles an hour across the area. here's those scattered showers,

two female police officers went under cover arresting seven men looking for se. one was take tonight hospital for an unrelated medical problem and charged later. this all started when police began getting calls from the public. >> the 200 block of west street is where we have the most complaints but we do get complaints in other parts occasionally, but this is the most frequent area. >> reporter: during the police sting operation, some people had a view of the whole event. they said it looked like a scene right out of the movies. >> cops come right behind them. >> reporter: steve fisher is one of the owners at ruby's salon. the city has expanded the business revitalization. they had just closed up shop. >> another 15 minutes things happened. it went on for an hour and a half, 20 seconds every stop.

now to a story out of northeast washington, d.c. where over the weekend a man put his life on the line to save two children being terrorized by dogs. we have the very latest. >> reporter: this is more than a dog bite this. s with an animal attack. look at this surveillance video obtained exclusively for abc 7 news, two dogs on the loose. watch these kids. they jump on cars to escape the dogs and were trapped.

>> something out of a horror movie. >> these dogs were obviously trained to be mean, to be vicious. >> it seemed like they were hunting, like they were going after people. >> reporter: this was then that an day from, coming -- andre, coming home from the game stepped in. he was armed with a knife and the dogs turned that are attack on him. >> neighbors were throwing things out the window to distract them. >> andre was released from the hospital today. >> i got bit on the arms and got stitches. >> no one knows who the dogs belong to but many neighbors have seen the dogs through the window of that apartment building over there. check out this. this is a trail of bloody paw prints that if you chase the trail all the way it goes inside

powerful radar. scattered showers over central maryland. this is light rain. winter weather in western pennsylvania including garrett county, west of cumberland, in particular. in fact, we have footage to show you from deep creek lake. there's our berth -- here's our weather bug camera. you can see the snow coming down in our state, granted as far west as you can g what a winter like day in garrett county. this is unusual. look at frostburg, snow mixed with rain. didn't stick as well in the cumberland area, but still some snow showers coming out there. take you all the way east. no snow in ocean city. look at this, waves coming in. the waves are churning in the wake of this power house storm. temperatures mid-40s. we hid 50 briefly -- hit 50 briefly. oakland just 32 at the freezing

mark. winds gusting higher. winds gusting around 25, gusting to 33 in the last hour or two. making those temperatures feel much cooler. you don't talk about this in late april much. mid-30s. three above freezing is what this feels like, barely west of baltimore and barely north. winter advisories, you can see for the highest terrain in pennsylvania, extends through garrett county and pennsylvania. watch out for slick roads far west. in the meantime here it's going to be the rain and wind across central maryland and the eastern shore. we picked up several inches of much needed rain. we'll get more from a few more showers this evening. this storm is beginning to exit but churning bringing in that cold blast and very windy conditions and still enough moisture wrapping around to keep us cloudy. you can see that on our future

trend, generally cloudy scenario through the day. as we go tuesday through wentz -- wednesday, we begin to see clearing. overnight down to 37. two-degree guarantee 5, warmer but feeling cooler than average. tomorrow down to 39 with partial clearing. looking ahead, finding temperatures to rebound to more seasonable levels by wednesday and thursday. chance for more rain thursday. that's good news for farmers and into the weekend looks like a drier and better weather scenario this go around. >> thanks a lot. new to democrat democrat, speculation continues as to who mitt romney will pick to be his vice-presidential running mate. one popular candidate was on the trail with the presumptive nominee.

what's the latest on the vp search? >> reporter: once someone starts campaigning alongside mitt romney, the speculation builds on whether or not that person will be his running mate. today it was marco rubio's turn. >> i'm delighted that senator marco rubio agreed to join me for the trip. >> reporter: it's qun of the hottest -- one of the hottest names in the race. rub yes would help romney with the hispanic vote, fire up the party's base and give him an edge in the critical state of florida. today rubio traveled north to pennsylvania. >> there's whom one choice running for president that will help us reclaim and row scape clur the thing -- recapture the thing that makes this country different and he happens to be here today. his name is mitt romney, the next president of the united states. >> reporter: rub yes tried to pour cold water on a romney-rub yes ticket but didn't shut the

favorite facebook app private policies stack up. it's a new program run by privacy choice. the service rates more than 200 apps based on criteria like how much data is shared, how long information is stored or if it has an opt out feature. those scored 90 points are the most protive. between 80 and 90 proceed with caution. anything below 70 the least protective. users of sims and scrabble will be happy to know their privacy is well protected. angry bird scored only a 65. there are 140 different tracking entities that track information on users. when consumers install an app it typically requests information for advertising purposes. some companies give other companies access to your personal information. while it's meant for consumers, it will give developers the
