robert champion, jr. now prosecutors say 13 people are responsible. 11 are charged with hazing resulting in death a felony with a maximum charge of six years. >> we do not have a blow or shot or knife thrust that killed mr. champion. it is an aggregation things. >> reporter: authorities in florida said murder charges don't apply because champion suffered too many blunt force traumas for the medical examiner to know which within was fatal. champion died in december after a ritual in which they walk from the front to the back of the bus getting pummeled by band members. >> i pray that no other kid, no other parent has to go through it. >> reporter: 20 other people are being charged in misdemeanor hazing in unrelated cases.

the lead prosecutor said it's nothing short of an american tragedy. that prosecutor, lawson lamar said he's not naming the 13 people who have been charged because they have not been arrested yet and he is concerned they might flee. new information out of philadelphia about that duck boat crash that killed to hungarian students. a barge slammed into the back of the duck both of 3re thrown fron 2010. two students, just 16 and 20 were killed, not from the impact. instead, they drowned. the attorneys for the students have filed a civil wrongful death lawsuit. they said the crew was negligent, never ordered anyone to put on the life vests.

expensive decision, there are tips to help reduce that cost. >> reporter: going back to school could be cheaper than you think. there are ways to make self-ing -- saving for college easier. first, you can search for thousands of free classes on line through an open course consortium. you just type in what you're looking for like history or engineer and the site will give you links to hundreds of classes. if you want recommendations on which might be best for you check out education-portal.com. there's advice about taking classes online. you can find out how to transfer the credits to another school. while there are a ton of free courses, you're going to have to pay for a ton of your education to get degree. experts say a 529 plan is the

some disturbing video out of south carolina. this video shows two school employees hitting a student. the teachers are charged with simple assault and battery. the school district said they're on leave. a cab driver was charged

with assault after a fight with passenger. the fight lasted about 15 minutes. it started when one of the passengers got out and slammed the door. the four passengers jumped and kicked until the taxi driver speeds away knocking down a man. a victim is recovering at the hospital. check out this colorful catch. a fisherman caught this multicolored crustacean off the coast. they say the odds of finding such a lobster about 1 in 50 million. so don't puts this one in a pot anywhere. coming up, steve erkle is gone. jaleel white and his partner kym got the boot. and reality and fix --

much sunshine. you can see the contrast, 54 at the beach. 57 in dover. that includes cecil county. 60s around baltimore and york. 70s west and 80 and near 90 in northern virginia. we're right on the frontal boundary. you can see fred hit -- frederick almost hit 80. rain minimal. a little bit on the radar toward the hagerstown area. 70 crisscross here to the west, some showers but i'm not expecting those to have much of an impact for most of us. so cloudy skies will be the rule both tonight and probably in the early part tomorrow. this stalled out boundary likely to drift north tomorrow. that will put us back in the warmth across maryland. it will be a close call, another day where the boundary could shift. big weather down toward the south, but, again, it's that

stationary front, very warm temps south of it. cool temps north. baltimore where we're right under it we get a compromised temperature around the low 60s. the weather is active to the south. over the next few days minimal chances for rain. perhaps pop-up showers and perhaps a few more pop-up showers friday afternoon. some of these can linger into the morning sometimes but for the most part we will not see a lot of rain. our friends in miss mess and the gulf coast, flooding rain. look at that tropical mosh off the gulf of mexico. even though it may be grape and murky here, it's worse for hour friends down south. staying humid. tomorrow, a tough call. we think the boundary will slide north allow us to push up to 80. if the boundary nudges south we could be close to 70. tomorrow night 62 with showers possible, especially to the

west. the seven-day forecast, we look ahead to the weekend, towson town fest, cinco de mayo, you name it. the weekend is much warmer, 82 saturday. upper 70s on sunday for cinco de ses. newt gingrich is dropping out of the primary race. they are hoping voters will not forget what gingrich said over the past couple of months. >> democrats hope gingrich's words live on. he has been known for his strong jabs against his rivals. in fact, the former house

bruising journey. it's more appropriate to say secretary of state hillary clinton. back to you. president obama just returned from an unannounced visit to afghanistan. there's still a lot of discussion regarding the politics of that trip. what are people saying about that? >> reporter: this trip was a surprise. the fact that it's being viewed through a political lens, that's no surprise at all. we have a republican who has called this trip a campaign trip but mitt romney has not commenting. he said he was pleased the president returned. at no point did he say the trip was political. he was in virginia and hit the president hard on the economy calling him the most antismall business president since jimmy
