moderate rain really pushing in around the d.c. area and points off to the south. virginia this morning look at moderate rain but across tiny town, carol county we're looking at some of that moderate rain, the oranges, the yellows and also westminster at this time. we're also dealing with some more wet weather around oyesings mill, columbia, baltimore right now along i-70 we are dealing with some wet roadways and that's going to be the case as we go through the remainder of the morning and also as we go into the afternoon. visibilities, problems this morning once again. reduced visz bltd so we have about 7 miles in baltimore. and 4 in york. all right. let's get a check now of time saver traffic with lauren. and the last time i talked to you there was an accident out there. >> we are dealing with several accidents. trouble on 95 where there's a crash right along the northbound lanes at interstate 195 and another accident on interstate 195 right along the eastbound lanes of washington boulevard.

we do have a water main break that's brocking all but one westbound lane of liberty road right at mill ford mill road. fortunately no backups on 695 and if you are using the jfx to get into the city here's a look at all of that ongoing construction. one lane will be blocked in both directions at 28th street. some good news, the construction is actually ahead of schedule expected to be finished early this june. so good news as you can see. not much traffic out there just yet. now, as the morning does progress you will of course want to stick with charles street as your alternate r. just in, x news of the editor says she and her husband will face charges over the phone hacking scandal. she released a statement about 20 minutes ago that says she will be prosecuted over allegations of obstruction of justice. her husband faces similar

charges. a 24-year-old georgia woman is in the hospital right now fighting off a flesh eating bacteria. we told you about this yesterday morning. more on what's expected today as a community now joins in to hell ep out. a blood drive is planned for a young georgia woman who'sphyting a flesh eating disease. she fell from a homemade zip line. it happened on may 1st while she was out with friends. the cut came later and it was infected by a bacteria that almost killed her and forced doctors to amputate her leg, part of her abdomen and some of her fingers. she has to be reminded what happened to her when she wakes up. the medication she's on leads her to forget every time she falls asleep. folks have planned a blood drive today, anything to help her on the road to recovery. here's all new reaction from her father. >> we really don't see the

suffering side of it. we see the miraculous survival and that's really i think where -- i think that's the story that's inspired us. that's the story that's inspired i think the nation at this point. >> she is a master student of psychology at the university of west georgia. doctors call her recovery astonishing and mind boggling. new this morning a fire in hagerstown that killed a woman and her 3-year-old daughter was started when a burner on the kitchen stove was left on. her daughter hope died four days later. the death of the 3-year-old did give new hope to other families. her father decided to donate the young girl's organs to two young boys. defense secretary is scheduled to speak at the naval academy later on this month. it will be may 29th in annapolis. now, he was sworn in as defense secretary in july.

he also served as a director of the center intelligence azen si also known as the . news around the nation this morning, police in arizona have released the 911 calls made by the family. they say their 6-year-old daughter disappeared. the mother and father both spoke to police describeing what she looked like. hear her father tell the operator what happened that morning. >> do you think she was abducted? >> i have no idea. we went to get her up for her baseball game and she's gone. we've looked everywhere in the house and my oldest son noticed that her window was wide open and her screen was in the backyard. >> police has told the father that he cannot have contact with his two other children but they're not saying why. and two sets of homeowners had to be rescued from a swarm of bees. jason and general we are wilson

this week talking about the budget but today a group is

going to urge them to come back for a second session. at noon today leaders and members from a broad coalition of labor unions will talk about why they believe the maryland general assembly needs to return to decide on changes to the state's gaming laws. this includes a proposal to allow a casino to be built. that greater baltimore committee annual spring meeting so higher one youth chall baltimore employers to hire at least one job ready 16 to 21-year-old for the summer. with six weeks to go on june 25th, already 97 nongovernment employers have signed on to hire one of the 250 young people. this is four times the number that took part last year. well, the maryland university student who's graduating gets engaged at the exact same . >> the moment was captured on

little longer. they could be a little bit too young. that's my opinion. >> all i do is the weather so i'm nobody out here. we do have some rain coming down and it is moderate, especially as you slide into carol county. also frederick county we're look at wet weather and even baltimore county as of now. so getting in on the moderate action here. eldersburg, the interstates are wet. 83, also i-70, i-270. we're seeing a heavier batch of rain slicing across that area as of now. white oak. traveling to d.c. this morning you'll be in on some of that moderate rain and also to virginia dealing with moderate rain this morning. yesterday the showers weren't as heavy. today they'll be a little bit heavier. moisture content, lots of moisture in the air. so we are feeling humid outside. a little bit on the balmy side. we do have some patchy fog to talk about. only about 7 miles in baltimore and 4 in york and 6 in hagerstown. 2 in winchester. you'll want to have those low beams on as you venture out this morning. rain throughout the day and then we will be begin to see a little

bit of clearing as we go into thursday. so tomorrow, wednesday, looks pretty good as we go through the morning but we have another cold front that's going to slice through the area and that could be bringing us a chance for more showers before it's all said and done. thursday looks stellar if you like the dry weather. if you like the sunshine that's exactly what you're going to get. but for today, showers and possibly a thunderstorm with those warmer temperatures. that warm moist air could aid that that's for sure. this is game 2 of the new york yankees against the orioles. 73 degrees. showers and storms are possible. the winds out of the south at about 5 miles per hour. doesn't look like it's going to be a big issue in terms of the winds but we see improving conditions as bego into breakness. things look much better. temperatures close to 80 degrees. let's get a check now with the traffic with lauren. >> well, the rain is leading to a hectic commute. trouble on 95 where there's a crash right along the northbound

lanes at intersnat 195 and another accident on 195 right along the eastbound lanes of washington boulevard. the problems will persist. here's a live look at the beltway and we are dealing with an accident on touter loop just past 795 and you'll notice the congestion here at old court road so as we move over to the parkville area, much different story. no concerns. only a 9 minute ride on that outer loop up toward 93. and if you are using the jfx we are dealing with all that construction blocks both lanes. no significant backups but later in the morning you might want to stick with charles road as your alternate routes. each year thousands of people are hurt or killed in drunk driving related crashes. >> it remains a big problem on the road which is why the national transportation safety board wants to step up its game.

the national transportation safety board is holding a meeting today. it will provide the latest information on the scope of just how bad this problem is and any solutions out there. president bill republicanton and zorj bush are scheduled to host a benefit in d.c. today for the night 93 national memorial. flight 93 crashed in pennsylvania on a field back in september 11th. and l.a. galaxy and they are going to be guests of the white house reception today. the first lady michelle obama will be there on the let's move initiative. if you have kids you know taking them to the doctor to get their shots can be really unpleasant not only for them but also for you. >> you cried when you told me this story. >> very upsetting. >> a look at five ideas and tips, what you need to think about to make them a little less
