thunderstorms that popped up yesterday evening. they were severe in nature, for pg county, charles county and anne arundel county. maryland's most powerful radar not picking up on anything, those showers and thunderstorms pushing out of the area. as we go through the day, there may be a chance of more scattered showers to pop up in the afternoon, but this morning temperature wise we are mild, 64 degrees now in edgemere. hanover at 63 degrees and elkton at 65 degrees. we do have some patchy fog in place once again this morning, only six miles of reduced visibility in baltimore. let's get a check now of the traffic with lauren. how are the roads? reporter: as you mentioned, we are dealing with fog this morning, so do expect redud visibility. all is clear traveling through the harvard tum and the fort mchenry tunnel and 95, no delays through the white marsh area. you're looking at just a four-

minute ride southbound. nine-minute ride on the outer loop from 95 all the way up to 83. the west side going to be clear here at liberty road. 11 minutes to travel the outer loop from 795 down towards 95. that is a look at your abc 2 time saver traffic. charley, over to you. 4:32. a big day today in baltimore. a new archbishop will be installed in the oldest archdiocese in the nation. the insignificant nia of o'brien has been taken down, soob to be replaced by william lorie. megan has a preview of the day's events. reporter: yeah, charley, he is going to be baltimore's 16th archbishop. today william lore will be installed. a huge crowd is expected to be here, 2000 people who have tickets who will be here to witness it, including lorie's parents who are from kentucky. the official installation begins today, however, much of

the ceremonies began last night. we're going to show you some video of it, a mass at the basilica where lorie prayed at the too many of the first archbishop of baltimore. as you mentioned, this is the oldest archdiocese in the country. cardinal o'brien leaves tomorrow for his new position in rome. he'll formally hand over the oldest bishop cross in the united states to his successor. he introduced lorie to the ba sill basilica. >> it's with deep gratitude with our father that we welcome lorie to the archdiocese of baltimore. i've known arch bishop lorie for many years and has been impressed by so many have by his deep love for the church and the people and his extraordinary work as bishop of bridgeport and as a valued leader on behalf of the united states council of catholic bishops. reporter: we mentioned a huge crowd is expected here, 2000

people. that includes 400 priests, 80 bishops and four cardinals. if you do have tickets to this event, you can show up at 11:00. the ceremony, begin, -- again, begins at 2:00. back to you, charley. an attempt to show down a proposed tax increase has proven successful. the bill passed the state senate yesterday and appears almost certain to do the same in the house of delegates today. house democrats say the one passed during the regular session didn't do enough to preserve vital state services. coming up this morning at 5:00 you'll hear from the speaker of the house and his reaction to those votes. another big debate in annapolis had dog owners downtown protesting. the maryland court of appeals label on pit bulls is being inherently dangerous. casey madeira was at that rally representing her 2-year-old pit bull. she calls him her baby and says she shouldn't be able to force her to discriminate against a family member. owners say they're not only protesting against the high

court's ruling but in support of a bill that would change it. they're worried the ruling will lead to being forced on them possibly having to give up their pets. reporter: ever bit anybody? >> no. reporter: mauled anybody? >> nope. reporter: bad temperment? >> he will lick you to death. >> already the spca has been seeing an influx of calls, wondering if the shelter could take their dogs. the legislature may take up that matter in july. that's a special session scheduled to debate table games. 4:35 this morning and gop presidential hopeful mitt romney has added two more primary victories delegates, in both nebraska and oregon showed overwhelming support for romney, putting him well on his way to the needed 1,144 delegates. today romney will campaign in florida and president barack obama who appeared on "the view" yesterday will be in washington. he'll be presenting the medal of honor. a story still developing this morning we first broke for you last night. d.e.a. agents raided a building on york road at the beltway,

professional building. baltimore county police confirm their officers and the d.a. were there searching for warrants and serving for the healthy life medical group. people who work in that building had suspected that facility as being a pill mill because of the heavy traffic. out-of-state cars pull in, make a visit and hit the highway. coming up at 5:00 and 6:00 we'll have more on this developing story. two employees from the university of maryland baltimore county have either resigned or been dismissed after state auditor decided questionable use of corporate cards. the university says the it lacked control over those cards and says one employee had gift cards purchasing nearly $4,500. the case has been turned over to the attorney general's office. we are counting down now to the preakness, now just three days away and things are in full swing. linda stow talking to us a bit about what's going to happen today. linda, this is all a rampup as to what's to come on saturday. reporter: it sure is. in just a few areas, you can

. welcome back. this may look like part of the scenery, but it's not supposed to be there. a hole after a massive storm dropped eight to 10 inches of rain in texas. neighbors say it's growing by the hour and crews now plan to reconstruct the area once mother nature lets up with that rain. we had rain over the past couple of days for ourselves, lynette, hopefully we don't have anything like that. >> we won't be seeing anything like that for today. most of the nation is quiet right now, so that's good news for texas. as we slide closer to home, we have some rounds of some showers and some severe thunderstorms yesterday evening, but that's all basically pushing out of here. as we go through the remainder of today, though, there is a chance of maybe some scattered showers to pop up in the forecast and then things will begin to improve with dryer conditions. this morning these temperatures are quite mild. 65 in joppa, good morning to you. late get a check of abc 2 news time saver traffic with lauren. reporter: good morning, lynette. please keep that rain away.

possibly in the evening, but nothing of that deluge that we got yesterday morning at this time. so what we're dealing with this morning, the temperatures are on the mild side, 62 degrees now in easton and perry hall at 62 and we're seeing more of the same in terms of the humidity. so the 100% there, that means that we're saturated. we are dealing with some patchy fog as you head out and about today and also some other areas that we're looking at some patchy fog. you can see the percentage here, over into winchester, also fredrick and even dover and culpepper more of the same. so, again, be aware as you step out and about today. let's head back to charley. >> guys, thanks a lot. new information this morning in the trayvon martin murder investigation. new evidence regarding the extent of the admitted shooter, george zimmerman's injuries from that february night. abc 2 news' sherree johnson is here live with more. reporter: charley, for the first time a medical report exclusively obtained by abc news reveals the full extent of george zimmerman's injuries after the deadly confrontation with trayvon martin. the report revealed a broken

nose, two black eyes and gashes on the back of his head. this come from the doctor who treated zimmerman the morning after the shooting of martin. now, zimmerman claims martin attacked him that night and he only shot the unarmed 17-year- old because he feared for his own life as martin bashed his head into the concrete. now, the report also show ises zimmerman told his doctor he suffered from nausea when thinking about the shooting and he said it was imperative that zimmerman see a psychologist. an attorney for the martin family react today this news. >> what we do know is on february 26th the e.r. person there didn't believe his injuries were significant enough for him to go to the hospital. they didn't even put a band-aid on his head. let's not forget that trayvon martin was fighting a man with a 9-maritime gun. reporter: now,le zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. he's pleaded not guilty, saying he acted in self-defense. for more on this story, you can go to our wmar app for more

information. evidence has been made public in the murder case of cockiesville native yeardley love. pictures, videotaped interrogations, text and e- mails all were talked about in the court originally were made available yesterday. a jury found the former uva la crosse player's boyfriend george huguely guilty of her murder. a judge will sentence him in august. in baltimore county one day after police launched a task force to crack down on scrap metal thieves, two indicatensville men were arrested for doing just that. according to police the men were on the campus of the spring road hospital. the building had been shut down since 1974. police say one was on the ground level while the other tried escaping to the attic. speaking of those metal staffs, there appears to be good news coming from the crimes. a 16-year-old girl who heard about this story of a wheelchair ramp being stolen has now started fundraising to get the family a new one. lauren clam has started bake

sales, yard sales, whatever she can do to help. the ramp was used by two adult men with cerebral palsy. >> stealing first off is wrong, but especially something where it's obviously a need for that person. >> the ramp was taken last week days before police announced the region's first team of officers devoted to stopping metal thefts. we're going to keep you posted on how clem's fundraising efforts work out. happening today mayor stephanie rolins blake announcing a summer program for baltimore children. it's called the baltimore city super summer program designed to help education, recreation and employment for kids. it's a partnership between the mayor's youth cabinet and the city's public schools. the announcement will be at 10:30 this morning at brem's lane elementary school. speaking of the summer, you know it's important to lather on the sunscreen when you head outside. now the fda is trying to make it easier when choosing proper sunscreen to keep you protected. it's asking manufacturers to change their labels, making it easier to understand. that's due to come out in the next six months.

in the meantime, here's what you should look for, a broad spectrum of sunscreens that block against ultra vieolet a and b rays. make sure to use an spf of 15 or higher and reapply sunscreen that is waterproof or sweat proof because it can wear off as the day wears on, wheps you're out in the sun, lynette, because, by god, it can get get hot out there. >> you can get burned through the clouds as well. even on a cloudy day, make sure you slather up as well. my skin color, make sure you put on the sunscreen as well. a lot of darker skin tones think you can't get burned, but you can get burned. that's the tip for the day. we will see some sunshine moving in here, just like yesterday. that sun/cloud mix as we go throughout the day. also we'll be looking for scattered showers and storms popping up too. right now we are looking at temperatures that are on the mild side. we've basically been mild all week long, that's because we have the clouds hovering across the area. when we have the clouds, the

temperatures can't drop off because they're acting as a blanket. we see 60s across the board, we're a little bit on the balmy side once again. you can see the dewpoints coming in at 63 degrees. we're feeling the humidity out there a little bit. with the temperature and the dewpoint close together, well, we do have some visibility issues this morning and that is some patchy fog. so only about six miles in baltimore, five in fredrick, also york, three in hagerstown and also in winchester this morning. the slrd picking up on a little bit -- slrd picking up on a little bit of rain this morning. actually, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 10:00 last night for anne arundel county. all is well right now, nice and quiet. future trend basically picking up on that, but we are waiting for another cold front to traverse the area this afternoon and with that that could be the chance for the showers to pop up and maybe a thunderstorm as well. as we head into friday, saturday, things looking much better, though. plenty of sunshine in the forecast. this is what i'm going with

today, that temperature coming in right around 85 degrees. it's going to be humid outside and it's going to be a warm day as well. so if you like the cooler temperatures, they're coming back into the forecast or more seasonable i should say. late get a check of the traffic now with lauren. good morning. the fog a problem for you out there? reporter: yes. well, you do expect reduced visibility across the region. might be a good day to turn on the low beams when you head to work. if you are traveling on 95, no problems to talk about through white marsh. what this brand new traffic system does, it allows us to track how long it'll take you to drive from point a to point b. on the southbound lanes you're looking at a 14 minute ride from the beltway all the way to downtown baltimore. it also monitors traffic flow. right now through the tunnels we're in the green, meaning there is he's -- there's no real congestion to talk about. as it does pick up, it'll turn yellow and when it becomes heavy, it'll turn red. watch out for that. it allows us to zero in on the problems. if you're headed out to the jfx, we're, of course, dealing with all that construction.

the first-placed o's still tied with tampa, prepare today welcome in the kansas city royals at camden yard, first pitch 7:05. not before securing a split with the new york yankees last night. chin pitched seven innings and adam jones had a home run. and the o's took down c.c. sabathia, score 5-2. chin struck out four on the way to his fourth win, the first of baltimore over the yankees at the yard, first time at home this season. for the past eight months students in baltimore city have been working to improve their health and also get fit. today they're being rewarded with their efforts with an afternoon of fub. those kids have been tracking the progression through the recess baltimore program. they've been eating healthier foods, working on fitness goals and today they get to play, dance and have fun at du burns arena. if you don't have a program at school like the kids, it's sometimes easier to talk about developing a healthy lifestyle than actually doing it. experts say a good way to start is by keeping track of how much you're eating and also keep a diary of what's going on.

because they didn't have permission to be in the building. still, the kids don't think they deserve to be suspended at all. a florida school has a different problem, it has 25 possible valedictorians. of those students, a perfect 5.0 grade point average. a committee decide who gets to be valedictorian by selecting the best speech of the group. this isn't the first time the school had this problem. last year there were 11 kids to choose from. police in california say a milk tanker crashed into a barbed wire fence and avoided hitting a cow in the process. the truck got twisted up in the metal and it flipped upside down. all of it came to rest in the field. the barbed wire punctured the tanker, causing a river of milk to flow into that field. crews spent about four hours trying to rescue the driver. he was then airlift today a hospital with some serious injuries. time now to start the 5:00 hour. a massive break in an abc 2 investigation for you, on the scene when authorities took out the
