police. it's been a gorgeous day in the baltimore area. we're all holding out hope the weather will hold out. we have the running of the preakness stakes and wine in the woods. let's check in with meteorologist wyatt everhart. we've got it all, multiple things in maryland this weekend and it's looking good, real good weather wise the first half of the weekend. a few clouds blowing in, high thin included cover, no chance of those clouds producing rainfall, so that's great. temperatures hovering near 0. tomorrow we'll add another five degrees. so a warm preakness afternoon. the rest of the evening 70s with a few clouds. we'll talk about how things shape up and a look into sunday monday. >> the man with all the good news. 2011 was a record break year for maryland. the state hit a record for

boating accidents. don harrison was out on the water today to see what's being done to avoid a repeat in 2012. >> reporter: this why are's boat safety week will be more significant to the resources police than any before. maryland had a record number of both deaths last year, 24 directs in all, almost double the previous year. natural resources attributed that fact to good weather. >> last year our summer started, the beginning of may land didn't and until october. most of our weekends were dry and sunny and warm. with the increased amount of activities we saw encreamsed accidents and subsequently our fatalities within the up. >> reporter: being prepared and having all the safety equipment is the most important thing you can do before you go. he got a citation two days ago for not having a best on his kayak. he learned his lesson and now have one. >> you don't necessarily know

discovered, murdered as she drove home from her job in a nor by casino. >> reporter: police say drugs and money drove him to kill. those two drivers may have simply been at the wrong place at the wrong time. christmas came early in one town. the kmart in virginia was closing down and the business man asked what would happen to all the items. they said it would go to kmart power buyers, so he became one. he had items that he donated back to his community. >> there won't be any needy people cold this winter, i don't think oar not only did painter donate the items, he rented a building to hold them. remember the holding chads during the 2000 presidential

fryer. the roof gives way and one of those firefighters falls right through. >> he was up there trying to she hot spots. there was a weak fall. he did fall three or four feet into the rafters. he crawled out. he's fine. lucky for him. well, that firefighter was fine. two others received treatments for burns and exhaustion. in missouri police are looking for the fugitive who led them on a chase. the suspect drove off the highway, ditched his car and was able to make a clean getaway. take a look at this incredible video from north carolina. this guy has no feemplet a biologist attempts to move this 10-foot long gatestor and it turns on him. this clamps done on his upper arm for a second and lets g the -- g -- go. the biologist was able to get away. this was the scene at the

all right. a nice looking friday evening. show the good folks at home that we're looking at basically a few high thin clouds. on the hole a bright sunny day. as we take a look at the overall temperature, 73 not bad. the humidity around 35%. get a little a larky going on. a nice looking day. how about easton. actually kent island near easton. bright blue skies early on. then we have high thin clouds. we'll see a similar looking sky tomorrow for the preakness. we're talking a bright sunny scenario and maybe a few fair weather clouds. temperatures mid-70s. 60s at the beach as well as out toward deep creek. there are still some spots to find cool weather. winds are light from the

northeast. the little one is bringing in drier and cooler air. look at the humidity numbers. that's dry and comfortable. humidity creeps up. we may see avid cloud cover but in particular by sunday as the clouds continue to roll in out of the south and east courtesy of our coastal suburbs -- disturbance. this thing is crawling. it will spin off the cape hatteras area. that's where we'll see more cloud cover spin into maryland by late tomorrow night into early sunday. maybe we'll get showers by sunday evening and the early part of next week. in the meantime high pressure in control keeps the rain chances down to zero. here's a look at the trend that disturbance not moving much. we're clear for our preakness saturday. however, as we go through the second half of the weekend, it
