develop coming up. >> thanks a lot. the nation's oldest civil rights group has puts it support behind same-sex marriage. at a news conference this morning the naacp put its weight behind the issue. roosevelt leftwich joins us with more. >> reporter: the group's leadership says this is an issue of civil rights and equal protection under the law. by denying same sex couples the right to mary, they're being denied rights under the law. many black churches, which in the past have been big supporters of the naacp have taken an adamant stand against same-sex marriage. he said he spoke to clergymen. the board said lot vote was unanimous, this was not without discussion and dissent but they said it's an issue of rights not

morals. >> we have already stood against laws which demeanor discriminate against any person in this great country. that is our legacy. >> reporter: the group says it does not think that there will be a backlash against them from religious leaders. they said by taking this stand they're in the trying to influence legislation or states who are discussing this but they want people to understand the need to speak up for equal protection under the law. we'll hear from folks who are not happy with the naacp's decision. a 45-year-old man was killed last night when his motorcycle crashed in wood bine. he was on route 99 when his motorcycle left the road and crashed into a sign post. he was take on it howard county general hospital. officials said based on preliminary investigations, they believe that speed was a factor

look at manchester getting walloped. it's still rather cloudy and damp. still some rain on the camera lens. the closest rain is down in the area west, toward frederick and hagerstown. you can see what's sparking that, the warm front pushing up. it's allowing skies to clear over the bay, but ahead of this front to the west carroll county, frederick county, western howard county still some rain as this front continues to slowly edge its way to the west. you can see the difference. winds west, southwest under the front. so it's a true shift. here in maryland we're on the frontal lines so often. 50 miles can make a huge difference in terms of the weather you're seeing. humidity 100% in frederick. drier air coming in from the south as well but also as the temperatures warm up, relative humidity dropping. visibility is lower to the northland west. we still have the rain and fog

out toward hagerstown. yes, we've got a dry spot over the bay and more weather offshore. that will influence us as we go overnight, still an unsettled pattern, unsettled weather west. we have low pressure right over virginia with the front trying to push up and we've got alberto down over the carolinas. for now you can see the trend shows hit and miss showers lingering into tuesday and also as we get from tuesday into wednesday. more hit and miss showers will be possible. perhaps wednesday much of this will be south of us. speaking of south of us, tropical storm alberto continuing to spiral off the coast of south carolina. a weak tropical storm. the last statement from the national hurricane center talks about how alberto is bearly maintaining tropical storm strength. we'll keep an eye on it. tonight 62, cloudy and showers. tomorrow 79. we'll push 80. some parts of the state will go
