died. >> it's called ptsd, that's post trough mat test stress. >> reporter: he did three tours in vet na. he got out of the service in 1972. he spent the next 32 years lost in addiction. the program is a full recovery program for homeless veterans. it provide as place to stay. clifford said the pas -- past two years have helped. >> a lot of things i couldn't lay just to i wouldn't listen. i was selfish and i dealt with them problems on my own. you know what i mean? got very good counselors in here, case workers, and they work with you each day. >> reporter: on any given night there are veterans sleeping on the streets. studies show that veterans who

got counseling do better at adjusting to civilian life but it has to come within the first three to five years. with thousands of iraq and afghanistan veterans coming home, the need for services is clear. >> we counted at least 500 veterans on a given night without a place to stay. the department of housing recently released 75 veteran vouchers. there's a terrible imbalance. when veterans don't get the support they needed they join the ranks of others. veterans who are homeless can get off the street. they help dozens get their lives back. clifford is hoping to reconnect with those. the veterans administration has been providing housing and even skills training but there are

home from a friend's house. a violent memorial day weekend in chicago. more than 33 people were shot saturday. six people were killed. a former chicago police superintendent said they're up 67 homicides from a year ago. a girl was playing outside when she was caught in a drive-by shooting. the good news is she is expected to be okay. a pregnant woman is kidnapped, set on fire, shot and left for dead. police say the woman was nine months pregnant, had just pulled into the garage with her ex-boy. the two got out and the garage door closed suddenly. the suspect duct taped her feet, her hands and her mowsmght then drove her around in the car for about 10 minutes before stopping in an alley in detroit. she felt liquid poured on her in the back seat and heard a match

ab emergency landing in san diego. two men in a single engine cessna were flying a banner in the air when it crashed. they were able to get out of the plane safely and out of the water with some good samaritans. the plane had a mechanical failure. a huge celebration for a milestone. fireworks lit up the sky over san francisco and marked the

that is the total moisture. we rarely get more than 76, 77 on the most humid days of summer. we're right there. as a result, this is what it feels like. we make 90 or 95 feel like 100. all right. take a look at overall pattern. not much happening locally. a couple of showers into west virginia. the east coast is quiet. pretty good. however, this hot pattern will hold up for another day or two before we get a cold front and all eyes on tropical depression beryl. it's down over north florida and georgia. the trend for tomorrow, we tabling a cold -- may have a cold front. that is tropical depression beryl expected to come back over the duffel stream waters,

if you hit the roads for the memorial day weekend, you may have noticed that the pain in -- at the pump is on the decline here gas prices have been moving lower. they most likely will move lower than where they are now but not by much. what happens after memorial day, refineries switch to a summer blend of gas. still, with the national average for a gal of gas -- gallon of gas, it is lower than where we were a year ago. why are we seeing ago mag lower-- gas prices lower? tensions with iran have eased. they had threatened to close the strait of hormuz. also, oil and gas supplies are at their highest level sense 199
