yesterday. so for today still some wet weather hanging out there, but check out what we have in mount airy. the proof is in the pudding with the rain there, so we had about .70 inch of rainfall. some good rain, and then behind that we did see that beautiful rainbow. fredrick temperature coming in right around 66 degrees right now, 68 in annapolis, and we also got some good rains in annapolis about two -- about quarter inch of rain, rather, and fredrick coming in about .30 inch of rain in fredrick and also that temperature coming in right around 66 degrees. let's look at the radar right now because maryland's most powerful radar showing just a few scattered showers across the area. that will happen as we go through the remainder of today. not a whole bunch of downpours and i'm not going to rule out the fact that we could be seeing some more isolated showers as we go into the afternoon. what you need to do is grab the rain gear with you as you head out the door. we'll talk more about that coming up. but now let's get a check of abc 2 time saver traffic with lauren. some slick roadways to talk

about but no accidents happening yet, right? >>reporter: no accidents just yet, but you do want to reduce your speed, be extra careful as you do head out. if you are using the jfx to get into the city, 11-minute ride from the beltway downtown to east fayette street. everything will remain up to speed traveling through the fort mchenry tunnel and the harvard tunnel. if you are headed out to the northeast corridor of 95, here's a look at white marsh. only a four-minute ride to the beltway. no delays to talk about in this vicinity. a live look at the beltway and parkville and hartford road. a nine-minute ride from 95 towards 83. no concerns on the west side of the beltway, an lech-minute ride on the outer loop from 795 down towards 95 that. is a look at your abc 2 news time saver traffic. over to you. some say it's going to save lives by keeping fire stations open. we're talking about putting advertisements on the sides of fire trucks. the issue is now going before city leaders and now it's time to make a decision before those firehouses close up shop.

abc 2 news' sharree johnson is live this morning outside of downtown fire headquarters with more details on this. sharee, what's this all about? >>reporter: well, supporters actually hope that putting ads on the side of baltimore city fire trucks might prevent the closure of three fire companies in baltimore city. now, yesterday many supporters, dozens of them gathered at the city hall chambers yesterday to fight for this. they want to keep those fire companies open. now, at this point the measure is not a bill. it's a resolution calling on baltimore city to allow advertisements to be placed on fire trucks. councilman pete well ch made the proposal in response to a plan to permanently close three fire companies around the city. this includes truck 10 in west baltimore and squad 11 in southeast baltimore. a spokesperson for baltimore mayor stephanie rawlings blake says a proposal to add advertisements to city-owned buildings like parking garages and even schools is very close to becoming a reality. >> we've got to figure out how to right size the department so the city can afford the fire

department and that's what we're doing. >>reporter: now, the three fire companies would actually close when the next fiscal year starts and that's on july 1st. right now some are saying there's just not enough time to bring in this money to prevent the closures. reporting live in downtown baltimore, sharree johnson, abc 2 news. a family in hartford county lost their home to a fire, now the community is rallying, helping them out once again. this happened in the 2400 block of dixie lane early yesterday morning in forest hills. the family all got out safely, but the home was a total loss. investigators are still looking for the cause. meanwhile, a friend said you can drop off items to the bel aire volunteer fire department. that family needs everything from clothes to new furniture. news time 5:33 right now. a judge ordered the man convicted of conspiracy for the 2010robo calls aimed at keeping black voters from going to the polls to pay the state more than $1 million. the damages are for violations of telephone consumer protection. julius henson, his company universal electronics, inc.

and an employee who recorded the calls must pay those damages. henson was convict inside the robo calls case earlier this month and scheduled to be sentenced on june 13th. the man charged with hitting and killing a talson university student in ocean city will be back in court in july. police say 30-year-old diego franchini was speeding when he hit matt henry on coastal highway. he was arrested after witnesses chased down his car. news around the nation this morning, a couple accused of keeping two boys with autism caged inside a bedroom have been found not guilty of unlawful imprisonment. john eckert and his girlfriend were acquitted by a jury in vancouver, washington. the 5 and 7-year-old boys respectively are eckert's sons. prosecutors say the children were put in a small room with a metal cage door for convenience. however, the defense argued it was for their protection. blue grass music legend doc watson has passed away.

>> the guitarist had been on the music scene since the 1960s, receiving the national medal of arts and multiple grammy awards for his work. watson was blinded by an eye infection as a baby, but he never let that slow him down. the 89-year-old had been struggling to recover from recent colon surgery. certainly does pay to provide good service. >> it absolutely does. a man waiting tables in texas got a huge tip from some long- time customers. greg rubar had received an envelope with $5,000 in it. now, he has worked at the italian restaurant for 16 years and says one couple has been coming there for a very long time, about eight years. rubar recently had ruined his car. it happened during a flood and mention td to the couple, but he never expected what happened next. >> then they just came in and they gave me money to buy a

welcome back. a child's toy soldier turns into a disney vacation for a fallen soldier's family. >> back in february, 9-year-old brendan horrific want today trade for a trip to disney world, he said he would do anything. he started with a toy soldier and from there he got trays and they got bigger and better with the new york growing nationwide until brendan met his goals. tickets to disney world, including airfare, but he didn't keep it for himself. he held a drawing and the family of a fallen soldier won that trip. the family that won lived just a few towns over from brendan. timothy steele was killed last august in afghanistan when he was just 25 years old. >> tim was pretty special to us. yeah. he knew what he wanted to do at a very young age. >> little people can do a lot of things if they put their mind to it. >> now steele's wife and her 2- year-old daughter are headed to disney world, all thanks to that 9-year-old boy and his toy

clinched the republican nomination, attention is being given not on his win, but on what trump is saying. he is once again alleging president obama was not born in the u.s., this more than a year after the president released his hawaii birth certificate. trump spoke at a fundraiser for romney last night. some republicans fear trump's claim threatens to undercut the seriousness of romney's campaign. they also worry it opens romney up to attacks, he's not willing to stand up to members of his own party. when asked about trump and his birther claim, romney only had this to say. i don't agree with all the people who support me, i guess they don't agree with everything i believe in. >>reporter: now the white house says the trump birther issue is "nonsense." linda stow, abc 2 news. you may not remember the computer virus, but it caused a lot of problems a couple years ago, even causing danger at a iranian uranium enrichment plant, now a new virus has been

uncovered. the company says the virus can be used to turn infected computers into spying machines. they say infected computers can get information out of nearby cell phones. starting today pepsi plans to offer free downloadable songs on its twitter page. it also is offering streaming live video of summer concerts. no announcement yet on which artists are lined up for those concerts. it's all part of pepsi's live for now campaign which is using music to revive the brand's image to help win back the market share from coca-cola. if you're looking to buying a new home, you might consider heading west. a new list has been released of the top affordable cities to buy a house. indianapolis has the number one slot with the median home price around 102000. one expert says the fact that the city has a lot of land available for housing development is helping keep those places down. dayton, ohio and lakeland, ohio, they came in second and third respectively.

whole lot in dundalk as of now. we can see plenty of cloud cover across the area there. that will be the scenario, it's going to be a while for those clouds to really move out of the area. more of the same in bel aire, a little bit of brightening skies, but for the most part we are looking at some cloud cover and some wet roadways. right now temperatures are mild this morning. we're trying to get that cooler air filtering in. it's going to take its sweet time to do that. we see temperatures at 70 degrees right now in chestertown, and talking about the rain we've already seen today, just a few hundredths of rainfall cross the area and that will be the lower amounts we see as we go throughout the morning. lots of moisture to contend with once again. we want to get to the 50s we're seeing in hagerstown. that number will slowly go down into the afternoon as well. future trend not picking up on a whole lot, still a chance for showers to work their way in here. by tomorrow that's going to be our really dry day and our really sunny day. then we do have another cold front that's going to move through the area friday night. and with that we will have the
