street everything up to speed it will be a very easy ride through the harbor tunnel as well as the fort mchenry tunnel. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. megan and charlie, back to you. the man has been denied bail after police say he murdered then dismembered a man. >> sherrie johnson has the latest on this investigation. she joins us here in the studio with more. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, authorities are still trying to piece together more information but we have new information for you this morning. we've learned that 21-year-old alexander kinyua has been charged with first degree murder. this is in connection with body parts found in a home in the 500 block of terrapin terrace in joppa. sheriff's connects have a -- detectives have a strong belief and while they cannot positively identify the body they have a strong suspicion it's kujoe bonsafo agyei-kodie. he's been missing since friday and was last seen at his home on terrapin terrace. deputies found body parking

lots in the home once they -- parts in the home once they entered it with a search warrant. we should have more information later today when charging documents are expected to be made available to the public. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. police in howard county are looking for burglars who struck almost a dozen businesses in east columbia. we're told surveillance video shows people in hoodies and gloves smashing windows and crawling across the floor then stealing cash from the registers without setting off any of the alarms. this is the third such robbery in the past year for one of the businesses on dobbin center way. >> this is the third time it's happening and we are -- the last time about three, four months ago. the drawers were ripped off and thrown in the trash. >> damages from the previous burglary cost around $14,000 to repair and burglars also they hit businesses on dobbin road, oakland mills road and snowden river parkway. an important news this morning if you own a pit bull.

senate president mike miller and house speaker michael bush have talked with the november forabout setting up a task force to study the impact the court made calling pit bulls quote inherently dangerous. the miller and bush have said lawmakers may consider legislation to bar the state from labeling any breed of a dog as inher they're also looking to bring this up there at the special session which is happening in july. all right, fireworks during a meeting at the state house in annapolis. now a lawmaker loses his cool and his rant certainly caught the attention of his colleagues, this happened in illinois, not annapolis. nonetheless, listen. >> power in one person's hand. not the american way. >> come out here the last second -- i got to try to figure out how to vote for my people. >> that's mike bost. he was upset about a new plan to overhaul the state pension

6:38. thank you for joining us this morning. when wal-mart wants to build a new store, neighbors often worry about the values of their homes dropping. >> turns out new research from wal-mart stores may actually be helping home prices, two economists studied more than 600,000 housing transactions and near 159 alamort stores, homes located within a mile or half mile of the stores saw the prices of the home values rise by 2% to 3% in two and a half years after the new store was built. here's some good news this morning. it's costing you less to fill up. gas prices continue to fall. what drivers are paying in several cities according to aaa in baltimore regular unleaded averaging about $3.352 a

johnson has new details about a maryland marine killed in afghanistan. linda so live this morning with the latest on the search for a murder suspect. lauren cook has your abc2 timesaver traffic. and of course we start things off with meteorologist lynette charles. how's it looking out there lynette? >> not bad at all. plenty of sunshine in some spots but we have some patchy fog. temperatures this morning where they are on the mild side. 65 in churchville and also ocean city. 67 in glen oak. you can see that humidity it is going to go down in some spots but ocean city still hanging tough. let me show you what i'm talking about if you don't believe me this morning. yes, you can see the beach but not so much of the water out there. and that's going to be the name of the game through the remainder of the morning. and will slowly begin to burn off and you can see along the eastern shore only about three miles of visibility in easton. talbot definitely has a delay this morning. things will improve across the area but trying the get up to the 10s we're seeing else where. a beautiful day on tap get out

now a family in edge water is preparing the say good-bye to a son. >> sergeant chase was a marine in afghanistan and he was killed on memorial day. his father obviously devastated this morning. and abc2 news sherrie johnson has more. >> reporter: that's right a lot to say and this morning he spoke exclusively to abc2 news, tom came just a few days -- chase just a few days ago remembered the troops and now the sorrow doesn't end. 22-year-old sergeant julian chase of edge washington nationalser was on a combat -- edge water was on a combat mission in afghanistan when he was killed on memorial day. he joined the marines in 2008. his four years would have been up in september then he planned to attend george washington university. sergeant chase was carrying a 25 to 30-pound machine gun with about 400 rounds of am ewe mission when he was killed. he also has thoughts abs troops

serving in afghanistan. >> high time that we gracefully and honorably left afghanistan. i think the job has been done. those men and women were dying for their country should not be forgotten. >> reporter: now some of sergeant chase's unit plan to visit the family this summer to pay their respects in person. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. funeral arrangements set now for matthew cheswick. he was hit and killed in ocean city on memorial day. cheswick whose parents say they worked for the post pavilion and also attended towson will be remembered at the harry h. whiskey's family funeral home in ellicott city from 2:00 do 4:00 and then 6:00 to 8:00. there will be a big burial saturday in poplar springs at st. michael. diogo facchini he's the man suspected of killing cheswick. he's in jail right now on his bail it's all been revoked. it's 6:47 right now. and now to the latest on car

fire in essex that led fleece launch a murder investigation. -- police to law enforcement a murder investigation. abc2 news linda so is live with the very latest on the search for the suspect. linda? >> reporter: megan we talked to county dispatch this morning. we have new information on the victim as well. we've learned friends of darrell augustus will hold a vigil for him tonight in towson. it's who police are looking for he's 32-year-old lennell ellis. on saturday ellis went to the home of a woman he had been in a relationship with. and found augustus there. the apartment is on dun haven place in carney. a fight broke out and ellis stabbed augustus in the leg and he bled to death. ellis drove the body to a remote area in essex and set the pickup truck on fire. back at the apartment neighbors knew something just wasn't right when they saw all the blood. there will be vigil tonight at 7:00 in the church parking lot

behind the immaculate conception in towson. call baltimore county police or crime stoppers at 18667 lock up. we're live at county police headquarters, linda so, abc2 news. we have new information this morning about the shootings in seattle yesterday. a fifth victim and the suspect died late last night. four victims were shot at a cafe and another in a carjacking before the suspect shot himself. he had been identified by seattle publications. his brother told the publication he identified ian in pictures and that he had been mentally ill. the death toll from those shootings brings the number of homicides so far this year to 21. matching the total from all of last year. well, truck crashed into a bar pinning customers inside. the accident all of it caught on video. officials say a 51-year-old woman had a severe medical season and lost control -- condition and lost control of

the truck and three people were pinned up against the bar. a worker used a big rig to help pull the truck away from the customers. >> there are days they didn't know -- they were dazed. they didn't know what happened. my fiancee went up to the di who was pinned at the bar. >> six people were taken to the hospital and two are reported right now to be in serious condition. that is incredible. ten minutes away from 7:00. a warning to parents if you have a toddler. there are some items you may not have thought would be a danger that you need to start thinking about. maybe keeping stashed away where the child. the mouthwash, facial cleansers and perfumes are in a safe place and always lock up the pills even vitamins. >> lots of pills can look just like candy. the big offender is iron pills which look like m&ms, kids can swallow a lot. >> doctors also suggest keeping

audit that highlights concerns about how it monitors slot machine gambling. the agency says it has either addressed the problems cited in the audit or is in the process of doing so. now the autodit was released yesterday and it noted the lottery's information system network supporting various gaming systems was noted a qualitily secured against -- adequately secured against threats. the president will be at the hyatt regency downtown on tuesday, juan 12th. there will be a reception at 1:15 this afternoon. it will run you about $250 to get into the event and $1,000 you can be an event sponsor. five things to know before you head it the door this morning. several members of the house are gathering today to show support for a quick withdrawal of u.s. troops from afghanistan. a lieutenant colonel will also speak today about the situation there. >> well today is world no tobacco day. it was a day started by the world health organization raising awareness about the risks that come with tobacco use. this year, the group says it will focus on the tobacco

windshields and damaged roofs. wow. that's some serious video that we're looking at there. but you know what? this is something again today they're going to be dealing with. some more showers and thunderstorms across this area. this will begin to trek eastward and then we'll get in on some of the severe weather possibly as we head into tomorrow afternoon. and evening. but for today, satellite and radar picking up on lots of sunshine right now. that's going to be the name of the game get out there and enjoy it because chesapeake beach is looking awesome this morning. a bowl sunrise. chesapeake beach in calvert county and into laurel and we're looking at plenty of sunshine there. just a few clouds streaming through the area but we are going to be having lots of sunshine as we go through time. now visibility is a bit of an issue along the eastern shore. it is reduced only about three miles in easton. and we're looking at zero in salisbury right now. and we have lot of fog around ocean city. now we're looking at the fact that high pressure is going to build in throughout the day. that is going to keep the clouds away for the most part.

this cold front slicing through the area. then we have another cold front that's going to move in. that's the one that's going to be the one that brings us the severe weather as we go into the afternoon and evening tomorrow and future trend picking up on that or maybe around 2:00 tomorrow. your commute home is going to be on the dicey ride. that lingers into saturday morning. possibly the rain and then it gets out of here during the day. 84-degrees is what i'm going with for today. nice and pleasant and then we stay nice and cool into time. now a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren. good morning. good morning lynette. well an accident is causing heavy delays on 95 and it's right along the southbound lanes at eastern avenue. speeds clocking in at 39 miles per hour route now jammed all the way back to white marsh boulevard. another crash in dundalk right on wise avenue at lynch road. if you are headed out to the beltway do expect heavy congestion here's a live look in parkville at harford road. that outer loop really slow that continues up to charles street. the west side of the beltway also starting to pick up here

at liberty road do expect a slow ride on the outer loop as you make the drive down ed monoson avenue. this wisconsin man's joyride ended with him handcuffed. riding on the tractor in the streets of jackson. the man even motioned for the police officer to go around him. police say the blood alcohol level this is not a huge shock was actually more than twice the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle and by the way a lawn mower does count as that. he didn't think he couldn't drive a lawn mower in the street. you know that you've had too much to drink if you're motionings to go around you. >> is he trying to watch -- >> my question is why would you want to get -- you know what i mean? like -- >> he's taking the time to park in a proper space. >> oh my gosh. >> he's courteous. >> he doesn't seem very bright. >> that's absolutely pathetic. >> take it down. >> oh my gosh.
