. now,abc 2news at 5:30. >> getting you up to the minute. a morgan state student accused of killing his roommate and eating his heart and part of his brain. student disappeared last friday but his roommate became a suspect when his brother found what he thought were human remains in the family basement. detectives searched and found body parts there and also in a nearby dumpster. right now baltimore county police are questioning a man seen holding a gun near the campus of unbc.

they got the call from a student who said's man she knew showed her a hand gun. police blocked off the area and searched. they found the gun but not the gunman right away. they are talking to him now but haven't arrested or charges him tonight. this man is in jail accused of taking pictures of young boys using the bathroom. brian williams took video and pictures of 11 children hughes the rest room at the maryland house and chesapeake house. a witness called police after seeing him take a picture of a young boy. they are now looking for other victims and witnesses. the man wanted in connection with a murder in parkville turned himself in. investigators say he killed darryl augustus inside an

apartment. he then drove it to essex and set it on fire. it's believed it was -- this is the wrong video -- this is the young man who was killed in ocean city. today they gathered to remember the student. he was hit and killed by a suspected hit and run driver. the mass and burial will about held tomorrow. the man suspected in the crash is in jail after having his bail revoked. he is scheduled to appear in court on july 5th. new, tonight. deciding how much soda is to much. new york city's mayor is pushing to ban big sugar are you drinks, it's his newest attempt to get a handle on the obesity rate.

reaction from both sides of this proposal. >> reporter: yeah. people are fired up. if the mayor has his way sugary drinks bigger than 16-ounce, this size would be ill legal for sale. the joy of buying a way to big, i can't finish this drink could be a thing of the past if the new york mayor gets his wait a minute he wants to ban soft drinks bigger than 16-ounce sold at places like delis restaurants, even theaters. it's his latest weapon in the fight against obesitn and it's on the heels of another decision, the fda shot down a petition to rename high fructose just corn sugar. the agency said the fda is already spent millions promoting the first name and a change would consume people and could pose a health ring to anyone with allergies. >> it's never a good thing it.

official time 4:49 a.m. central time. >> reporter: the blurry images show it on its way to splash down in the pacific ocean about six hours later. it was a historic mission, one that marked a major turning point for nasa. it was the first private cargo ship to reach the space station. it carried up roughly 1200 pounds of food and supplies and it's coming back to earth with about 1400 pounds of old space station equip comment samples. it's a dream of a billion area who made his fortune with the internet company pay pal. he is one of the handful of private business people aiming for the stars. >> more like it's the dawn of a new era. . >> reporter: the agency turned to private businesses to take over the routine runs. it paid space x $400 million to two launches. >> they now are going to be mainly responsible for building and operates and we will buy

. it's a typical day at a neighborhood bar in minnesota until this happened. a truck slams through -- there we go. slams through the wall and into the bar. a camera captures all the chaos that follows. the owner's son used a bobcat from the parking lot to help free some of the people pinned against the bar. at least five were taken to the hospital. it would have the customers were seriously hurt. the driver suffered some sort of medical condition moments before the crash happened. a man in trouble for driving a lawn mower while drunk. an officer saw him on the road in jackson. the police dash camera video

shows him motions for the cruiser to just go around him. the officer followed him into a walgreens parking lot. a breath test showed he had a blood alcohol level of two times the legal limit. he said he had no idea that he couldn't drive a lawn mower on the street this is his 4th drunk driving charge. how you like your popcorn? check out these flames at uncle mark's popcorn warehouse in kentucky. the flames could be seen for miles and is expected to be smoky for days. apparently people living nearby had to be evacuated. according to investigators children set a small fire behind the factory and it spread. not such a good idea. we will be right back.

during the summer tend to spend more time on the roadways. a new study finds a promising trend when it comes to teens and crashes but there is still more work to be done. >> reporter: as school lets out teens have more time to drive or learn how. the good news the chansons site for highway safety said the number of teen drivers in deadly accidents has decreased. >> dramatic reduction in teen f atal crash rates and we think the biggest factor is safe driving laws. >> reporter: new research finds more than 500 additional lives could be saved in almost ten thousand collisions averted if all states strengthened teen licensing laws by adopting five standards that would make teens wait longer to get their licenses and place restrictions on new drivers including a

massachusetts. this is really quite the event because there were supporters from both sides of the aisle there. set against the backdrop of the massachusetts state house, the white house revealed a fresh round of attacks on it's november opponent. >> under the governor the state was 47th in job creation, 4th from the bottom. romney economics didn't work then and won't work now. >> reporter: the news conference coincide was a new add from the obama campaign calling on friendly voices inside the state. >> romney was not an effective leader in massachusetts and the proof is in the pudding. >> i worked only under republican governors and worked well with all of the others. >> reporter: romney was quick to hit back. >> the president fails to understand the basic nature of free enterprise in america. >> reporter: he brought reporters to the closed

the president has a 2% lead over romney. we move to the next state to colorado, all of the sudden that lead goes down to 1% for the president and then finally we will end in iowa. both candidates at 44%. we talk about key swing states, considering them you go back eight years the president won all three, four years later become won them all, those are the swing states. >> all in the margin of error. thank you. no also a key part of the law banning federal recognition of same sex marriage has been struck down as unconstitutional by a united states appeals court. the defense of marriage act defines marriage as union between a man and woman. at issue whether the government can deny tax, health and pensions to same sex couples in states where they can legally marry. the court said the law
