and no one was seriously hurt. also syria a serious situation going on there. opposition activists are reporting that about 78 people were killed in a farmington accident that happened -- farming town in hamas province. we were told the victims were mostly women and children and that is the latest mass killing likely to ignite more anger in that country. a 15-year-old girl from allegany county is dead after police say she tried to cross the coastal highway in ocean city. a group of friends were trying to cross the crete on tuesday night and three of the four made it across safely. no walk sillal though in the need -- signal though in the median and they ran the rest of the way. the driver of the car was a 17- year-old boy and booster county -- from worcester county and he was released without being charged. >> it's just tough words to get out but you have to talk about matthew in the past tense now. >> those are the words of chris cheswick who lost his son matt. he was struck and killed by a

moment but right now look at the temperatures because yes, we're still a little bit below especially in towson coming in around 50 degrees. but this 59 degrees that you're seeing in sparrows point that's where we should be now for this time of the year. good morning westminster at 57 degrees. 56 degrees for' yamsville. churchville 58 degrees there and 56 joppa and 61 right now in rock hall. 55 degrees in galena and also northeast. we look at maryland's most powerful radar as of now, we can see that we are dry all five sweeps are on. and we should stay that way through the morning hours. now into the afternoon, that's when we'll have the chance for a few pop-up scattered storms in nature and don't think we're going to have a washout into the afternoon. some people might not even get wet at all. i'll talk more about that and that warm up coming up but right now a check now of the abc2 timesaver traffic with lauren cook. good morning lauren. good morning lynette. if you are using the jfx to get into the city no delays to talk about. from the beltway all the way downtown to east fayette street and everything will remain up

today to discuss placing advertisements on fire trucks in baltimore city. supporters say they would help keep three fire companies from closing, the meeting is at 2:00 at city hall. florida a&m's president wants to end hazing and this morning the president will roll out a new plan before board of trustees. it results from a hazing related death of a band member champion. and president barack obama will travel to las vegas today and expected to visit the university of nevada las vegas to address students about student loans and interest rates set to double in july if congress doesn't act soon. the transportation department now working very hard to educate the public seri by diss tractioned driving. today in washington the agency plans to announce a national initiative. and jared loughner's stay in a medical facility in missouri ends today. he has a hearing set for later this month regarding his mental capacity to stand trial for the january 2011 shooting that killed six and wounded 13 others including gabrielle

giffords. time now for a check tonette and traffic. -- on the weather and traffic. yesterday a. plus. i can't say that for the traffic situation especially around maryland live casino. in the evening it was a mess. >> the weather was great. >> i know i looked at the live cameras last night and i couldn't believe it. 295 was just so jammed right at route 32. i'm sure the people in that neighborhood aren't too pleased. >> actually we're going to have more on that later this morning about what they are saying about the casino opening up. >> traffic the morning a lot better. no problems to report on 95. it will be a very easy ride from white marsh into the city. the beltway also going to be clear from parkville up to towson and the west side. no delays whatsoever from 795 down to interstate 70. now the tunnels are also clear but that could very well change this summer. today state transportation officials are holding a news conference to talk about a major construction project on 895 that will begin on june 30th. crews are replacing concrete decking and one lane of traffic just southbound of the harbor tunnel toll plaza and expected

to be finished by october. but drivers really need to expect heavy delays while the construction is underway. and in the meantime you will want to use the key bridge or the fort mchenry tunnel and more on the construction tonight on abc2 news at 5:00. as for the weather yesterday things were a little bit warmer no winds like we had on tuesday and that made all the difference. >> i missed you megan because they were giving me a hard time yesterday. >> no, no. >> oh my goodness. >> giving lynette a hard time? >> it was not me. >> what was that? >> nothing. >> did you just walk me up to the bus and pull me under? >> i did not. >> i love it. >> i was kinder and gentler yesterday and i delivered. >> again i'm going to deliver the hot weather that you guys want to see into the weekend. we will be seeing some 90s today though no 90s whatsoever. temperatures in the mid 50s this morning. this is coming in a little bit below but you know what? we are getting used to the temperatures on the cool side

in the mornings. 55s in columbia and also catonsville and centreville around 56. once again a day where we don't see too much wind out there charlie but we look at maryland's most powerful radar as of now, and we are nice and dry all five sweeps are on and it should stay that way through the reminder of the morning. more details coming up. 15 minutes from 5:00 this morning and happening today a news conference is being held on the fbi's investigation into apparent leak with the u.s. cyber attacks that happened on iran. now the classified information was detailed in a recent report in the "new york times" and senator diane feinstein of the senate intelligence company does not believe that the information came from the white house. >> other things are books that are written. people that live their life, serving in an intelligence capacity that then get and write a book and release all kinds of things. >> feinstein is calling for a series of senate hearings to look into the leaks. new york city police removed several items from the

home of pedro hernandez. he's accused of murdering 6- year-old etan patz more than three decades ago. he is charged with second degree murder. his next court appearance is scheduled to be for june 25th. a rally is happening today in baltimore for that proposed increase for the beverage container tax. they are gathering to voice their concerns about the hike. they said the tax increase on things like soda or juice would force grocers to cut workers instead of raising prices. it begins this morning at 9:45 at city hall. more information this morning about a man accused of killing a student and cannibalizing him. another student came forward claiming that kinyua nearly killed him. the lawyer for joshua caesar says he suffered several injuries during an alleged beating by kinyua. he beat him with a baseball bat that was covered with barbed wire he says. >> alex proceeded to drag josh who was completely out cold,

bleeding profusely, drags him down the hall, puts him in a room. closes the door, pulls out a knife and is ready to cut into him. and as we know, from what he did to the next victim a couple days later, was probably going to cut into him and start eating his organs. >> caesar's lawyer says morgan state could have done more to prevent kinyua's actions, he plans to file a civil lawsuit and that will happen sometime next week. around the nation this morning, a texas woman is badly burned but alive thanks to some quick thinking passer-by even a tv crew who saw the smoke and they were part of the rescue efforts. reporter jenna hiller has that story. >> reporter: you can hear sirens in the distance. this good samaritan saw smoke from highway 90 just like we did. and drove to the 300 block of scotty to check it out. he was the first person at the house. and he called 911. a cable man who happened to be on the streets a helped and his

-- to help and emergency responders approached and neighbors came outside. >> it's fire going on and i ran out of the house and i saw her there. >> reporter: only one woman lives in the home. she made it outside and collapsed at the front of the house. >> she was laying there and they tried to carry her. >> reporter: our photographer helped lift the woman and move her away from the smoke that was spilling out of her home. she suffered third degree burns to both hands and her hair had been singed. ems rushed her to the hospital. firefighters quickly put out the flames which start in the back bedroom. they weren't able to determine a cause and have called in arson to investigate. a ride that was supposed o celebrate an engagement instead ended with three people going to the hospital. authorities in indiana say that the balloon came in contact with some power lines on wednesday night causing it to crash. they say that the pilot was shocked by the electricity and fell into the bride to be and

her -- basically shocked her. now everyone was treated for burns but they are expected to be okay. our pets are family members no doubt about it. you can ask a couple in phoenix because they are willing to shell out $3,000 to get their parrot back. zaney the parrot has been missing for five days and they have passed out posters and even a tape recorder and now they are offering $3,000 for anyone who returns her. >> i love that bird in fact. right now lynette charles has a check of the forecast. things warming up a little bit? >> yes, things are warming up a little bit after a couple of cool days, you can do the forecast today charlie. we are cool this morning and we should be at 59 degrees but we're getting used to that. 58 degrees right now in york and 58 d.c. and it's not as cool as it has been so you know we have to say that. and it's 57 degrees right now in hagerstown. we look at the satellite and radar right now. not a whole lot to look at this morning. we do have some clouds that are trying to stream in from the north and west. and with that we will have that sun cloud mix as we head throughout the day.

but we're not looking at any type of rain, nowhere in the vicinity so that will continue through the morning and by the afternoon there's a possibility for a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. we also do have a coastal flood advisory for the areas here basically in the blue color. and our viewing area really not in that. you can see calvert county and also pg county looking at coastal flood advisories and once again in effect until 2:00 p.m. for today. dealing with the on shore wind and also we have high pressure that will begin to build in here as we go through time. so with that, we're going to be seeing plenty of sunshine especially by tomorrow. we won't have any type of rain chances in the forecast. we think see this stalled out front -- we can see the stalled out front down to the south. again, as we go into the afternoon, a few scattered showers, thunderstorms, are possible. now future trend picking up on some better times ahead if you don't like the rain but before then we can see possibly some rain pushing in here into the evening time frame. maybe just in time for your

commute home. it could be a little bit on the wet side but ample sunshine friday and also saturday. plan accordingly. for today that temperature coming in around 80 degrees. we have the sun cloud mix once again. tonight's temperature at 58 degrees nice and seasonable for the most part. and here's what we're looking at into tomorrow. 84 degrees, partly cloudy and we will begin to see that warmup process. and then by the weekend, the latter part of the weekend we're looking at 90s that will continue even as we head into monday. but still, plenty of sunshine on saturday and sunday. make sure you get out there and you enjoy it. now i got one ovines in the studio right now. so let's go ahead and send this over to lauren cook. how's the after the doing? -- traffic doing? unfortunately the morning commute will be nice and calm using 95 in the white marsh area. no delays to talk about into the city. it's going to take you 14 minutes from the beltway all the way do town town baltimore. and here's a live look at what the beltway looks like in the parkville area and harford road. everything up to speed.
