shelter before their grandmother gets off to drive them to washington, d.c. this is a story that inspired teachers they glen burnie school to act. and those teachers are spending their night taking action. tonight, at mother down in federal hill in south charles street, abc 2, tonight as well. what's it look like right now? >> we have some good news. since our story aired at 5:30, story here has been ringing off the hook. one person actually caught and offered a house. one teacher is here to raise money not only for the one family that brian keebler profiled at 5:00, there's six others. there's total of seven homeless families. you're looking at some of the items donated from teachers as well as the community. they are hoping to raffle and

raise enough money for the kids so the kids know where with they are going home at night. katie is a teacher at woodside. what are you doing to try to connect one person who has a house with the family. >> and they said, they are willing to give our family a house, even pay the first month's rent, which is awesome. hoping tonight, we can raise enough money to help them with their rent for the upcoming months and money that they need for clothing or gas or food. >> four kids who shifted to your school and back home to dc. he's called the grandmother, is that right? >> their mother was incarcerated. their grandmother decided to take care of them. we decided to find out about the whole situation. we realized we're leaving our school at 2:30, and would wait

until 8:00 at night waiting for their grandmother. we pulled it together and decided to do something. >> you're doing something tonight. how is the money raised here going to affect all the families at woodside, with homeless children? >> we're going to have an account at woodside to help them with any sort of rent they may need, any sort of food. one of my kids, they didn't have clotheses. some of the teachers pitched and helped us with outfits they needed to wear. food pantry at our school, backpack buddies, backpack full of food. >> thank you so much. here it is. summer break and teachers never take a break. that benefit will happen until 6:00 to 9:00 tonight. again, we're at mothers at federal hill. $10 when they come out the door. that gives you some free food and happy hour dripping
