it was a beautiful day across baltimore. we are tracking a storm. a party near auburn universitiment a man pulled out a gun and killed three people and injured several others. this is called swatting. you are not going to believe this thought process. we are on the south where two auburn football players have been shot to death and a current player is in the hospital with a gunshot wound. right now a man hunt is underway for a 22-year-old accused of being the shooter. we have more from the auburn campus in alabama. >> reporter: gunman opened fire

near auburn university. >> we are frying fry -- trying to get away. >> reporter: bullets hit six people. three died including two former auburn football players. >> the only connection is the auburn football team has to this is they are victims of a brutal shooting. sometimes young men get a bad rap but they are the victims today. >> reporter: alleged gunman is on the loose and charged with capital murder. >> we are on an active man hunt in alabama with auburn police department searching for him today. >> reporter: he lives in auburn but is not a university student. police are looking for two other persons of interest. if you were caught in the

backup on the parkway last night, police say the crash was no accident. a pickup truck may have intentionally struck a ca . after the pickup hit a car it overturned and rolled in the northbound lane where it struck another car. five people went to the hospital. driver of the truck was thrown and taken to shock trauma in serious condition. along with the driver of the car. three other people were transported to hospitals. 7-11 was held up this morning by two masked men. last time it was hit store cameras helped capture the robbers. two store employees were inside at the time. suspects came in and opened the registers and took unknown amount of money police are looking for two 18 year olds wearing dark clothing, black ski mask, gloves and carrying

an automatic handgun. who will be the next commissioner of the baltimore city police department. we'll find out august 1st. day-to-day operations have been turned over to deputy commissioner anthony marksdale. a 31-year-old man died from falling from a tree he was trimming near belair yesterday. the ogden man was trimming trees when he fell 45 feet. he was taken to shock trauma where he later died. some of you are being asked to limit the amount of water you use. ann arundel county officials are asking people to limit water use because of a watermain break. you are asked to hold back on water use until midnight

around birmingham. copious amount of rain. this storm system will advance north. we are forecasting heavy rain. we'll let you know when and how much rain coming up. opening statements begin tomorrow for the trail of the former penn state coach jerry sandusky. we are taking a look at how the case developed in the last six months. >> reporter: his arrest november 5, 2011 stunned those who knew jerry sandusky as a line coach and a man committed to helping young boys with a charity organization he founded, second mile. prosecutors say he used that organization to find his victims luring them in with gifts, sleepovers and trips to football games to gain their trust. >> this is a case of a sexual predator accused of using his position of the community and

the university to prey on young boys for a decade. >> reporter: sandusky's alleged crimes were detailed in a 23 page grand jury report that says he sexually assaulted eight boys over 14 months. and he raped one boy in a shower at penn state. several days after he is arrest he gave a controversial interview to nbc. >> are you sexually attracted to young boys? >> sexually attracted? no, i enjoy young people. i love to be around them. but, no, i'm not sexually attracted to young boys. >> his attorney sat down with cnn and hinted at he is defense strategy. >> do you believe him? >> i do. i do. jerry sandusky is a big overgrown kid. he is a jock. for everybody who ever played

sports you get showers after you work out. when people hear he got showers with kids, they thought that makes him guilty. >> september 7th sandusky was arrested again for alleging ten boys. sandusky facing 52 counts of sexual abuse. his attorney failed numerous attempts to have the trial delayed. tom cline says the facts are clear. >> part of the strength of the claim here has stacked up. it is the fact you have similar-type incidents among youngsters who were segregated out and preyed upon. >> reporter: on monday a jury of five men and seven women, majority of whom have ties to penn state, will begin to hear evidence that will ultimately decide sandusky's fate.

>> one juror is a senior at penn state who works inside the athletic department. another is a long time professor. third works in the engineering department at the university. another juror has a connection with mike medicare clear cleary's father. the jury sandusky trial spurred on several investigations surrounding penn state. u.s. attorney's office issued a subpoena looking for computer records and other information. the department of education is looking into whether the university violated a law that requires crime to be reported. these are a few investigations underway. we'll follow all the developments and let you know what happens. summer games for the states most gifted athletes are wrapping up.

special olympics of maryland hosted 1400 athletes in towsend university. they competed in ve sports. athletes started training three months ago working three times a week to advance in the games. >> it is like opening day at orioles park. it is that excitement that comes every year. >> athletes come from all 24 counties in maryland. they are as young as 8. some are still competing in their upper 60s. calls to 9-1-1 describing terrifying events, things you don't want to imagine in real life. >> i shot my wife. >> but what if you found out this was all a prank? coming up on abc 2 news the

>> i thought i was going to die when they came in my room. >> reporter: the fbi is cracking down. one of the most high profile is a hacker from massachusetts. 19 at the time of he is arrest. is serving 11 years in federal president for swatting, including the colorado springs case. >> some of the motivation for swatting is revenge to victims or ego bragging rights. >> reporter: they are worried a homeowner or police officer would wind up dead. >> they are doing it to get someone killed. >> that's crazy. in rest this weekend for investigators who are trying to find the source of a deadly e. coli outbreak that spread from the southeast to california. 14 cases confirmed in half a dozen states. those exposed in april or may. if it was a fresh product that

daytime highs. that's not the case. bwi marshall temperatures at 6:00 91 degrees. humidity level down at 36%. we'll call it dry. southwesterly wind will bring in the moisture that's sitting south. that was 90 degrees. georgetown, dover not much of a sea breeze cooling things down towards the east. towards the west frederick is one of the warmer spots. they are 90 degrees. dew point values around 60 is bearable. anything over 60 is uncomfortable. we find that south. this is pushing in for the overnight going into tomorrow. more in the way of humidity. that will trigger showers and thunderstorms. heat index, combination between temperature and dew points feeling like it is in 90s across the area are better towards dover. hour-by-hour 8:00 84 degrees. a warm temperature towards the rest of the evening.
