gerritsville -- jarrettsville pike. it's not that we just have the rain coming down but reduced visibility. it's tough to see. we got a healthy downpour. bel air, perriman, elkton. significant rain coming down and quite a bit on the eastern shore reaching down into the easton area. so drive with added caution. perry hall, sykesville. we will get some clearing from the west. we talk about how the rest of the week looks coming up. president obama spent the day in our state campaigning and raising money for his reelection bid. the president met with donors. traffic from reisterstown road to 83 brought along some traffic nightmares.

we have an update on the traffic. rosie? >> reporter: i'll tell you what, take a look for yourself. you have a combination of rain a combination of rush hour a combination of folks coming downtown for the orioles game. usually by rush hour things have evened out but there's still heavy traffic. all the roads are back open it. cause lad lot of nightmares. let's take a look at the video. when the president's visit closed off south charles street going north and it also closed off light street going south. so what you had were two of the main streets to get out of 95 and conway. both were closed off. what happened was you had people trying a way to get around. there was heavy traffic on pratt

street, lombard street. so a lot of people were just trying to figure out a way to g one of the things for right now, too, you're getting traffic coming in from the orioles game. you have a lot of people coming in from downtown baltimore. things are starting to pick back up finally from all the road closures. once again, it remains to be seen how soon it will get out of here. roosevelt leftwich. >> we're going to go back to that picture we showed you at the top. you seat tractor-trailer. it's blocking the trailer, 83 warren road. all the traffic is snarled. if you're trying to head north on 83, watch yourself because we had ashland and paper mill road a band accident, so be very careful. we'll keep monitoring this. trying to go 83, your best bet

containment. they worked to get this done within a matter of a few hours. >> you are right. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. it will take time to determine due to the large building and unsafe conditions inside. three fire companies have actively participated. they will no longer exist a few weeks from today. since the rotating closures begarntion union leaders have said stretching the department thin could put citizens and firefighters at risk. firefighters counter that. their fire stations will still have firefighting apparatus. now they'll have more resources to handle other duties. >> one of the things that most of our population don't know, we do emergency medical services. >> even with the rotation they

have less than seven-minute response times, which is less than the standard. along with the rotating fire company closures, three have been identified as permanent closures. abc2's hayward harped went -- don harrison went to one that will be affected. >> reporter: yesterday's five-alarm fire was a reminder how valuable the fire and rescue are to the city of baltimore. budget cuts forced dramatic measures. rotating closures now and permanent closures set to take place soon. >> we continue as most businesses and fire organizations are, doing more with less. >> reporter: truck 10 in west baltimore and truck 15 in east baltimore are going away in a little more than two weeks. at eastern avenue, it's a rescue

truck. it has about two weeks of life left in it. after that, july 1st, it goes out of service. >> they are a rescue squad. after the fire yesterday, they definitely still need it. >> reporter: debbie scott works right next door. she can't understand why the funds aren't there for the fire stations. >> they say they don't have the money for it, but i feel like they do. there's money somewhere. the higher ups keep getting more and more money. >> reporter: quad 11 covers 85 and 895. they are equipped with the jaws of life. although that will not be available after july 1st, some residents think the city should leave the fire companies alone. >> i don't think they should cut that at all. it's too important for the safety of the citizens of

maryland. >> they are needed. if they were need years ago, they're still needed. >> in east baltimore, don harrison. >> so squad 11 goes away, the equipment will go with it but the personnel will be relocated. there will be a meeting with council man jim craft. christian schaffer will be there, too and will have a full report. all right. let's go to anne arundel county. a 13 and a 15-year-old face charges after trying to detonate a bottle bomb. it happened at sunset elementary. the intended victim was a 6-year-old little girl. lucky, she was not injured but it does raise concerns about the so-called bottle bombs. they are a combination of

chemicals and it's capped. when this goes off, it could cause serious injury. >> in some instances, depending on the chemicals that are mixed, they can explode and cause traumatic injury and burns that will lead to a life-threatening event. >> a 6-year-old was not injured but fire officials said the bottle bombs could be dangerous. this is all right sixth bottle bomb they have seen. >> police are trying to find out who killed jen el ballogan. if you saw anything suspicious the night of june the 9th are early -- or earlly -- early june

>> i did know it was a different feeling that i had never had before. >> reporter: like many patients, barbara was put through high tech testing like this. today doctors have access to tests. >> the part that often gets ignored is the simple stuff. >> reporter: turns out it was the simple stuff that saved barbara's life. she also took an exercise stress test. while high tech imaging didn't show problems with the heart, the results of this heart did. >> we found very significant disease. subsequently it required another one placed just recently. >> reporter: she says this cheap and easy test will do everything from preventing blockages to catching other things. she said patients should ask important questions. >> what are we doing it for.

in wilmington. temperatures mid-70s. tomorrow we're not low 80s. downtown will be warmer, beautiful shot. the focus of the sailabration going into the weekend. and rain over the entire region right now. even though we may get brief clearing, there's a secondary line of showers that could impact the game. perhaps we could get it started or get most of the game. drier air is knocking on the door. this will be welcome, less humid. coming in tomorrow, we may have showers in the mornings especially on delmarva. most of the state will be dry quickly and partly cloudy into thursday. overnight 64, clearing, late rain showers. tomorrow 82 with some sunshine, less humid, looking good a shower east. tomorrow 59, partly cloudy and the seven-day forecast, you see the trend is for great weather
