there she is. we begin this thursday morning with breaking news right now out of anne arundel county. word just after 1:30 this morning of a crash involving a wrong way driver and right now one person is dead. this along i-97 in millersville and abc2 news sherrie johnson is live with all new detail this is morning. >> reporter: we are here in anne arundel county. about a mile away from the crash site. the cash happened about 1:30 this morning. and it happened at the intersection of i-97 and ben field road. and yes, maryland state police tell us that one of the drivers may have been going in the wrong direction. of course, authorities are still on the scene at this hour, you know trying to figure out exactly what happened here this morning. but they said it was a hyundai and a honda and one of them might have been going the wrong way and crashed into the other one. one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. the other one they took him to shock trauma. he's in pretty bad shape this morning.

right now the northbound and southbound lanes had to be closed for medevac but the southbound lane on i-97 is open right now and troopers tell me that they hope to have the northbound lane open within the hour. right now they are still investigating trying to figure out what happened. cleaning up debris but they hope to have the northbound lane of i-97 back open within the hour. and of course we will keep you updated on that and right now i'd like to turn it over to my colleague, lauren cook with a look at more traffic. lauren? thank you. as you mentioned there's a serious crash in anne arundel county right in millersville that continues to shut down the northbound lanes of interstate 97 that's going to be right near route 3. now the crash happened right around 1:30 this morning. two coarse involved. police -- cars involved. police confirmed that one person died and another person medevaced to shock trauma with serious life-threatening injuries. traffic is being diverted on to route 32 and you can always use route 2 as the alternate route. as far as the other main lines

are concerned here's a live look at 83 and northern baltimore county. no delays to talk about here at swan road. a nice calm road down to 695 and once you get on to 695 right now no delays to talk about. just an 11 minute ride on the outer loop from 95 all the way up to 83. the west side also clear 11 minutes from 795 down towards 95 and if you are using 95 just eight minutes from the fort mchenry tunnel to the beltway. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. now here's lynette charles with the forecast. good morning. good morning lauren and check out the headlines for today. we are looking at a tranquil thursday, nice and quiet. we are dry right now with some clouds hovering across the area. mild and comfortable though with a northerly prez out there. maryland's most powerful radar is dry right now. and we are scanning the coys not picking up on a whole lot. a few more clouds in our direction through the afternoon. i'm going to detail that later but check out what you have this morning as you step out the door.

good morning millersville at 67 degrees. 59 in reisterstown and sykesville 62 degrees. the winds are light for right now. but they will be picking up just like we saw yesterday especially more into the afternoon time frame. those details are come up and right now back over to charlie. news time now 4:34. the festivities are underway for the star-spangled sailabration and a slew of thing going on today and into the weekend and that's where we find abc2's megan pringle with a preview of the event and how you can catch a glimpse of history. >> reporter: we're here at rash field which has been dubbed th adventure zone. it is what this is all about. all commemorating the war of 1812. this is going to be on area for kids they can come and have some activities after they're done touring all the ships. now tall ships from around the world have docked here in baltimore's inner harbor for the sailabration. again to commemorate the war of 1812. now between the inner harbor,

fort mchenry. about 20,000 people are expected to take part in the activities that last up until june 19th. yesterday, some of the tall ships arrived in the inner harbor and people were hopping on board to get a look at some from places like brazil, all over the world. now, businesses are expecting big crowds. parking is of course something that a lot of people worry about when they come down here any day of the week but all the lots say they can acomet date you but i -- accommodate you but they do recommend you come early. now even the guy is ready selling all the star-spangle swag. >> it sounds like people are excited about the event. we have the hats and t-shirts and hats and we've got even a little cab for them. >> reporter: okay, so if you're wondering what's going on, here's a look at some the bigger sailabrations events. today harbor place is going to

be busy at 10:30. that should be fun especially if you're a music enthusiast. and the night, the paws for the pledge at fort mchenry. more music and patriotic celebration. that starts another 6:30. over the weekend, saturday and sunday the blue angels are going to take part in an air show that starts at 1:00. we do want to tell you all the events are free but do remember especially going to fort mchenry, parking there is an issue. there are buses going if in and out of there but plan ahead and go early. so something to keep in mind, remember the adventure zone is always open. if you have kids you can bring them here. it's going to be a great time. and stay with us throughout the morning because we're going to go down to the inner harbor closer to the tall ships the take a look at them. meanwhile another celebration in washington, d.c. today. honoring the army's 237th birthday. a life-sized tank made of cupcakes will be presented and we're told that it shoots cupcakes from the cannon. that event kicks off at 10:00

this morning. news time now 4:36. today the columbia woman charged with 69 counts of animal cruelty will appear in court. a motion hearing is scheduled for elizabeth lindeno. 40 dead animals were found in her home in january and officials say she once worked with animals as part of her job. act half of the -- about half of the animals were found in the house in a freezer. washington county officials have confirmed extension of spousal benefits now for county employees married in same sex couples. it will take place in july and follows a state civil rights complaint filed in new york in march. they filed it on behalf of a specific employee. that employee was married in washington in 2010. well, some nasty weather loaves a big mess across parts of texas. we're going take a look at that damage in a bit including golf ball sized hail all part of the big spring storms.

news time now 4:40 and those living in dallas, texas suffered quite a beating wednesday. cars and homes battered by receive voir hail. windshields shattered and some cars seriously damaged. the hail in some areas was the size of golf balls. there was damage reports filed throughout the city and so far no reports though of gyres. we didn't -- injuries.

thursday. lieutenant governor brown welcomed the ship captains who sailed into the inner harbor for the sailabration today. and the university of baltimore law school has a new dean. watch is going to be taking over as the head of the school. he's leaving the department of justice where he was an assistant attorney general. he also served as chief counsel for the senate majority leader harry reid. well, students at the light school in baltimore are beginning a 24 hour lacrosse game this morning. they're raising money for the wounded warrior project helping u.s. soldiers. that game starts at 9:00 and going to be at that school. today is the final day of the ravens' mini camp and quarterback flacco will most likely not be there and all for a good reason. he's a new dad. the ravens tweeted flacco was called away yesterday because his wife went into labor. today is world blood donor day to raise awareness about the importance of giving blood. this year the focus is recognizing the heroes who

as we look at temperatures in edgewater coming in at 67 degrees, these temperatures are still above average and we should be at 63, 61 degrees now for this time of the year. 64 in catonsville and jefferson coming in right around 60. the winds will pick up once again i say out of the northeast. as we go through time and at about 5 to 15 miles an hour. not as gusty as yesterday but still on the breezy side. charlie? school is out for the summer but the city is trying the maintain some rules. mayor raw littles blake said to be mindful of the curfew laws. children after 17 are not allowed out after midnight on the weekends and after 11:00 p.m. on the weeknights without adult supervision. >> we will not tolerate unsupervised juveniles out late at night in any part of baltimore. it will be enacted this point for the young people and their families. >> the city departments receive

a credit card her freshman year of college and found out her id had been stolen when she was 9. they ran up a $1.5 million debt against her name. >> i can't even describe it. we had no idea. they took loans out on boats and houses. and -- everything. >> well, experts say that criminals hack on to home computers looking for fax tomorrows with kids' social security numbers attached. it can happen through school computers and here's the advice. check the kid's credit periodically even if they're not old enough to walk starting very young. ten passengers are suing jet blue because of a flight in march when the pilot was physically restrained after screaming about relidge i don't imagine and terrorism. they claim the airline was negligent in allowing osbon to fly the aircraft. the two filed in a new york courthouse also said the airlines should have known that osbon was unfit to be a pilot for the plane.

back across hagerstown and also york we're looking at 54- degrees in winchester there and 61 in culpeper. still this cool -- or unseasonably cool air will begin to filter in across the area for today. also, we're looking at some breezy conditions right now. those winds basically out of the north and east at about 8 miles an hour in baltimore. more of the same in easton. d.c. coming in at 10. now these winds could turn around to the east as we go into time due to the low pressure that's off into the atlantic as of now. but we still sew some clouds coming in this morning. it's not like we're socked in. just a few clouds out there. now, here we go we have this area of low pressure that's out into the atlantic. this is that storm that moved through on tuesday basically it's pretty much like stalled out and hasn't moved in. with that we will have some clouds that could be kicked back in here into the afternoon. that will be giving us some more on shore flow and easterly flow and we have the chance for more clouds than we saw yesterday. future trend picking up on the fact that though we have the clouds but then through time,
