charley youson joins us live. >> reporter: hey, good morning. as you requested yesterday, you showed one of the crews exercising. the crew members this ship from indonesia are getting their morning workout in up bright and early at 4:30 getting rade for the full days of activities coming up more salllabration. they will get ready for a day's work on board the ship with free tours starting at 11 this morning. the naval ships those tours begin at one. that is great family friendly event getting ready for a wonderful weekend remembering one of the forgotten wars of american history the war of 1812. now, throughout the day we have ships from brazil, continue to, and columbia mexico and domestically coming in for tours. but i want to introduce you to darren we came here and dwight joins us you said this is the best time to come out in the

seeing from that. abc will have a special that begins tonight at 8:00 this evening with full coverage of wallenda's daring stunt. stephanie rawlings-blake will be in orlando florida this morning for the 80th conference of u.s. mayors. she is going to be speaking today starting at 9 in the morning the conference continues through saturday. rawlings-blake will speak about the growth and change in the city particularly about gun violence and the vacant to values program. rawlings-blake is a member of the u.s. conference of mayors board of trustees. this morning's crime checker. police are investigating after a randallstown teen died following a run in with an off- duty police officer. 17-year-old christopher brown was an athlete at rapiddalstown high school and on wednesday an off-duty baltimore county officer says he heard a loud noise at his front door. he checked it out and began chasing a group of teens. brown was hiding in bushes nearby and he and the officer got into a fight and police will only say at some point

during the fight brown became unconscious and later died. brown's mother says he was a good kid with no criminal record and she wants justice for her son. >> i just wanted to lay my eyes on him and to see if there was any bruises you know what i mean because doipt want them to cover stuff up i don't want them to push this under the carpet. >> the chief medical examiner says brown died from asphyxiation. stay with us at 5 this morning for a full report. we will hear more from christopher brown's mother and the investigation. so stay with us this morning. in other news, 6 people are in jail after atf agents busted what they believed to be an armed robbery operation. the bust happened in hampden on thursday afternoon. officials say an investigation has been underway for about 3 weeks. and they had information that the suspects were meeting today. planning another robbery when the agents moved in four suspects took off in a car. officials say the men were

heading towards two of the agents when one of the agents shot the driver. six firearms and one bulletproof vest were found in the car. police in harford county say a man threatened a group of children and adults with his machete e is still in jail -- he is still in jail this morning. he got -- douglas taylor got angry and came out of his home swinging a machete. he is on parole and they say for a 1994 murder conviction. he is charged with several counts of assault. in the market for a new car? if you are you could be in luck. we will hear about research from the website kelly blue book what they released and why this may be the best time to buy. and more severe weather in parts of texas and no this is not snow. we will have new video this morning on a downpour of hail in that part of the country. lauren. >> reporter: well, everything is up to speed here on 695 at route 295. i will show you what 83 and 95

now "good morning maryland" at 4:30. thanks for joining us. look at this video. we have more video out of dallas, texas. that area was pounded wednesday night with hail and you can see from this video on the verge of baseball sized hail that could pass for snow at a first glance. it's pretty severe weather but here yesterday, lynette, gorgeous. >> it was gorgeous here yesterday. we will do it all over again. but as we look across the middle of the nation, still dealing with some strong storms. severe going throughout the day across the plains and also the midwest will begin to work the way off toward the east. but we are not going to get in on any of that. we have plenty of clear skies

right now. that will translate into lots of sunshine as we go into the afternoon. more sunshine than what we got yesterday. but right now, temperatures are on the coomer side. 55 degrees now in towson. let's check the megan and laurenover to you guys. >> we want to tell you about a traffic alert this morning that could affect your morning commute or rather your commute home friday and that's today beginning at 7 this evening. bge and maryland state highway administration are closing the ramp from the northbound area of 695 to westbound security boulevard for two weekends. it is in an effort to basically fix up the pavement on that ramp repair a major gas line underneath the ramp. so it's going to be a big deal if you are traveling around the area this weekend. for the weekend you can expect delays or close yours from 7 tonight until 5 a.m. monday morning. for a lot of people that's a good thing to know if you are traveling in that area. >> reporter: you were stuck in it. >> i called and i am stuck on

the beltway. >> reporter: but that ramp will be shut down for the next two weeks ends and there's he detour in place. and we have -- there's going to be a deduring in place and we have the -- detour in place and we will have information on the website. a road closure this morning starting at 6:00 sallabration will shut down fort avenue between andre street and entrance to the fort mchenry tunnel. we have more information on where to park if you are heading to the festivities on our website. here's a live look in howard county at interstate 70. no problems to talk about whatsoever here at columbia pike. it will be be a very easy ride towards the beltway. and as we pull up drive times using the jfx into the city 11 minutes southbound from the beltway to east fayette street. no problems from 795 toward 95. that stretch is going to take you 11 minutes and you are looking at an 11-minute cried traveling from 95 up towards

more hours of a 24-hour lacrosse event all in honor of the wounded warriors program. they are clocking in the final hours with the participants so education reporter sherrie johnson joins us live this morning. are we going see you play? >> reporter: you know i don't know. we will have to see. the guys are tired and have been playing for a long time. so, maybe if i can get a quick lesson in, we might see that. we will have to see. let me tell you, i am at the boys latin school of maryland and i got to tell you i never seen this many people out at 4:30 in the morning. i could tell you this place is packed with folks. there's already a game that's still going on right now. this is all a part of shootout for soldiers. it's a 24 hour lacrosse game with the money going to support the wounded warrior project and the effort to aide wound soldiers. it's a first year for this convenient is and we are talking about everyone from rec teams to club teams and major league lacrosse players, college players are all in this

tournament. it only takes about a $ 20 donation to the wounded warrior project to get on the field a high school searion who -- senior who graduated tiller -- tyler is a member of the group act achieving change together. and this morning i have liam joining me a junior who is also been out on the field playing as well. he's member of act. good morning thanks for taking a break and talking to us. tell us about why you decided to have this 24-hour lacrosse event. >> well, you know, we looked into it and saw the guys out there fighting for our freedom and wanted to giving back and say thank you. and it's a great event and everyone is having a great time. >> reporter: it looks like it a lot of comradery. 24 hours of lacrosse, wow. what do you say about that? >> yeah. it's been awesome. been here from the start and it's awesome a lot of guys

young guys, old and had to take a nap but it's been awesome, yeah. it's been a lot of fun. >> reporter: so if someone wants to donate or help out how can they donate money. >> go to our website and there's a donation page and go there and your credit card number and donation of how much you want and you are good. >> reporter: all right. thanks so much for joining us. all right and this wraps up this morning at 9 a.m. again, the proceeds go to the wounded warrior project. reporting live in north baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. it's been a year since two teens were truck and killed along martin luther king boulevard and dozens of family members and friends gathered last night at the intersection of mlk and prat street to remember emerald smith and courtney angeles. the one year anniversary of their death and police say 29- year-old reuben dunn was driving a car when he hit the girls but switched place was his girlfriend kendra miles who was -- myles who was passenger.

she pled guilty to being an accessory after the fact and testified in court against dunn. still the jury determined that there was reasonable doubt. >> to see everybody here, it's so overwhelming and makes me cry of happiness that these girls were loved. >> courtney angeles mother says she and her attorney right now are working on a wrongful death suit. all right. around the nation this morning, documents regarding joe paterno will have been opened. now the documents were released by the family include his 7 page will and material that didn't state how much paterno or his estate were worth. he left his personal property to his wife sue and established a trust for the remainder of his estate. he died of cancer in january. he was 85 years old. in the meantime, the case against former assistant coach yeary sandusky will not pick up again until monday.

so far, 8 of the alleged accusers have testified the last three were before a jury on thursday. some with very emotional testimony speaking of graphic unwanted sexual advances by jerry sandusky. sandusky's defense team will ask if the alleged victims were coming forward for money. the defense will ask witnesses that on monday. time for a check on the weather. lynette, it was gorgeous yesterday. and hopefully with the weekend we can keep that going. >> we are going to keep it going. it's going to be fabulous for today. and right now temperatures coming in at 63 in baltimore. that's where we should be for this time of the year. i am calling it seasonable. 59 in york and 66 in hagerstown and long the eastern shore. easton at 57 degrees and we are going to keep the pattern up as we go throughout the day. so make sure to get out and enjoy. now we do have a coastal flood warning that is in effect until 8 and being see it for the area shaded in the blue. so anne arundel county as we look at harford county and also southern baltimore county, we

city, no delays from the beltway all the way downtown to east fayette street and as we check in and look live at the south side of 95, just north of the beltway, notice no delays to talk about whatsoever. it will be nice and clear if you are heading southbound towards 495 and north up towards the tunnels. pulling up a shot in the southwest corner of the beltway no concerns at the bw parkway and this is 95. but as we check in and take a look at the beltway that is in great shape. no delays and you are heading out on that outer loop. you are look at an 11 minute trip from 95 all the way up to 83. the west side also going to be clear just 11 minutes to travel from 795 down towards 95 and if you headed out on 95, just an 8- minute trip from the beltway to the fort mchenry tunnel. that's look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. megan over to you. >> thanks so much. coming up this morning, your kids may be breaking the bank. new research tellous how much you -- tells you
