6:30. ships new and old are in port celebrating the 200th anniversary of the war of 1812. there's so much for you and your family to do. we sent charley crowson down there. look at you up on a ship. >> reporter: we are up on the ship on the pride of baltimore 2 this morning. and awho i to ahoy to you and the captain of the ship. >> good morning. >> reporter: explain because by size this doesn't like overly large especially compared to the ship over there how many crewmen are on board and asleep? >> we have 12 on board right now. >> reporter: we are keeping them awake? >> i don't know. they slept through sailing i was 24 hour thing and things are happening on deck. so, there's a ability to knock -- tune that out. >> reporter: take us through this because this ship is a living breathing thing. so many ropes and tools that's the hold going down into the

crew's sleeping quarter, but so much going on. you said it's 24 a hour day job. >> when you sailing or caring for the vessel, the other day we were in hampton virginia and had a tornado go through so we have to a protect the vessel from that. meanwhile, at sea, you are always dealing with the changing weather. so you take turns monitoring the ship and you got the need to care whenever opportunity occurs there's subloyal weather for cosmetic maintenance and general maintenance and, of course, you are entertaining and teaching and telling the story and history. >> reporter: you talk about the history and caring for the ship during the time of severe weather. that's actually the genesis of what brought about the pride of boughtmore 2 because of what happened with the pride of baltimore. >> yeah. there's always a chance that weather will outfox you and in the case of the first pride of baltimore in may of 1986, she was on her way home and very

tour. remembers the war -- remembering the war of 1812. come see us charley crowson, abc2 news. >> all right. a rare first edition cop iest book of mormon stolen from a arizona bookstore has been recovered. the fbi reportedly located it in northern virginia. a man facing charges in this case. the text published back in 1830 is estimated to be be worth 40,000 dollars. book of mormon is considered scripture by members of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints. new this morning, health officials in cecil county say a cat that scratched a person has tested positive for rabies. this happened wednesday in port deposit. the cat is a large cat with black and white markings. if you believe you may have come in contact or exposed to the cat in the past ten days, you should visit an emergency room. this is the second case of a domestic animal in the port deposit area testing positive for rabies this year. the family of a young girl disabled in a shooting is now suing for 10 million dollars.

raven wyatt was 5 years old when she was shot in the head by lamont davis on pulaski street in southwest baltimore. wyatt's family is suing a gps tracking company monday atorring dabs and they claim the company knew the product was flawed. the gay pride parade starts at 4 in the afternoon tomorrow. we are told a section of north charles street will be close through traffic between franklin and chase streets. and also a block party will be held along eager street so things to keep in mind traveling in that area. also going on tomorrow, thebalmmore diamond dash a15,000 dollar diamond is up for grabs and dos of couples will be on a refreshure hunt and the couple with the most points -- treasure hunt and the couple with the most points wins the ring. a struggling nokia is struggling to keep up with apple and google and people are losing their jobs. we will explain how deep the

a live at the inner harbor and linda so also joining us to tell us about a daredevil stopt over niagara falls but -- stunt over niagara falls. >> sherrie and charley need sunglasses. lots of sun to be happening this morning. the radar is dry and that sunshine and dry weather continues through the day. let's go outside to glen oak where we see a beautiful sunrise once again. wall to wall sunshine. that's going to be the name of the game as we head through the day. right now, though, nottingham 60 and reisterstown upper 50s and 61 in rockville. not too worried about the wind for today. they will be light out of the northeast at 5 to 10 miles an hour. not as breezy as we saw yesterday. so make sure to get out and enjoy it. and the hour by hour forecast look at lunchtime, 77 with temperatures coming in at 82 degrees. that's what i am going for today. let's check the abc2 timesaver

traffic with lauren cook. >> reporter: good morning. i spoke with maryland state police who confirm the inner state 70 crash that happened right around 1:15 this morning is fatal involving three cars and it shut down the westbound lanes at route 32 for several hours. the roadway has reopened. stay with us, we will bring you the latest information as it becomes available. if you are headed out to the west side a live loat liberty road. outer loop starting to pick up a little bit. so, do expect moderate congestion as you travel from 795 down towards edmonton. and if you are traveling on the beltway if we can pull up the live shot in parkville at harford road traffic is picking up in this vicinity as well. but no significant delays as you travel that outer loop from harford road up towards providence. that's a look at your abc2 timesaver traffic. now over to you. this morning we want to tell you about a crash in downtown baltimore that happened around 4 this morning at west mull bury and cathedral streets. firefighters use the jaws of life to rescue three people.

no word on cause or the victim's condition. the story is on abc2 muse.com -- abc 2 news.com. 20,000 people is the estimated number of history and naval buffs expected to walk around inner harbor this weekend all in celebration of the sailabration. and charley crowson has been down there throughout the morning and he joins us with a check on what's going on right now. charley. >> reporter: yeah. i like that. the sailabration of the -- celebration of the sailabration. thousands expected out here for 40 ships going on tour and experience it with the family. all commemorating the war of 1812. we are aboard the pride of baltimore 2. this is just one of the vessels you can come out and tour. and offer my shoulder is a ship that came in from mexico and sarah told us when the crew came in, when they first arrived onwednesday all the spans along the mast were the crew standing on those as they welcomed baltimore inner harbor. so many vessels from around the world coming in and today, it's

all about the tours. they start this morning at 11 and concludes at 6 and events throughout the weekend for more on that abc 2 news.com. charley crowson, abc2 news. the sailabration not just about the tall ships and sailors but about giving back and today dozens of sailors are volunteering their time to local charities. some will be helping clean up and beautify the new em p sparrows -- museum in sparrows point and others will unload trucks full of food donated to the maryland food bank. school may be out for summer but some students at boys latin of maryland are doing their part and it's to help wound servicemen and women. it's part of a 24-hour lacould go tournament and right now what are they on hour 21? >> reporter: exactly. they are -- lacrosse tournament and right now what are they on hour 21. >> reporter: actually. we are at the -- exactly. we are at campus of boys latin school of maryland war student

spearheaded a special fund- raiser called shootout for soldiers. it's a 24 hour lacrosse game with money supporting the wounded warrior project. and its effort to aid wound soldiers. this is the first year for the event and we are talking about everything from rec teams and club teams and major league lacrosse players in the tournament. it takes about 20 dollars donation to the wound war yo project to get -- warrior project to get on the field. and high school senior who recently graduated spearheaded this event. so once again, it wraps up at 9:00 this morning. and the money goes to the wound warrior projectch the goal is to raise $-- project. the goal is to raise $50,000. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. thousands of runners are participated in the baltimore 10 miler happening tomorrow including cheryl conner who will run for a charity very close to hear heart. it's called girls on the run. she volunteers as a cope for the group that teach -- coach for the group. they teach girls high self-
