political crisis is over for the time being. >> and temporarily good news here. overseas markets were higher after it became clear that greece would remain in the euro zone. abc's tahman bradley joins us with more on the far-reaching implications. good morning, tahman. >> good morning, rob and sunny. for eye weeks all eyes were on greece, wondering what the country would do. excitement now that the country could form a pro-austerity government. a huge sigh of relief a around the world this morning. the greek voters elected a conservative new democracy party to address the country's financial mess. before the vote, there was enormous fear that greece might abandon the euro enbecome the first country to quit the european union. >> i vote for saving my country. i think the idea of going outside the european union is a catastrophe. >> reporter: the vote doesn't mean an end to the economic problems in greece. but may be just enough to

stabilize the global economy and calm u.s. financial markets. >> that's what we need. brings a huge sign of relief to the equity world that no major change will happen to the euro. >> reporter: new democratty vows to work within the e.u. and to live with unpopular austerity measures. world market s rallied after th vote. and u.s. stock futures are up significantly. in mexico this morning, relief among president obama and leaders of the world's largest economies that a pro-bailout party prevailed. now that the watch is over, world is wonder what happens next. >> this is a systemic issue. and it's already happened. >> reporter: uncertainty in greece remains. will need a partnership to form a viable government. and any such partnership could

be fragile. rob and sunny? >> thanks, tahman. there could be a setback for democracy in egypt this morning. the muslim brotherhood claims its islamist candidate won the election. after polls closed last night, the interim military rulers seized more power. all this remains unclear whether the military will make good on its promise to hand over power to an elected president. mitt romney spent father's day on the campaign trail with three of his grandchildren in tow. at a speech in ohio, romney was nearly drowned out by protesters who shouted for him to go home. romney's staffers moved speakers in the middle of the protesters to drown them out. crews battling that fire in colorado are facing powerful winds. on top of that, high temperatures. the fire has destroyed at least 181 homes. that's the most in state history. and new evacuations have been ordered on top of that. abc's ginger zee joins us with

more on the extreme weather in the forecast this week across the country. ginger? >> reporter: sunny and rob, red flag warnings tonight today. they go through tuesday for many folks. all of that red on the map basically means the humidity is very low. and the winds will be super high. some of the helicopters, i've heard from reports, had to be grounded late sunday. what we wanted to do is see the low pressure system move through. and the winds pick up through tuesday afternoon and evening. again, fire danger high. but the second threat i need to tell you about would be dangerous heat. summer sounds pretty good. how about days on end of 90s? that's what's going to happen here. starting wednesday in the northeast, many folks including boston, new york and washington, d.c. going to be in the upper 90s, if not, 100. look at that. 100 degrees on thursday in washington, d.c. sunny and rob? >> ooh. >> getting hot in here. time, now, for a closer look at today's weather.

expect scattered showers around buffalo, pittsburgh and charleston, west virginia. afternoon thunderstorms from pensacola to houston. stormy with possible hail and high winds in minneapolis, milwaukee and detroit. showers in the pacific northwest. as for your temperatures, 60s from seattle to portland. triple-digits in phoenix and colorado springs. 90-degree heat in the middle of the country. 70s, though, here in the northeast. well, 30 years after he stopped fighting crime on tv, the incredible hulk is poised to take on some real-life criminals. hulk star, lou fa rig know, is now a sheriff's deputy, believe it or not. he was signed in san luis obi o obispo. this is the real deal, not like making a movie. >> i can see that. i can see him as a sheriff. >> he looks like a -- cop-like. the hulk. >> i like it.

announcement from microsoft today. the software giant is expected to take on the apple ipad with a new tablet computer. most analysts expect it will run windows 8. but there's also a report it will be a joint venture with barnes & nobel. and will be able to stream x-box content. stay tuned. the fcc may look into the dangers of cell phone radiation. the mobile e ligs standards haven't changed in more than 15 years. and the fcc chairman wants them reviewed. but a spokesman stresses the agency still does not believe there's any health concerns associated with cell phone radiation. ate seems every major car company is offering more discounts this year. but lexus is the one going the extra mile. toyota's luxury line is boosting its discount program by 60%, especially on suvs. all because it wants to regain its crown as the top luxury car brand in the u.s. a crown it recently lost for the

first time in 11 years to bmw. most overseas markets are up sharply this morning after the election in greece. tokyo's nikkei average surged 152 points today. hong kong's hang seng was up 208. in london, the ftse opened higher. on wall street, the dow picked up 213 points last week. the nasdaq index gained 14. and the animals ruled the zoo and the movie theaters this weekend. "madagascar 3" was tops in the box office for the second weekend. it took in 36 million bucks. and we're back, now, with a massive dust storm enveloping the phoenix area. the wall of dirt and debris driven by 40-mile-per-hour winds. the dust has shut down at least one highway. now, take a look at your morning road conditions on the back-to-work monday. expect some slick spots from orlando to miami. and along much of the gulf coast, as well. some highways in the upper midwest from the twin cities to detroit. showers dampen roads in the

pacific northwest and the northern rockies. >> if you're flying, airport delays are possible in minneapolis, detroit and denver. and back to the news this morning. new details, today, about the death of rodney king. a neighbor says she heard someone, quote, really crying. and then, a few minutes later, a splash. >> king was found dead in his pool. autopsy results are expected today or tomorrow. and with more on his life, here's abc's cecilia vega. >> reporter: he was the battered face at the center of the first viral video ever. the man who issued that famous plea in the middle of one of the worst riots in american history. >> can we all get along? >> reporter: in a southern california suburb, rodney king's lifeless body was found in his swimming pool by his fiancee, one of his jurors that awarded him $4 million in a civil suit after his beating. >> she got up to go outside to talk with him, which she found him in the bottom of the pool.

>> reporter: his death being investigated as an accidental drowning. but king had a long struggle with drugs and alcohol. and according to news reports, his fiancee told friends he had been drinking all day saturday and smoked marijuana. april marked the 20th anniversary of the riots that followed the beating trial. looking back, king said he made a mistake running from the police that night. he said he didn't want to go to jail for drunk driving. >> i was so happy it was on tape. i was looking at it, it was like me being in another body. i felt like i died in that one and just watching it. >> reporter: that beating went on for 15 minutes, with 4 l.a. police officers pounding king with batons, kicking him, shooting him with stun guns. >> not guilty of the crime of assault -- >> reporter: and when they were acquitted by a jury with no blacks on it, mayhem in the streets of los angeles. a city on fire. king said he forgave the officers. but decades later, he was still haunted by nightmares and

flashbacks. cecilia vega, abc news, los angeles. civil rights groups are uniting to march on new york's so-called stop and frisk policy. reverend al sharpton and 300 groups demanded a stop to the practice, searching people considered suspicious by officers. they feel the program unfairly targets people of color and also those in the gay community. we could begin to hear jerry sandusky's side of the story today. the former coach and even his wife could take the stand. defense lawyers are set to argue that sandusky suffers from a personality disorder, to display excessive emotions to seek attention. a suspected drunk driver led police on a high-speed chase in the l.a. area. the driver hit speeds of 100 miles per hour during the wild ride. one of his tires blew it, sending sparks showering on to the roadway there.

a family vacationing from miami was hit head-on in that pursuit, before the driver was finally stopped. thankfully, they were not seriously hurt. and police are now investigating a slapping incident at a texas elementary school. a teacher has been put on paid administrative leave after ordering kindergarten students to line up and slap a 6-year-old classmate. it was the teacher's way to punish the boy for bullying other students. but the child's parents have filed a criminal complaint. take a look at this. a temper tantrum after a tennis match in london. the argentine player was disqualified after kicking the plywood box. the player did apologize after he was booted for unsportsman-like conduct. he forfeits all of his prize money. roughly 50,000 bucks, in fact. he may face a $10,000 fine. keep your cool there, man. >> that's right.

in rochester, michigan. >> i was married. my husband and i were in love. >> reporter: nearby, sam town, another family, with a different chemistry. michael and his wife, kathy. the shock hit both families simultaneously. matt had cancer. and on christmas day, right after his kids unwrapped their gifts, he did die. >> i love you, mom, so much. >> reporter: two months later, in that other family, it was kathy who went. brain cancer. that's when their kids wrote out a contract, making their dad promise never to marry again without their okay. that understanding father signed the contract. here's the twist, the two who had died. they had known each other as kids and lost touch. but for some reason, kathy, in her last day alive, in her last hours, knowing about matt's recent death, said something remarkable. >> she grabbed my hand and looked me in the eye. and said call gina.
