take weeks. no longer willing to go on cam, the family says they are in the middle of planning their goodbye to the 17-year-old chris brown. prayer vigilling and a viewing all things that you should never do for a teen. and the brown family did not want to say that. and it expresses it. the look in his sister's eyes. one of the last why and off duty police officer killed their loved one through asphyxiation and days later they still have no answers. >> we're charged with investigating the case and looking at the facts and determine what kind of a homicide it is. >> for the department's part, the police say that it will take weeks to get the answers in part trying to figure out if their officer was acting in a criminal behavior, self-defense as an officer or a private

when he lost control of the ford pickup in darlington. police say the truck ran off a curb and struck a fence. the a night watchman discovered the crash this morning and notified the victim's father. they tried to perform cpr but the efforts were not successful. determining the cause of a fire. 51-year-old bruce wagner died in the fire. and waiting for autopsy results for the cause of death. they say the home had no working detector even though they pressed the landlord to install them. we did some digging, under the public safety section, landlords are required to install them in each sleeping area and make sure they maintain it f they don't, they could face two years in jail

and a fine. if you live in the city and you don't have a working detector in the home, firefighters willen stall one. call the city's 311 line and request a free smoke alarm. fill out a form and send it in. someone will install it for you. lawyers for the man accused of killing a graduate student in georgia are asking for his bail to be reduced. steven mcdaniel pleaded not guilty to the murder of lauren giddings. she was found in a trash bin. the current $850,000 bond is more than the family can afford. prosecution is seeking the death penalty. the coverage of the jerry sandusky abuse trial. the prosecution rested.

the last witness was a mother of one of the victims. the defense called witnesses they hope will convince the jury that he is not a pedophile. diana perez has the latest. >> reporter: in the testimony, the prosecution's last witness covered her face and sobbed on the stand. last week victim 9 said he learned to just deal with being assaulted by sandusky. his mother felt gilly for urging him to spend time with the coach. never connecting the bathroom troubles to the abuse he was subjected to. >> i wonder why he never had any under wear in the laundry. there was never any under wear, any socks. that was odd. the defense was calling the first witnesses. a friend and coach talked about the schedules. another called sandusky a great guy but admitted waiting for everything to happen before making up his mind.

they found. they were met by gunfire and the man claimed to be an off duty police officer. jamie costello tells how it ended. jamie? >> reporter: investigators are trying to figure out what sparked the standoff yesterday involving richard clemen. the 42-year-old was arraigned this morning after engaging philadelphia police in a 10- hour standoff. >> i heard gunshots. given there are clubs nearby and it was rapid fire. that was unusual. >> reporter: he is a clifton county police officer and marksman barricaded himself in the home of his estranged wife. two vehicles were hurt and an armored carrier was hit. one officer suffered minor injuries from the concrete when a bullet struck the sidewalk. >> people are requested --
