>> you had done this before. what do you think is the most important thing that you said to your teammates on the way to this championship? >> you know what? i think this team, we have so much pain, so much hurt, so much embarrassment from last season that it was nothing needed to be said. from the first day, from christmas day, we was on a mission. and that mission was not complete until tonight. >> two-time nba champion dwyane wade. congratulations. chris bosh. every nba player dreams of winning the nba championship. how does the dream compare to the reality? >> ah, the reality is a lot better, but you know what? all those times we were working hard in the gym, working hard together, suffering through everything together, it's all worth it. >> you were perceived as sometimes the forgotten member of the big three. what do you think your biggest

fame. yet, they look like little kids at this moment. >> jeff: well, you work so long and so hard. you don't even realize until the fourth quarter when they had that huge lead that you were actually going to accomplish it. they had so many opportunities this year, where they could have lost along the way, to indiana, or to boston. they found a way. >> mike: they always talked about the experience, that was the ultimate teacher for them. meanwhile, let's, a quick back look at the oklahoma city thunder. what a fabulous year, such a great young team. just although step. they may just not have been ready right now, but you know they're going to be a force for the number of years, especially if they keep the core together. >> jeff: i think a lot of people will go back and say, in revisionist history, that they weren't experienced enough. i don't think it was that. i thought they just met up against another great team who made two or three more plays, games two through four, than

they did, and unfortunately, they got hit with the hay maker tonight, with all those three-point shots. >> mike: final line between winning and losing in this league. certainly evident in games two, three and four, where the heat won three straight then and, of course, finished off with four straight wins to win the championsh championship. as for miami, again, their core is going to be together. might have some tweaks. but they are certainly a team. we can joke about it now, we talk about they could win multiple championships, getting the first one, it's going to be hard coming back, but they're going to be in the thick of things for a number of years. jntd there's no doubt. their challenge is to remain hungry, remain humble and keep playing to the standard they set in these playoffs. and, that's not easy, because injuries can come into it. a lot of things can happen. and, so, that's why you have to make the most of your opportunities. >> mike: say so much about lebron james, rightfully, so, but so much help that he had tonight, mike miller, shane

a personal journey. lebron james has emerged triumphantly on the other side. >> lebron james' heat career got off to a controversial and turbulent start. for many, he became the nba's public enemy number one. his first season in miami was superb, until the struggles versus dallas in the finals, providing more ammunition for his critics. but this year was different. right from the start. vowing to learn from his mistakes, both on and off the court, james turned in one of the most complete regular seasons the nba has ever seen. winning his third mvp. but none of it matters if he and his team fell shortle of their goal. postseason was dominant, capped by a finals filled with what he called game-changing plays. james, trying to quiet the

crowd -- oh, throws it. james puts his head down, drives inside and puts it in. lebron james from downtown! bang! james drives inside -- and a foul! james, the drive -- count it, and one! tries the three -- bang! james on the break -- and the finish. james drives right at ibaka, count it, and a foul. westbrook, blocked by james! back to lebron james, lays it in! an avalanche from miami. lebron james and the heat kept saying all year, experience was the greatest teacher. maybe the most skrut nilzed player in nba history. perhaps the most hyped team the league has ever seen. they had their ups and downs. but it all came together through hard work, sacrifice and good old fashioned team work. now, the miami heat get to call

more directions. >> three fire companies are a big step closer to shutting down. >> we have the new developments in the battle over the budget in the city. >> reporter: some members of city council thought they had the way to saving the fire company but the mayor supporters on the council snuffed out the plan when the time came to vote tonight. truck ten in west baltimore, squad 11 and truck 15 in east baltimore now cleared to be shut down after councilmembers voted 9-5 to approve a budget submitted by the mayor. council president jack young led the fight to make other cuts and use the money saved to keep the companies open. >> >> reporter: some who voted for it voted against it tonight. they appeared to have been swayed by the mayor saying that even if the cut was approved the money saved couldn't have

been used to keep the companies open, supporters of the president's plan disagree. >> where there is a will there is always a way. especially given a -- six million dollar readjustment in a two plus billion dollar budget. >> reporter: they say the way would have been a commitment from the mayor instead her plan is aimed at replacing the current system with three nightly rotating closures of fire companies with the three permanent closures that appear almost certain to go into effect on july 1st. >> what doesn't work is if the mayor refuses to come to the table and take the money that we have offered in cuts and send it for the purposes that the people have asked for. that is what makes this impossible. >> reporter: the mayor release aid state helicopter praising councilmembers. it still has to go through another vote that. will happen on monday. the final meeting of this fiscal year.

some members say they hope to make changes to the budget at that time. abc 2news. >> new tonight while baltimore's new arch bishop was celebrating a liberty mass in demonstrators were gathering outside the church protesting an effort they are called port night for freedom. it's a two week period focusing on prayer. they want pastors, not politicians. >> we don't want our bishops and religious leaders doing politics at church and putting your money into political campaigns that aren't responsible to the catholic people. >> reporter: 9 bishops called for the calling -- the government mandates employers provide birth control. >> they gather on the rannal high school field off the 50- yard line where 50 played. they came out tonight,

christopher brown's mother sat with her eyes closed listened to others try to make sense of her loss. her son died after a fight with a off duty police officer. we heard words, balloons filled the sky friends made sure brown's mom knew they were there. >> reporter: inspiring. show you the people care. 17 years, touched a lot of people. he was a very nonaggressive likable brother. he wouldn't have fought this dude. he gave up. that's not him. he is quick to apologize. quick to want peace. >> reporter: mom was overwhelmed and touched by the tribute. earlier they shared her deep emotions. >> reporter: with her son about to be a senior, chris brown should be looking at which of these photographs to send to the year book staff. not laying them out on a coffee

table so people stopping in can pay respects. >> i just know that i will miss him so much. but, he is showing me himself in just when i thought that i wouldn't see you him again i'm seeing him in people now and that means the world. at least i know i got a piece everywhere i go. >> reporter: from the grocery store to the drugstore brown said people who knew her son are telling her stories. in the weeks since he was killed she is beginning to see her son's reach, his impact on other lives, and the man she worked so hard to mold. a spirit all woman she is getting strength from her son's impact. from is an investigation going on she does believe the officer criminally murdered her son but now is not about that. it's's about christopher. >> i'm not angry and i want to make sure that that's clear.

i don't feel cheated. i just know that it was a crime committed and i need justice to prevail. there is no other way i can look at it. i love that life i just saw. >> reporter: and she will see more of it tonight. christopher's friends have planned a vigil this evening on the very football field he was working toward his dream as a professional player. this is not a rally, this is a individual him, one brown said she will lean on for strength as she prepared to bury her baby boy. >> they didn't know how much it'll take to get through it and they will help us. you know i'm -- i'm -- you know -- i just want christopher -- asked if the lord could show me him more and he is answering that prayer. because i want to be able to [inaudible] and not take away from his

purpose and he came in peace and i want him to leave in peace. >> christopher's family said there will be a viewing for chris tomorrow. it'll be in the evening from four to eight at the vaughn green funeral home on liberty road. >> all new, the next step for the fast and furious debate. the senate said lawmakers will go forward with a contempt vote onto attorney general. earlier this week they held eric holder in contempt for failing to turnover papers on the botched gun tracking operation. 9 president invoked executive privilege to block the documents from being released. some fear a constitutional crisis. a big announcement tonight from inside season dusky's family. just hours after the case went
