kelly, as you can see, this wind has really picked up. it brought with it a dry thunderstorm. lightning, wind, very little rain. the devastation and destruction continues to grow in cooling col as mullet -- colorado as multiple fires burn across the state. firefighters are now focusing on a massive blaze on the outskirts of colorado spring. the raging inferno doubled in skies, now burning more than 24 square miles. >> it's not close to being contained. >> reporter: it's threatening colorado's second largest city. they don't know how many homes have burned. the conditions are too

-- hotter and more humid. a stray storm in the mix. here is the seven-day forecast. the trend is for hotter and hotter conditions. we'll probably bump up monday into the upper 90s as well. now to democracy 2012 news, some new poll numbers show president obama is in a good position to lock up three critical swing states that he will need in november. tory dunnan joins us live from washington. you've got new poll numbers for us. >> reporter: let's get right to it starting with a cnn poll. it shows president obama is leading mitt romney 48% to 44%, but there are new state polls out in three critical states that show the president has a lead there as well. in florida obama is up 45% to 41%. ohio, 47% to 38%.

a 17-year-old boy is a free man tonight. a judge released officer james laboard on his own recognizance. christian schaffer has the latest. >> reporter: after he was indicted, officer james laboard turned himself. tonight he is back at home. laboard walked out after his board review. the prosecutor said laboard was acting as a police officer the night he walked out of his home and got into an altercation with 17-year-old christopher brown, but she told the judge this was not an intentional killing. several baltimore county police officers spoke in support of laboard's character. >> very satisfied with the decision a was made. >> reporter: indeed, that decision was to release james laboard on personal row
