shot. 101 at bwi. this will be a new record. dulles is checking in at 104. you get heat indices of 113. earlier we saw frederick at 116. we have the code red alert, the excessive heat warning. that will be up until 19. just be prepared. maryland's most powerful radar is clear. that's the good news. i want to go out near columbus, ohio, 80-mile-an-hour wind gusts. we are keeping close tabs on it. right now it's moving 65 miles an hour. if this holds together we may have to address severe weather entering the picture. that would be more so around 8:00, 9:00 if the complex holds together.

destructive and it has left at left one person dead. >> we did find the human remains of one person. >> reporter: from the air and on the ground, entire neighborhoods have been wiped out. >> it's like someone took their thumb and smudged each one. >> it's an only men us in feeling to see fire threatening what you come to know and enjoy and frankly take for granted. >> reporter: the major is worried about his colorado home as well but he's in afghanistan with u.s. army's fourth brigade. the fire is raging a couple hundred feet from their home. on friday crews were making some progress, the fire is now 15% contained. now if the weather holds, this will make two days in a row that mother nature has cooperated.

roosevelt leftwich, abc2 news. >> people in one neighborhood woke up to flames and the sounds of screams to get out of the house. firefighters arrived in the 1900 block of sponson street. they said it was fully engulfed in fire. it was empty because it was up for sale. one neighbor jumped into action weaking up her neighbors. >> she used my cell phone to call 911. we drove down here and saw what house it was. we started beating on everybody's house. the windows started busting out of the house. >> no one was injured in the house but the house was damaged on the inside. we want to show you a live picture of the bay bridge as lots of people head to the beach, possibly planning to stay awhile. hopefully they're all enjoying the lower gas prices we've had

george zimmerman, the man charged with murdering trayvon martin was back in court today in florida. zimmerman had been in jail since his bond was revoked. today his attorney wanted the attorney to release him again but it turned into a mini trial. many people took the stand, including zimmerman's father. a recording was also played for the court. the prosecutor asked zimmerman it identify the screams on the tape. >> you feel it's your son's voice? >> yes. >> how can he be screaming if the victim's got one hand over

his nose. >> the last time zimmerman had a bond hearing, he was accused of misleading the judge about his finances. the court was recessed early this afternoon after the court said he needed time to make a decision. the extreme heat we're feeling isn't just affecting us in maryland. an apartment building outside chattanooga, ten see, ended up -- tennessee ended up with a medical mfnlgt they all had heat exhaustion. the, stream temperatures made -- the extreme temperatures made the flames hard to control. >> tennessee is one of the 27 states hitting the century mark. kent island, it is just a haze. we're calling it a steam bath.

until 9:00. as we head toward tomorrow, high humidity. we have an excessive heat watch probably going over to a warning as we head into tomorrow. that code red alert may stay active. in terms of the 4 warn storm team -- satellite radar composite. we go out to the west. we've been watching it moving south of cleveland. it's been producing 80 to 90-mile-an-hour winds. we have to address severe weather. you can see severe thunderstorm warnings, watches shaded in the yellow. we have to monitor the progress of the line if it holds

together. we could be talking about dang storms moving in. we have a risk for not only tonight for some gusty winds but tomorrow afternoon with the heat, the humidity and a cold front out to the west. that would be enough to trigger showers or gusty thunderstorms. you have to keep a watch on abc2news.com. future trend picking up on those showers and storms around the 9:00 hour. it's close stho -- 90 degrees. temperatures eventually falling back into the 70s. once again showing 100 for the 95 with the humidity making it feel between 105 to 110, so certainly some dang -- dangerous heat. keep an eye on the western sky. 95 for the rest of the evening. dangerous heat as we head toward the evening hours. overnight down to 75, gusty

thunderstorms. we'll have to monitor that storm complex into parts of ohio. that's moving about 65 miles an hour. isolated showers becoming more numerous. 97 on sunday but it's a drier heat. 95 on monday. we'll continue this trend of 90-degree weather and maybe a gusty shower or storm. it features the chance of scattered showers. it's not going to be the excessive heat. >> thank goodness for that. we were talking on facebook about trying to run. it's thick heat. >> you hit that mile and. >> done. mike will be back with more on the storm and the warm heat. if you're in the mood for crabs, it doesn't get much better than the crab deck at the power plant. this is about more than food.

in tonight's health news, alarming news about connections between erlgly pops and heart disease. a new study shows women who deal with menopause before they turn 46 are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or have a stroke. researchers looked at more than 2500 women for the study and said the link isn't clear but it doesn't look like replacement hormones lower your risk. doctors say at risk women should keep their cost -- cholesterol and blood pressure in check. scientists are a step closer to battling the addiction to nicotine. it's been toasted on mice. a doctor at johns hopkins said the new vaccine is a promising
