in middle river this morning. if you're wondering where bge is, they're on it. they're out here working this morning. we have a live report on getting the power back on just ahead. looking forward to that. also new this morning firefighters in baltimore city were busy overnight two. two separate two alarm fires and video to show you. one affecting a historic site. came awfully close to the gas station. also this morning, a lifeguard fired for doing his job. what he did now has got other lifeguards calling him away from the scene. that story a lot of you talking about on facebook this morning. >> that's a good story. 79 degrees charlie. we're starting off very, very muggy and mild. take a look. and maryland's most powerful radar showing a few of the scattered showers and storms out near deep creek. we also had some big storms that moved through new jersey last night. we were sandwiched in-between the two. but stayed pretty dry. so that was the good news. take a look at temperatures starting out this morning at 5:30, 79. 81 in dover. salisbury at 82 degrees and we have a heat index at 85 right now in dover, delaware. excessive heat watch in effect for the eastern shore and we have an excessive heat warning for baltimore down towards d.c.. excessive heat warning as you head up towards philadelphia. he's your day planner. 8:00 in the morning very warm. muggy humid. 83. lunchtime we're up to 92 degrees and we're on the way for 98 to 99 degrees for your daytime high. with the humidity in play and maybe a little bit of a trigger, we could see a scattered shower or thunderstorm after the 8:00 hour. we'll talk more about the forecast and saturday may break 100 degrees. that's all coming up in just a

this is going to be really dangerous out there. another brutal week and possibly into a brutal weekend. one area hardst hit is one baltimore county neighborhood and that's where we find abc2 news megan pringle, she is live this morning where crews have been hard at it since you started your day megan. >> reporter: they absolutely have charlie and i tell you for the past week we've heard people say where is bge? where are the crews fixing my power? they're here. they're working on it. it's just going to take a long time. but a lot of people their patience is running thin and they're waking up to day six without power and air- conditioning. there's some good news out here. we're in middle river off of compass road and dh morning it was interesting because you can see half the neighborhood was completely dark and then there were some glimmers of lights in certain homes. it is starting to come back on. i did speak to one guy this morning. he said at 4:00 the lights came back on for him. one of the problems in the community of middle river there's a large wooded area less than a mile from where we are. a huge tree is down on power

lines in that area. we did some checking online property records do confirm that wooded area behinds the homes owned by the county. and people who live around here say they have complained for years about having the trees cut back but it's never happened. still they say they are trying to make the best of it but it's hard. >> that's the only thing keeping us sane is the fact that we can commiserate with each other and have a good time. >> it's five days and every morning, we'll get up and we put another notch on there. >> reporter: now it's day six. now for a lot of people out here they say they heard from bge and they said it would be on by late weekend but again as soon as 4:00 this morning and some of these homes the power fact there's a house over here where a tree is down on those power lines. it's not coming back for them anytime soon. but charlie if you were without power for six days you might ask yourself what's the first thing you would do once you get it back? the man i spoke to turn on the

coffee machine and the air- conditioning and just waiting for the hot water heater to take a warm shower because the cold ones got pretty old pretty fast. >> we're going to enjoy a cup of coffee with him this morning. now on to more serious news the fourth of july parade takes a horrible turn when a flag bearer is run over by a car. now we need to warn you the video you're about to see especially at this early hour is especially disturbing. that man was carrying a flag in a parade in wisconsin suddenly run over by a pt cruiser, both the driver and the man car ring the flag they are -- man carrying the flag they are vfw members. they believe the man driving lost consciousness while driving the convertible. despite how graphic the video is, though, everyone is expected to be okay especially the man who was once again struck by the car. at least three florida lifeguards are now looking for new jobs after one of them rescued a drowning man.

that's not a misprint. he was fired for rescuing someone. tomas lopez left the designated zone to save a man in an area and the lifeguards were not supposed to be there. he was fired for doing this. at least one of the lifeguards has also been let go because he said he would have done the exact same thing. listen. >> not going to put my job over going to help someone again. i'm going to do what i felt was right and i did. >> if i see anyone drowning regardless of where they are i'm going to save them because i'm a lifeguard and even as a human i'm going to save someone if they need help. >> one other lifeguard quit with his friends. at least four others have since given notice and the company policy is to call 911 when someone is drowning outside of the guarded zones. lifeguards can be fired if you go out there and you do your job, this is of course the hot topic this morning on facebook. will of you weighing in and you've been doing so overnight. keep the responses coming in, and robert says doing the right

this is the scene. this is what it looked like a little before 1:00 this morning here on liberty heights avenue. authorities say the fire broke out around midnight and investigators aren't sure what exactly caused the fire but crews had it under control in 30 minutes. the ambassador theatre has not been a theater since 1968. it's been a church and also a sister theater of the famous senator theater in baltimore. the old theater actually sits next to a gas station and has some witnesses nearby concerned after they saw flames shooting from the building. >> it was over here on the pavement and i seen -- i seen a couple of guys get out the fire truck. one of them fell down and i seen flames coming from the naked owe. i couldn't get -- eye. i couldn't get on my phone. like the door was on fire. >> reporter: in the meantime we spoke with dispatchers overnight who say the fire that started on roberts street around 11:30 inside a vacant house fire that caused minor damage to an occupied home next door.

sherrie johnson, abc2 news. well, unsettling incident for some d.c. metro riders. an i reporter emily moses was riding the green line train when it cost power. after waiting in that hot car for another train to come they waited about half an hour. the driver told the passengers the rescue train it had lost power too. that's what you're seeing now. emily moses has this video coming in. people getting out of the train and they walked all the way to the college station -- the college station stop and everyone was reported to be okay. well, five things to know on this thursday morning. president barack obama begins the campaigning for two day bus tour in western pennsylvania and northern ohio. details on this at abc2news.com and abc2 news. well, a final report into the air france flight that crashed off the coast of brazil in 2009 et is due out today. the initial report claimed technical problems and human error for flight 447 came down in 2009 killing all 228 people

numbers already feeling like it's into the 80s. annapolis we just showed you 83. down to georgetown salisbury out towards ocean city # 2 to 83 degrees. excessive heat advisory at noon today and last into the afternoon going into tomorrow. here's the satellite and radar picture, you can see broken clouds out to the east and west of us and as we broaden out the shot, you can see the showers and storms over michigan. this may dive in our direction today and it could produce maybe a gusty shower hour thunderstorm. we'll watch that but look at the high temperatures getting well into the # hundred mark for much of the eastern third of the nation. 99 today going down to 77 for tonight and again a late night shower or thunderstorm certainly possible. 97 on friday. 101 on saturday. with those real feel numbers between 105 to 110 so a blistering dangerous heat for saturday and then sunday may be some gusty storms breaking the backbone of this heat wave that

all right, one man in mississippi is in some big trouble with police and his mother. surveillance video of police say the 22-year-old roy mitchell goes into a convenience store you see it here. his mom is in the orange shirt right behind him. when mitchell is up at the cash register he pills out a -- pulls out a began and now watch. you see his mom grabbed the fun and for mitchell the gun was fake and the mom begged the clerk not to call police. the police caught up with them and arrested mitchell. a florida marine is now pulled up about raising money for the wounded warrior project. he's doing push-ups, this is
