that water main break on york road is still causing problems. there's another leak tonight. public works tells us it's a combination of the hot weather and hot asphalt. york road will continue to be closed, one lane in each direction until this is all repaired. a day that should have been filled with fun and celebration turned tragic for a family. now grieving the loss after accidents claimed their lives and many of them were children. >> reporter: heartbreak and sadness this 4th of july. most of the victims were children. on long island's north shore more than two dozen people had just watched the fireworks on a 36-foot boat like this one when it capsized. >> three of those 27 people are children. they are deceased.

there are 8, 11 and 12. >> reporter: several children were also electrocuted in missouri and tennessee. outside of knoxville two byes were swimming from one house boat to another and were electrocuted. >> a bunch of people jumped into the wart. my son and brother helped the other. >> reporter: in the lake of the ozarks, a 13-year-old and her brother were election tre cuted while swimming near a prist dock. >> i don't want to go swimming at the lake of the hoe disarks. i'm scared. >> reporter: in both cases investigators aren't sure what energized the lake. it's a mystery why the boat capsized in oyster bay. >> it could be overcrowding, a mechanical situation, a wake created by another boat or a weather condition last evening that suddenly erupted. >> reporter: there was another

tragedy, this time in iowa where three children drowned in the river while celebrating the 4th of july with their family. 11 people, including five children were seriously hurt in a fireworks explosion. neighbors hosted it every year but something went wrong. the blast happened on the back point a neighbor believes a firework was set off and set off the others. police removed 90 boxes of fireworks from the home. three of the kids have severe burns tonight. >> any chance george zimmerman is going to bolt is going to happen now, after a judge set his bail at a million dollars and took away his passport. more on the man who shot trayvon martin. >> reporter: if george zimmerman wants out now, it's going to cost him -- a lot. the judge set bail at $1

their baby be born healthy. until recently doctors would take samples from the fetus to get a complete genetic sequence that could offer clues on possible diseases or defects but that test could also harm the fetus. recently researchers started taking samples from the mother's blood and the father's saliva to obtain similar information. now it's simpler. a study tested blood samples from two pregnant women, one with a healthy fetus, one with a rare genetic disorder. the test results matched each baby's genetics after birth. it cap be done in the first trimester leaving time to treat diseases during pregnant spi. the test also races obvious ethical questions. in about three years the new technology could determine the complete genetic sequence of an unborn child.

all right. democracy 2012. president obama kicked off his bus tour and tried to convince voters his economic plan is working. tory dunnan joins us live from washington. what's the president's agenda today? >> today it's all about grass roots events and ice cream associations. the president is getting out of washington, d.c. and trying to get some face time with vote ares in ohio. he knows how important it is to win the state in november. this marks the president's seventh visit to ohio this year and his first official bus tour. it comes three weeks after romney took a bus tour of its own through the midwest. >> the country is beth on you, ohio. >> reporter: really aware of his audience, the president focused on his efforts to improfit auto and manufacturing industry. >> governor romney said we should let the automobile
